Quito - Prophecies For Our Times...

Our Lady of Good Success was quite clear on what would be the demise of the Catholic Church (in 20th century) — the general theme–a lax and perverse clergy. Certain members of the Catholic clergy would become as thieves stealing that Tabernacle light…thieves that would steal what is rightfully ours by virtue of our baptism in the Catholic Church—our Faith. They would rob us of Doctrine, Dogma and Tradition—ransacking the Church as it were leaving us in total darkness without even as much as the light of the Sanctuary Lamp (which signifies the presence of the Holy Eucharist—Jesus Christ, Himself). Our Lady of Good Success went into great detail to explain what the five reasons were for the extinguishing of the light.

The first reason why the lamp was snuffed out was because in the end of the 19th Century and the 20th Century, heresies would prevail not only in Ecuador but universally. “As these heresies spread and dominate, the precious light of Faith will be extinguished in souls by the almost total corruption of customs.” (8)

The second reason was that in these times the Conceptionist Community would shrink and even be infected with bad attitudes and false charity as a result of the pervading situation of the Church at the time. Many vocations would be lost as a direct result. “The faithful souls would suffer a continuous and slow martyrdom, weeping in secret and imploring that such dire times be shortened.” (9)

The third reason the lamp failed was due to the fact that during this century a worldwide campaign against the virtues of chastity, and purity would succeed in ruining the youth. Our Lady of Good Success affirmed, “There will be almost no virgin souls in the world”(10)

The fourth reason the lamp was put out was to demonstrate how the Masonic and other secret sects would have so much influence on society and even the Church. “During these unfortunate times,” she foretold, “evil will invade childhood innocence. In this way, vocations to the priesthood will be lost, resulting in a true calamity.” (11)

Our Lady of Good Success could foresee that there would still be some good, faithful religious that would be willing to suffer all for the salvation of souls and sustenance of the Holy Catholic Church. “The secular clergy will leave much to be desired because priests will become careless in their sacred duties. Lacking the divine compass, they will stray from the road traced by God for the priestly ministry, and they will become attached to wealth and riches, which they will unduly strive to attain. How the Church will suffer during this dark night! Lacking a prelate and a father to guide them …many priests will lose their spirit, placing their souls in great danger.” (12)

The poor priestly souls that would be left to uphold the Church would suffer greatly.

“Against them the impious will rage a cruel war, overwhelming them with vituperations, calumnies and vexations in order to stop them from fulfilling their ministry. But they, like firm columns, will remain unswerving and will confront everything with a spirit of humility and sacrifice with which they will be vested, by virtue of the infinite merits of my most Holy Son, Who will love them in the innermost fibres of His Most Holy and Tender Heart.(13)

Our Lady of Good Success implored that the people of this time should “clamour insistently” to the Heavenly Father for an end to ‘these ominous times’ sending to the Church a prelate and father who would restore the spirit to the priests”. (14)

The fifth reason the lamp went out was due to those who have the financial means to help the Church but do nothing. Because of their uncaring attitude toward God and His Church, they would have allowed evil to seemingly triumph.

Due to the extreme wickedness that Mother Mariana saw in these visions of our era, she fainted and remained unconscious for two days. The doctor, unable to revive her, expected her death to be at hand. But Mother Mariana miraculously awoke and returned to health to live another year.

So important was this message for the world that Mother Mariana’s last thoughts were of this devotion and the message of Our Lady of Good Success. Recorded in Mother Mariana’s Last Will and Testament she stated:  “While the Divine Master hung from that shameful gibbet of the Cross with His life slowly ebbing away amidst almost infinite pain and torment, He spoke the fourth word or testament which He bequeathed to mankind by giving us His own Mother for our mother. He thus addressed the Virgin, saying ‘Woman, behold thy son,’ the beloved disciple. And turning to him said, ‘Behold thy Mother.’ ……: Behold your Heavenly Mother, Mary Most Holy of Good Success. She will always give you good success.”

There are a number of things omitted in the above blog article, including one key point about “the one who should speak out” (when marriage and morals are under attack) “falling silent.” Given that Pope Francis has just announced to the world that he plans to fall silent on key moral issues, I think it is important to reflect on these words of Our Lady, spoken to Mother Mariana at Quito in the 17th century:

“As for the Sacrament of Matrimony, which symbolizes the union of Christ with His Church, it will be attacked and deeply profaned. Freemasonry, which will then be in power, will enact iniquitous laws with the aim of doing away with this Sacrament, making it easy for everyone to live in sin and encouraging procreation of illegitimate children born without the blessing of the Church.

