18th Century Warnings Of The Crisis To Come In The Catholic Church

One hundred years before the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, Blessed Elizabeth Canori Mora received prophetic revelations that spoke of the current crisis in the Church, the Great Chastisement and the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart. Blessed Elizabeth Canori Mora was born in 1774 and lived in Italy until her saintly death in 1825. On instructions from her confessor, she wrote down her revelations which fill hundreds of notebook pages. Today, the manuscripts are safely kept in the archives of the Trinitarian Fathers at San Carlino, Rome.

Westminster Fly posted the above video on our General Discussion thread late last night, asking if anyone had seen it. I hadn’t. Nor had I heard of Blessed Elizabeth Canori Mora. What about you?

Terrifying. I used to think that mystics and visionaries gave physical images to explain events happening on the spiritual plane which we, inhabiting the earthly plane, are at present unable to apprehend. Thus, the devastation of Rome, which we hear described in so many prophecies as a physical event, would be fulfilled in a spiritual devastation such as we are witnessing today.

Now I’m not so sure. Some time ago there was a link on the blog to a video of an American lady who was talking about Malachi Martin. My memory is rotten, but I think she was saying that MM told her that the chastisement would not be nuclear, or natural, but that we were to continually ‘look at the sky’.

I’d love to know if any bloggers have pondered these things and reached their own conclusions.

Yes, I remember that link well even though I, too, can’t remember which one it is! My thoughts are that these chastisements will be literally what they say. Einstein (I think) and Lord Mountbatten said words to the effect that “if there is a third world war, the fourth one will be fought with bows and arrows or sticks” or words to that effect. This could explain why Sister Lucia saw the “soldiers pursuing the bishop in white” with such weapons.

Britain and America have been fighting men with bows and arrows in Afghanistan for years now.

I forgot to mention that they also used sticks and stones and wore flip -flops. No wonder the british tanks and harrier jets didn’t stand a chance.

… And lots of weapons that were given to the Taliban by the Americans, who funded them when they were fighting the Soviets.

That’s when Thatcher was calling Bin Laden a friend and a Freedom Fighter.

Mind you, the weapons were well outdated compared to Apache helicopters and drones.

I think that lady was at the Fatima: Path To Peace conference last year. Elsewhere Fr. Martin said the Third Secret warns of the three days of darkness. Sometimes we’ve wondered if the Third Secret is the little scroll the angel has in chapter 10 of the Apocalypse. Saint John understands what is written and is about to write it down, but is commanded not to. It announces the seven thunders. In Fr. Herman Kramer’s Book Of Destiny he writes that St. Bridget learned through revelation that the Seven Thunders are threats decreed from heaven against the persecutors of the Church. So maybe the Third Secret is the Seven Thunders?
I think there are various prophecies that predict the waning of English power, the destruction of Paris, the destruction or partial destruction of Rome, the exile of a Pope and that he is killed, the apparent victory of the enemies of God, the three days of darkness in which the enemies of God perish, the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart, and the conversion of Russia and of every other nation. Plus, within all of that is Russia over running Europe, terrible natural disasters, the Great Monarch, and some kind of judgement from God that enlightens each person’s conscience.

      3LittleShepherds,

“I think there are various prophecies that predict the waning of English power…”

That’ll be Alex Salmond talking šŸ˜€

I agree that these prophecies very likely reveal that the chastisement will be physical, as described. I think the spiritual chastisement is – as great saints have said – bad priests. That is a sure sign that God is displeased, or so the great spiritual experts say.

    Editor,

I agree. Take a look at Ezekiel Chapter 34:

34:1 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 ā€œSon of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy, and say to them, even to the shepherds, Thus says the Lord God: Ah, shepherds of Israel who have been feeding yourselves! Should not shepherds feed the sheep? 3 You eat the fat, you clothe yourselves with the wool, you slaughter the fat ones, but you do not feed the sheep. 4 The weak you have not strengthened, the sick you have not healed, the injured you have not bound up, the strayed you have not brought back, the lost you have not sought, and with force and harshness you have ruled them. 5 So they were scattered, because there was no shepherd, and they became food for all the wild beasts. 6 My sheep were scattered; they wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill. My sheep were scattered over all the face of the earth, with none to search or seek for them.

7 ā€œTherefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: 8 As I live, declares the Lord God, surely because my sheep have become a prey, and my sheep have become food for all the wild beasts, since there was no shepherd, and because my shepherds have not searched for my sheep, but the shepherds have fed themselves, and have not fed my sheep, 9 therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: 10 Thus says the Lord God, Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will require my sheep at their hand and put a stop to their feeding the sheep. No longer shall the shepherds feed themselves. I will rescue my sheep from their mouths, that they may not be food for them.

        Editor,

It just rolls off the tongue!

Seriously, scripture has warned of a time when the Church would be punished with bad shepherds. Why should we be surprised? I agree wholeheartedly with all the comments here – we’ve been well warned!

“I will rescue my sheep from their mouths, that they may not be food for them.”

      Dominie,

Bound to be an improvement, surely? Goodness, it’d be an improvement if St Jude elected the next pope. Just make sure it’s neither of the two new pope “saints”. Otherwise, we’d be looking at Pope Hans Kung. You have to laugh… šŸ˜€

That’s a very frightening video. Put it together with the apparitions of Our Lady of Good Success in Ecuador, and it seems that humanity was being well prepared for the Fatima appearances and messages in 1917.

