Secularism & Corrupt Church Leaders…

Secularism & Corrupt Church Leaders…

Michael Voris calls on corrupt Church leaders to “repent, resign, or both”.

The usual high standard presentation from Michael Voris. He really has got it right – if the bishops weren’t so corrupt themselves, they could have nailed secularism a long time ago.

I agree – Michael’s usual high performance. I loved the dagger image!

He’s right – errant preachers, immoral clergy etc. need to be “expunged”, and the sooner the better.

The bishops have bought into secular humanistic liberal modernism and as Michael Voris says – modernism is the synthesis of all heresies. When Pope Pius X condemned modernism early in the 20th century, one thing he required was that all priests take the oath against this pernicious heresy. This was done until after Vatican II at which some point the Oath was abrogated.

Yes Josephine, if the bishops weren’t so corrupt themselves, they could have nailed secularism long ago.
A true saying that the road to hell is a broad one.

I agree about the bishops having responsibility for the increased secularism in the world, and they are talking all the time about secularism being the cause of the decline of religion! When I’ve asked a priest what he thinks is the cause of the Faith being lost, the answer is always “secularism” – why don’t they see what is staring them in the face?

Here is another bishop reported by Michael, causing scandal – there’s nothing wrong with homosexuality according to him.

How “the Church” is supposed to overcome secularism with Judases like him undermining her teaching, is anybody’s guess.

I hope it’s OK to post another Vortex video – if they are cluttering up the thread, madam editor is to feel free to delete them. I thought this one is a really good follow on from the one I just posted about the Bishop and Lady Gaga – the story about the church activist shows the consequences of priests who have lost the faith but keep on in their ministry

Thanks to Nicky for posting those two videos – makes me think I should have posted a “Voris Video” thread before now – they are very good and drive home the sad truth of our negligent bishops and their scandalous complicity in the spread of both secularism and the development of a morally permissive culture where evil behaviours are condoned and legalised.

I’ve gone off Voris a bit recently.

Unfortunately, like many American ‘conservative’ Catholics, Michael Voris has fallen into the snare of the American political dichotomy. In the mind of many Europeans, perhaps even by Bishop Fellay, he would be considered a right-wing, libertarian extremist.

These people believe that affordable and universal health coverage provided by the state is evil. They call it ‘socialised medicine’.

During his trip to Scotland, he even had a dig at the NHS during his talk at Carfin, naively presuming to strike a rapport with the audience. It seemed to go over most peoples heads. That’s how brainwashed the Americans are. They just assume (in the matter of health care) that everyone in the world sees it like them.

I happen to know a little bit about health care in the US. There was a programme on television recently about a man who was incapacitated by his enormous scrotum. He lived a life of misery in the same country which boasts some of the best medical expertise in the world. Nobody would operate on him on account of his finances. Until, eventually a charity paid for it. That the most developed nation on earth so often treats its citizens like this is repugnant.

The number of Quacks in the US is outrageous. Remeber Nick Riviera from the Simpsons? Well there’s plenty of them. All because of the capitalisation of medicine. This is the country that airs television commercials for anti-depressants (illegal in the UK)!

Will someone tell Voris et al. that Regano-Thatcherite Neo-Liberal economic policy has nothing to do with Catholicism. I don’t even think it is compatible with Catholic Social Teaching.

Perhaps Voris would say that it was the man’s own fault that he was poor, and that he is totally responsible for his poverty and that nobody should help him with his medical fees, apart from himself by his own efforts, because that is what responsible people do. I can’t accept that. I don’t think it’s Christian. When I was baptised Catholic I didn’t take a vow to vote Tory.

The position is inconsistent anyway. In the US, primary and secondary education is paid for by the state. Is that not socialised education? I should write to Voris and tell him he is an evil Communist for advocating non-fee paying schools. They also have a socialised fire-brigade, a socialised police force and a socialised social services. My goodness, the USA is a Socialist paradise!

    • Miles Immaculatae

Yes of course we have a state owned fire brigade. That’s not socialism and it’s not anti-Christian. Can you imagine a world where the fire brigade wouldn’t put out the flames of your burning house, or rescue you from your crashed car because you had no fire brigade insurance?

“Can you imagine a world where the fire brigade wouldn’t put out the flames of your burning house, or rescue you from your crashed car because you had no fire brigade insurance?”

Don’t put ideas in their heads! The way things are going in the economy right now, I wouldn’t be surprised!