The Catholic spirit will rapidly decay; the precious light of Faith will gradually be extinguished until there will be an almost total and general corruption of customs. Added to this will be the effects of secular education, which will be one reason for the death of priestly and religious vocations.

The Sacrament of Holy Orders will be ridiculed, oppressed and despised, for in this Sacrament, the Church of God and even God Himself, is scorned and despised since He is represented in His Priests. The Devil will try to persecute the ministers of the Lord in every possible way; he will labour with cruel and subtle astuteness to deviate them from the spirit of their vocation and will corrupt many of them. These depraved priests, who will scandalize the Christian people, will make the hatred of bad Catholics and the enemies of the Catholic and Apostolic Church fall upon the priests. This apparent triumph of Satan will bring enormous suffering to the good pastors of the Church, the many good priests, and the Supreme Pastor and Vicar of Christ on earth, who, a prisoner in the Vatican, will shed secret and bitter tears in the presence of his God and Lord, beseeching light, sanctity and perfection for all the clergy of the world, of whom he is King and Father.

Further, in these unhappy times, there will be unbridled luxury which will ensnare the rest into sin and conquer innumerable frivolous souls who will be lost. Innocence will almost no longer be found in children, nor modesty in women. In this supreme moment of need of the Church, the one who should speak will fall silent.” Source

Good magazine on Our Lady of Good Success here:- http://www.chiesaviva.com/413%20en.pdf I also strongly urge people to read The Admirable Life of Mother Mariana (volumes I and II) by Fr Manuel Sousa Pereira.

      Westminster Fly,

Many thanks for that link – I’ve just had a quick look at it and it looks really good. I’m looking forward to reading it properly asap.

Thank you, too, for the book recommendation.

The prophesies made by Our Lady to Mother Mariana is truly frightening. How people can deny apparitions such as this, and Fatima is astonishing, because everything spoken is without error and has actually come to fruition. I mean, these apparitions prophesied the heresy after the 2nd Vatican Council, the paedophile Priest scandal and also heretic Priests who support women Priests and other moral evils. Look up Roy Bourgeois. I think Francis ‘is the one who will fall silent’, due to his comments on ‘we should stop talking about abortion, homosexuality and contraception’.

    End times coming.

I may well be wrong, but to the best of my knowledge ‘The End Times’ alludes to the ‘era of the Anti-Christ’ which precedes the ‘Second Coming of Christ’. What we are going through now is a period of chastisement, It could get worse, a lot worse. Our Lady promised a period of peace in the world, which is the Triumph of Her Immaculate Heart, the ‘sixth age of the Church’. This must happen first, before ‘End Times’.

I think so, too. A lot of good prophecies seem to be saying that Our Lady has a great victory and the Church flourishes, and many (or all) nations are converted. Some time after that great period the world sinks into sin again, the Anti-Christ is born and the devil attacks the Church from the outside. But there might be someone who resembles the Anti-Christ this time.
Along with Our Lady of Good Success and Fatima, I think St. Louis de Monfort tells us how Our Lady wins her victory. His prayer begging God for an Army of missionary priests is breathtaking. It’s the one where he cries, “Fire! Fire! Fire! Help! Help! Help!” I can’t link to it and it’s too long to paste but it’s very clear that Our Lady’s heel, priests, unite and fight and crush the devil’s head.

Yes, I suppose there is ‘anti-Christ’ in all the ages of the Church’s history: the anti-Christ simply being that/he which/whom denies the Divine Humanity of Christ, whether it/he be Gnostic, Talmudic, Mohammedan, Freemasonic, Atheistic materialist/ Secular Humanist etc.

      Catholicconvert1,

That’s what I think as well – that everything is happening exactly as prophesied as far back as the17th century is just mind blowing. How anyone can ignore these prophecies is anybody’s guess.

  • 3littleshepherds

I’ve read this prophecy several times and I’m always stunned by how perfectly our times are described. I think the spoken text of the Third Secret must be very frank like this too if not more so.
I know some of (maybe quite many) of the SSPX priests have a devotion to Our Lady Of Good Success.
The part about the Holy Father being a prisoner in the Vatican is interesting, is that to come or was Our Lady speaking about Pope Pius IX? It could be the vision Blessed Jacinta saw of the Holy Father in a big house praying to the Immaculate Heart.

“I think the spoken text of the Third Secret must be very frank like this too if not more so”

I’ve sometimes wondered if a major reason for the suppression of the text of the Third Secret is because it implicates Vatican II, so I agree with you about the “if not more so” – I have no doubt that the Third Secret will be very frank about the crisis in the Church. Hence its suppression.