Put it all together with the Old Testament stories of how God warned his people over and over again before punishing them, and it makes it all very believable. There really won’t be any room for excuses. God is giving us plenty of warning that time will come when we will be punished for the disorientation in the twentieth century.

The bit about the Freemasons was very interesting indeed and if I’m not mistaken, they were also mentioned by OLGS at Quito, though not by name, “evil sect” I think was the term. There’s no question that they are at work in the Vatican IMHO. We know the background, we know about the warnings of what is going to happen; all we have yet to find out is when it’s going to happen.

    Michaela,

I thought the video terrifying. I agree with you about putting it together with the apparitions of Our Lady of Good Success, true, that humanity was being well prepared for the Fatima appearances and message in 1917.
Even the apparitions at Akita in 1973 give warning of chastisements to come.

      Theresa Rose,

As Westminster Fly said when he sent me the video, we can’t say we weren’t warned! With bells on…

It is very interesting, Editor, thank you for the video! and since that time the Virgin Mary predicted these events at many occasions, notably at La Salette.
    Keep up the Faith!

I have always felt uncomfortable with La Salette. It’s partly because of the image of Our Lady crying – how can she cry coming from Heaven, being in the presence of God all the time? I don’t know what to think but this article didn’t make me think too well of it, as parts of it, a lot of it, sounds improbable. http://www.arcaneknowledge.org/catholic/lasalette.htm

I am a bit of a cynic, so maybe that’s why I find it hard to take, it seems different from other approved apparitions.

The video is terrifying. What makes it more so, is that we have been warned by the Mother of God in Ecuador, Fatima and Akita and it has not made a difference.

Don Bosco in his dreams saw his boys being gored by bulls, swallowed by serpents and trampled by elephants but there was always a safe spot to which these boys could have retreated- under the mantle of Our Lady. Made me wonder if the trees in the vision, represented Our Lady under whose mantle the few would survive in order to restore the Church (have to look at the video again).

      Jobstears,

Yes the video is terrifying, and as an American you will also find this report about an American nun who has written to Obama urging him to fund abortions overseas almost as terrifying.

I’ve been wondering what the dissenters and heretics think if and when they ever view the kind of writings and videos that we discuss. My gut feeling is that they don’t believe in God at all, and hence will regard these things are so much baloney.

But Westminster Fly’s words about the chastisement keep ringing in my ears: nobody can say we haven’t been warned. And when that time comes, their defence will be no defence at all.

      • Vianney

It’s unbelievable that a nun would even consider signing this kind of letter but, as my granny would say, she’ll think differently when the fires of hell are licking up her back.

      • jobstears

It is mind boggling that the nun would think abortion to be a moral imperative! I don’t know what these heretics and dissenters think, if they think at all, about the supernatural reality, except to believe they are somehow exempt from the justice of God. St. Francis of Assisi was afraid to going to hell even on his deathbed, and he lived a life of penance and reparation, and we who need it most, don’t give hell a thought!

        Jobstears,

It is a sobering thought that someone who has made religious vows of obedience, poverty and chastity could have the remotest sympathy for legalised abortion, let alone promote it. No wonder God sent His mother to warn us well in advance. Otherwise it would be just too difficult to hang on to the Faith, it seems to me.

I’m curious about this – I keep saying that but for Fatima, Quito, Akita and the above mystic, prophesying ahead of time, what was to come in our period of history, I doubt very much if I would still be a Catholic today, seeing the scandals around us. But what about others. Would the rest of you have strong enough faith to stay the course, even if we didn’t have Fatima to remind us that God remains with His Church?

Interesting question, Editor. The Church today is like one of those drawings which show a different image when you look at it from a different angle – totally bewildering. Perhaps it would be best to disregard a Church gone mad, and work out one’s own faith. But look what happened when people started doing that in the sixteenth century …

        May 23, 2014 at 12:58 pm
      • jobstears

Editor, like you, I doubt I’d still be Catholic except for Our Lady. If it were not for Our Lady warning us about fashions that would offend God, and the diabolical plan to destroy modesty and purity in the young, would we have the moral compass to see the trends in fashion and the loss of morals as sinful? Especially when the Popes suggest we need to get with the times, so to speak? I am inclined to that Catholics who have never heard of these apparitions or who disregard the messages of Our Lady- Fatima, Quito and Akita-will tend to be indistinguishable from their non-Catholic counterparts in terms of morals, and practicing the little devotions that enrich Catholic life, but perhaps most of all, in seeing the need for making sacrifices in reparation.

I, too, think that video is terrifying and I agree that it will be a physical and chilling chastisement when it comes. I also think that the dissenters won’t be worrying about it because they are really unbelievers, apostates.

We all should do our part, getting enrolled in the Brown Scapular, saying our daily rosary and making the First Five Saturdays. It’s more urgent than ever that we do these things IMHO.

“nobody can say we havenā€™t been warned. And when that time comes, their defence will be no defence at all.”

Reminds me of the wee free minister telling his congregation they were all going to hell for their sins and that they would all cry to God saying “Lord, Lord, we didnae ken,” and the Lord answered “Ah weel, ye ken noo.”

      Vianney,

I think your wee free minister friend must be related to this Anglican vicar…

Burglar: “One move and you’re dead. I’m looking for money”.

Vicar: “Hang on, let me get a light and I’ll help you”.