      Miles Immaculatae,

I don’t think you can blame Michael Voris for the “American Dream” culture. Yes, they have a very unchristian attitude to health care, as they have to benefits in general (taking an individualistic and literal interpretation of St Paul’s “if you don’t work, you don’t eat”) but Michael has grown up with that mindset and not known anything else. I’ve known people in the UK to have the same mindset about unemployment benefits, until they were made unemployed themselves and that soon changed their tune! You can’t deny that MV is right in what he says about the state of the Church. The videos on this thread are all good and very clear. They are also short and to the point which is what makes them so effective.

The following video is tremendous. It is apparent that many people are making a very good living as Catholic ‘apologists’ and, being dependent on the good will of the bishops, are unwilling to do anything to rock the boat and hurt their own pockets.

I’d like to find out how much Ronnie Convery earns.

Catholic Answers had it coming to them, inevitably, since their ‘Radical Traditionalist’ rampage. Smug Neo-Cats at their finest. RE: Their massive salaries… this is an excellent exposé.

I am so naive. I thought Akin and Stapples et al. provided their services voluntarily for CA. I would have thought they earned enough from their writing and publishing royalties.

And there they were begging for money from the people they despise (‘RadTrads’) like greedy protestant televangelists.

Michael Voris is forgiven. Although I await the day he reneges over SSPX.

I agree – once Michael sees the SSPX light, he’ll do even more good than he’s doing now.

“The (Church of Nice” video is tremendous”

Augustine – something of an understatement! WOW! How interesting – and illuminating – was that little gem? EWTN? Catholic Answers? WOW! Was that an education or what?

And in the same interests of transparency that led Michael Voris to reveal his $40,000 annual salary, with others in his employ earning either just under or well under that amount, let me reveal the Catholic Truth salary scale as follows:

Only the editor has a six figure salary = £000,000

Treasurer, Secretary, are paid £00,000 each

        Columnists are paid £0,000.

“Expenses” traditionally took the form of editor buying the tea and cakes in Bradford’s Tearoom but now that (shock, horror) Bradford’s has closed down, editor will no doubt buy the tea and cakes in some other posh haunt, assuming we manage to organise our next meeting before the recession ends…

I suppose for the amount of work he puts in, USD 40,000 is reasonable. I wouldn’t begrudge him that. I always knew he was getting some money from somewhere, he always wears pristine suits.

But USD 100,000! That’s a lot. And CA won’t be their single source of revenue either.

I tell you whose salary I would like to know, those Medjugorje seers. I wonder how much money they have made over the past thirty or so years?

        Miles Immaculatae,

I see your thinking, but to me there is something not quite right about people being salaried for doing church work. Michael denounces “professional Catholics” but isn’t he one of them, even though his pay is not as high as the others?

I’m not sure of the answer and maybe I’m being unrealistic. I think he does great work but I just always presumed that activities like prolife work and reporting on the church crisis was done on a volunteer basis. Maybe that’s not possible but it makes it more difficult to be sure of the motives, if you see what I mean.

To end on a positive note though, I have watched all the videos on this thread and they are all excellent. I suppose it’s fair to say he’s earned his keep!

      • Miles Immaculatae

I suppose with his CV he could get a very tidy salary indeed, well above USD 40,000. He used to be a journalist and he worked in television. But he has given up his old occupation completely to focus entirely on Saint Michaels Media/ CMTV. He gives his company all his effort. So it’s not like he’s earning on top of what he does. I suppose his work is religion based, but it is still a private company, independent from Ecclesial structures.

If he did it all voluntarily he would have no income, or he might have to cut back his output and take up a secular job.

Here’s an example of a professional Catholic. I know a senior academic who teaches Theology at a British University. This person is completely dissident on matters like Humane Vitae, womens’ ordination etc.

However, this person is (or has been) employed by the Bishops Conference of England and Wales for theological advice! Essentially the person gets a cut of the English collection plate money for being a modernist.

      Augustine,

“I’d like to find out how much Ronnie Convery earns”

Wouldn’t we all. When I sent for the archdiocesan accounts some years ago (and it was an uphill struggle to get them) the amount spent on salaries was global; no indication of what individuals earn. We can find out how much teachers, doctors, lawyers and nurses earn, but not church workers. Interesting.

Surely the paying laity has the right to that information?? Also, when I think that a certain priest – homosexual -living in sin down south is financially supported by the diocese, I see red. We stopped supporting the parish / diocese years ago.

There’s more than one homosexual priest living in sin down south supported by their respective dioceses, believe me . . . .

Thank you, Augustine and Miles Immaculatae for posting those videos.