“I know some of (maybe quite many) of the SSPX priests have a devotion to Our Lady Of Good Success”

That will be, I think, because of Our Lady’s reference to God sending (in our times) “a prelate who would restore the priesthood”. That has to be Archbishop Lefebvre.

      3LittleShepherds,

I always think the prophecy about the pope being prisoner in the Vatican is a future pope – perhaps this Pope or Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. I think it’s connected to the vision in the Third Secret.

      • 3littleshepherds

        Josephine
You must be right that the Pope being a prisoner in the Vatican is a future event since it occurs after the devil’s apparent victory against the priesthood. It does sound like the vision of the third secret.
I wonder if Pope Emeritus Benedict xvi is bound by an oath not to reveal the text of the Third Secret? That sounds like a trick question.

The appearance of Our Lady at Quito and again at Fatima are linked. How can it be otherwise? The prophesis are so clear, yet how many are in denial over what is happening today?

When in 1960 the Third Secret should have been made public by Pope John XXIII, it was not, and said to be NOT for this time. In August 1962, two months before Vatican II began, the Metz Pact was agreed upon, by which communism would NOT be condemned. We are seeing Our Lady’s prophesies come true.

John Salza in linking Quito and Fatima says in this link http://www.scripturecatholic.com/feature-articles/Presentation%20-%20Fatima%20Rome%202011%20-%20transcript.pdf

That the Catholic Church has been so well infiltrated by freemasonry so as to change the mindset of those who should be shepherds of the Catholic Church so to bring an end to it. Freemasonry certainly goes in for long term planning, to bring its ideology to fruition.

But Our Lady will prevail, and Russia will be consecrated to her Immaculate Heart.

      Theresa Rose,

It really astonished me to discover that the Quito apparitions took place before Freemasonry actually began. How amazing is that?

Thank you for that John Salza link which is very interesting because John Salza was a Freemason himself and quite high ranking at that.

Here’s a part of St. Louis de Monfort’s prayer.
Seest Thou, Lord, God of battles, seest Thou the captains who are forming full battalions, the potentates who are assembling whole fleets, the merchants gathering in large numbers at the markets and the fairs? Crowds of robbers, drunkards, libertines, impious men are uniting against Thee every day -and so easily and promptly. The sound of a whistle, the beat of a drum, the sight of a blunt sword-tip, the promise of a withered laurel wreath, the offer of a bit of gold or silver; in a word, a breath of fame and earthly interest, a vile pleasure for which they long can, in a moment, unite robbers as one, call forward soldiers, assemble battalions, bring together merchants, fill houses and market places and cover the earth and the sea with an innumerable multitude of the reprobate, who, although divided among themselves by the places whence they come, by the differences in their dispositions or by their personal interests, are nevertheless united as one man, until death, to fight against Thee under the banner and the leadership of the demon.

And we, great God! Although there is so much glory and profit, so much sweetness and so many advantages to be gained by serving Thee, shall there be so few to take up Thy cause? Hardly any soldiers under Thy banner! Nary a St. Michael to proclaim among Thy brethren in zeal for Thy glory: Who is like unto God?

Ah, let me cry out everywhere: Fire! Fire! Fire! Help! Help! Help! Fire even within the sanctuary! Help for our brother who is being murdered! Help for our children whose throats are being cut! Help for our Father Who is being stabbed! If any man be on the Lord’s side, let him join with me (Ex. 32:26).

Let all good priests who are spread over the Christianworld, and those who are actually on the battlefield and those who have withdrawn from the combat to bury themselves in deserts and solitude, let them all come forward and unite with us — in unity there is strength — so that we may form, under the banner of the Cross, a well-regulated army in battle array, and together attack the enemies of God who have already sounded the alarm. They have shouted; they have raged; they have swelled their ranks. Let us break their bonds asunder; let us cast away their yoke from us. He that dwelleth in heaven shall laugh at them (Ps. 2:3-4). Let the Lord arise, and let His enemies be dispersed.

The priests above are Davids against Goliath and they overcome Goliath with the rosary. I think the future holds some vast rosary crusade, something all for Our Lady and with Our Lady and then comes Her Triumph.

Does anyone know where I can find the account of the revelations of Quito in the original (presumably) Spanish?

    September 26, 2013 at 10:19 pm
    • Josephine

      PewCatholic,

I wouldn’t know where to get the original Spanish, but I found this a very interesting article indeed. I’ve copied an extract and the link.

“Since the middle of this [twentieth] century much as been said, both pro and con, about the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin of Good Success to her daughter Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres, a Founding Mother and elected Abbess of the Royal Monastery of Immaculate Conception of Quito in the year 1593 at age 30. Some, the credulous and weak-hearted, were shocked by the prophetic messages by the Mother of God, many that had been fulfilled with verifiable dates in History. Others, the skeptics and incredulous, shook their heads and dismissed the prophecies, not wanting to know such things that might agitate the stagnant waters of their consciences. Among the different opinions, both pro and con, were the voices of high and low clergy.

The miraculous statue of Our Lady of Good Success

In order to answer those objections, Cardinal Carlos Maria de la Torre, a Prelate known for his lucid and serene spirit and his ardent devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, entered the picture. The Cardinal appointed a Commission made up of learned priests versed in History and Theology to study the original manuscript of the apparitions and prophecies written by Fr. Manuel Sousa Pereira, OFM, titled The Admirable Life of the Venerable Mother Marian a Francisca de Jesus Torres.

The Commission carried out its assignment with all diligence, impartiality and appeal to orthodoxy, and ended by declaring that these sources were “authentic, untampered with, and worthy of belief.”

I’d just like to offer a word of caution about the site Tradition in Action (TIA). There is certainly some excellent articles and information there (and I believe the material posted by Josephine on Our Lady of Good Success is fine) but I’m not 100% sure about the site itself. I’m merely echoing what a trusted traditional leaning priest said to me once – and since his caution I’ve more or less avoided it. If anyone else has knowledge about the people running TIA which might allay any uncertainties, that would be helpful, but, for the moment, consider yourselves under caution!

Whilst we are on the subject of TIA, I read a piece on there that discussed ‘Communion under both kinds’. It said that the Council of Trent stated that Communion must be administered under one kind, particularly the bread, as opposed to the wine. Communion under both kinds is present in the Bible, look at the Last Supper and by St Paul in I Corinthians 11:28. It was common practice until the Middle Ages when both the Church and Society became more hierarchical and due to increasing demands to be holy, the wine was no longer administered to the laity, only to the Priest, lest the laity become somehow disrespectful to it. I fail to see how a gulp of wine could make people ‘rowdy’ or irreverent. I partly think it has something to do with the Protestant theologians who helped Paul VI create the New Mass. I personally will receive only one kind, for tradition’s sake, but also because I have a germ phobia and could not drink out of the chalice after someone else. Why would Communion both kinds be required when Christ is present in one species?

    September 28, 2013 at 1:31 pm
    • Miles Immaculatae

A simple rebuttal: Our Lord blesses both the Wine and the Bread during the institution of the Holy Eucharist, you are correct, this is in Sacred Scripture. However, consider the only persons present with Our Lord were men, His Apostles, who were priests; not merely lay persons. They were ‘co-ministers’ in this sacred event, not lay members of a congregation.

We are very used to hearing the early Church did this, the early Church did that. This has been one of the main methods of the liturgical reform. It is the heresy of archaeologism. We were told the early Church received Holy Communion in the hand as well, and they offered Mass facing the people, which turns out to be complete nonsense.

Don’t do anything solely for Tradition’s sake, then we’ll be accused of making an idol of empty nostalgia, as we have been. Keep Tradition because it’s the right thing to do, the Truth, the only truly venerable and holy way.

        Miles Immaculatae,

This error (of harking back to antiquity in the Liturgy) is roundly condemned by Pope Pius XII..

“The same reasoning holds in the case of some persons who are bent on the restoration of all the ancient rites and ceremonies indiscriminately. The liturgy of the early ages is most certainly worthy of all veneration. But ancient usage must not be esteemed more suitable and proper, either in its own right or in its significance for later times and new situations, on the simple ground that it carries the savor and aroma of antiquity. The more recent liturgical rites likewise deserve reverence and respect. They, too, owe their inspiration to the Holy Spirit, who assists the Church in every age even to the consummation of the world.[52] They are equally the resources used by the majestic Spouse of Jesus Christ to promote and procure the sanctity of man.”

        Mediator Dei # 61

Some, of course, will consider the above extract from Mediator Dei to justify the new Mass. Not so. That’s a whole different question.

        September 28, 2013 at 3:34 pm
  • catholicconvert1

But why should the laity not take the wine? Is it because when they drink from the chalice, is it because they administer it to themselves, as opposed to the Priest? Why did the Church never practise intinction? That way the Priest does the administering and the people receive Communion under both kinds.