They certainly help explain the previous ill-informed attacks on those Catholics who hold to the Faith held “everywhere, always, and by everyone.” I wonder who has been handing them their scripts for those attacks? As Michael Voris suggested, it looks like those ignorant attacks have turned out to be exercises in neo-caths aggressively shooting themselves in the foot.

I hope everyone is fighting off the temptation to morose delectation, or schadenfreude as the Germans like to say. I’m struggling a bit, to be honest.

I think the neo-caths would be well advised, if they are not doing so already, to start praying a Novena to the Infant Child of Prague. They’ll find that infinitely more beneficial than attacking Tradition.

It is possible that tied up with the secularist agenda is an even stranger “spiritual” one. I was amazed to find out that for twelve years the post of Assistant Secretary General to the United Nations was held by a man called Robert Muller, who was a disciple of Alice Bailey (a guru of the New Age), and who described himeslf as “shaman to the UN” and a spokesman of Christ!.

I have come across dissenting priests who seem to adhere to some sort of ecological philosophy but didn’t pay much attention to until I came across this:

    http://www.green-agenda.com/unitedfaith.html

This green movement seems to be promoted by an organisation called the Club of Rome which includes ex-politicians and UN Sec. Gens. Before he died a Fr Thomas Berry was very much involved and Hans Kung seems very tied up in all of this. It seems that they are trying to establish a Gaia cult in which the Earth is the object of worship by a humanity who are all enslaved to a form of collective consciousness. It sounds crazy but this ideology is gaining ground. Check out this website.

    http://populationmatters.org/

David Attenborough is a patron and he recently said that humanity was a cancer on the face of the earth. Other patrons of populationmatters can also be found mentioned on the previous website – members of the Club of Rome!

Many people are now describing themselves as “spiritual but not religious” as if this actually means something. However I fear that this is straight from this bizarre movement and this is actually not just impacting the Catholic Church but is actually, in part, being born from within. The Dalai Llama is also very involved as he is with a project that wants to put human consciuosness into a machine. This is all part of the agenda of Antichrist and the culture of death that masks itself behind the “useful idiots” of secularism.

I’m sorry if the links aren’t really links but I don’t know how to do this.

    Heloise,

Though I have to still to check out the population matters link, I did have a look at the one about the green agenda. It is all part and parcel of the new world order ideology. George HW Bush gave a speech about it
    on 11 September 1991.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MADYzQstpsU

Robert Muller cannot be both a shaman to the UN and a spokesman of Christ. For the first is a pagan/gnostic or even atheism term, which denies the Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and also the Redemption when He died on the Cross.

Robert Muller has a good companion in a Bishop Swing (episcopalian) who is determined to commit the rest of his life to create a united religion, which would in appropriately spiritual ways, parallel to the United Nations.

And I agree with you that it is part of the Antichrist and the culture of death.

      Theresa Rose,

I think it is very clear that the green agenda is the population control agenda, which is why it is shocking the priests and even bishops are speaking as if the green agenda is a good thing.

        Hello Theresa Rose and Lily,

There seems to be a concerted effort to destroy the link between sex and procreation which unites the green agenda with homosexuality and pornography. The hearts and minds of young people are the battlegrounds on which this war is being waged and it is the failure of the Church to put forward clear and reasoned arguments as to why these things are destructive that shows them up for being corrupt. It is this sin of omission that is even more devastating than the seemingly widespread sexual abuse.

I have been dumbstruck by this failing. No one is explaining to young people why the Christian religion emphasises purity and healthy male/female sexual and loving relationships. If they then decide that it is nonsense then that is their free will, but at the moment the control exerted over young minds by modern forces gives them the illusion of freedom whilst robbing them of any free will. We can no longer expect Young people to submit themselves to the rigours of faith without explaining to them WHY they are doing it – the modern mind and hardened heart demands a certain kind of rational explication.

It seems to me that the reason many people in the Church are not doing this is because they don’t know why their religion demands it. It is not enough to posit long and complex theological arguments about the body. Anybody who honestly confronts the harsh reality of sex knows that it is a day to day battle to reconcile the struggle for faith (which in itself is hard enough) and the demands of the body. The Church’s failing in this area is plastered across the papers nearly every week. It has become lost in intellectualism and seems at sea in the world of flesh and blood.

I followed a link from this blog to the work of German writer, Gabriele Kuby who has written in this area and was dismayed to find that there are no English translations. It seems that the English-speaking world wishes to remain blind in this area. It seems to me that no one wants to use the “G” word any more – it seems as if it is an embarrassment. Bishops and archbishops seem more comfortable with the gay word than the God word.
