The Hollie Greig Story – Why Are Alarm Bells Ringing in Scotland?
The story of Hollie Greig is fairly well known in Scotland but, for those who may not be familiar with it, we include a brief summary below. The information has been provided by those campaigning for “justice for Hollie” and is published here in good faith for the purpose of enabling discussion. If anything is inaccurate or untrue, we expect that to be exposed in the course of the debate. What we do not expect is that anyone should be named, against whom allegations have been made. The discussion must be underpinned by the principle, “Innocent until proven guilty” – please and thank you…
Catholic Truth is not part of the campaign for “justice for Hollie”. We don’t DO “justice” campaigns. Indeed, we’ve often been asked to publish a thread on the issues but having read some claims that the whole think is a hoax, we’ve resisted all requests to date. However, the circumstances surrounding the arrest and imprisonment of Robert Green, one of those campaigning for Hollie, sent alarm bells ringing.
After all, if all stops are (rightly) to be pulled out to rid the Catholic Church of any and all child abuse, then the same standards must surely be applied to other institutions (whether the BBC or political and legal institutions) when similar allegations are levelled at members of those professions.
So, tell us what you think: should there be a thorough police enquiry into the Hollie Greig abuse allegations?
Summary:
1. Hollie Greig made serious allegations of child sex abuse to Aberdeen Police in 2000 and named 22 alleged abusers and 7 alleged victims (in addition to herself). The alleged abusers include social workers, a judge, a senior police forensics officer (since deceased) and two Head Teachers.
2. Until now the Aberdeen Police have refused to interview more than at most 2 of the 22 named suspects and none of the 7 victims named by Hollie.
3. This refusal to properly and thoroughly investigate Hollie Greig’s allegations is despite the fact that 2 medical doctors and 2 clinical psychologists have examined her and their findings have supported her allegations that she was sexually abused.
Furthermore, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority examined Hollie’s allegations, accepted that she had been abused and awarded her £13,500 in compensation for this.
4. All that Robert Green has been campaigning for is for the Aberdeen Police to properly and thoroughly investigate Hollie Greig’s allegations – that is their job and their duty, especially given the sheer gravity of Hollie’s allegations.
Sad sign of our times that if Hollie had alleged to police that these people had engaged in “Homophobic” activity the police would have thoroughly investigated it like a shot but to them alleged child sex abuse is perceived as not important.
5. For his campaigning Robert Green has been arrested by the Aberdeen Police at least 3 times so far. Arrested and investigated by the very same police force he’s trying to get to properly and thoroughly investigate Hollie Greig’s allegations of child sex abuse.
6. Robert Green is definitely innocent but even if you thought he somehow deserved to be arrested that does not alter the fact that he has a human right to have the defence Barristers he needs to defend himself and to have the Legal Aid he urgently needs to hire them.
Anthony Bennett, critic of the Hollie Greig campaign has already been totally and very publicly discredited. For example, see below:
Madeleine McCann campaigner Tony Bennett guilty of publishing …
Retired lawyer faces jail for ‘harassing’ Kate and Gerry McCann …
Madeleine McCann contempt case: retired solicitor found guilty | UK …
On 9 September 2003 the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found him “guilty of conduct unbefitting a solicitor On 15 October 2009 he voluntarily removed himself from the Roll.
And what qualifications and authority does Bennett have as an officially discredited ex-solicitor who had to leave his profession after disciplinary proceedings, to then appoint himself police, judge and jury in the Hollie Greig case and acquit all the alleged abusers named by Hollie even though they have never ever been properly investigated by the police?“
All Robert Green is urging is for the police to do their job which is to properly and thoroughly investigate allegations of criminal activity, especially of serious criminal activity such as Holiie Greig’s allegations of child sex abuse. END…

We must remember that this is the second time that Robert Green has been in prison, fighting for justice for Hollie Greig. This time he has spent at least three months in Perth HMP, without any kind of court hearing. And what is he accused of? Non compliance to a non- harassment order, for which it appears there is no paper work.
Does the way he has been treated sound a little disproportionate?
By the sound of the way the Scottish legal system seem to have blown due legal process to the wind- as though they were putting in emergency measures to deal with a major threat to the system, as in times of war- this is no mere minor case. It seems to me that we are dealing with issues considerably greater than one set of private individuals feeling that Robert is harassing them. It points to major corruption and perversion of the course of justice.
All that Robert Green is asking for is freedom of information, which may have become shredded, and a proper investigation.
This reminds me of the elderly gent who was jailed for handing out anti-abortion literature in England.
Frankier,
Me, too. It’s the easy targets they choose every time. Poor Ted Atkinson, disabled, using two walking sticks and crutches – given an ASBO! Unbelievable. And now it’s Robert Green’s turn, for merely asking for a full police investigation into Hollie Greig’s allegations of child abuse.
Truly, you couldn’t make it up.

Have any of the people alleged to be involved in the paedophile ring taken legal action against Hollie and/or her mother?
“After all, if all stops are (rightly) to be pulled out to rid the Catholic Church of any and all child abuse, then the same standards must surely be applied to other institutions (whether the BBC or political and legal institutions)”
I completely agree and there are more and more cases being uncovered of paedophile rings since the Jimmy Savile cases came to light – the MP Cyril Smith, for example.
Saying that, though, there are some people who used to support the Hollie Greig campaign who changed their minds and think it’s all a scam of some kind. So, how do we know it’s not? Personally, I can’t imagine any mother putting her Down’s Syndrome daughter through what Hollie’s been through unless it’s true, but others think differently.
I think the only way to uncover the total truth is to have a public enquiry.
Margaret Mary,
I think the answer to your question (how do we know where the truth lies, is it a scam or not) is to have a full public enquiry or at least a thorough police investigation which is all Robert Green is asking for.
Er….. is this Scotland we are discussing, the one in the UK as opposed to the one in Siberia? You know, the one that has a sound and fair legal system?? Just wondering.
Helen,
I was just thinking that – we’re supposed to have the best legal system in the world, along with the best education system. Some hope.
Margaret Mary, we have many friends who are secondary school teachers and they all say that this government is wrecking the educational system. My husband says they are also wrecking the crofting legislation and agriculture in general, not to mention the appalling treatment meted out to fishermen. So, methinks, what makes the legal system any safer? When they removed the corroboration (which was unique to Scottish Criminal Law) recently, I knew that the writing was on the wall, so to speak. So this business of Hollie doesn’t surprise me at all.
We are living in a country that can jail you now for making the sign of the cross “aggressively” whatever that may entail.
Frankier,
Roseanna Cunningham MSP said that football fans, particularly where it concerns Rangers and Celtic, could be banned from singing God save the Queen, or making the sign of the Cross, in a manner that is reminiscent of sectarian bigotry or inciting violence. I support her stance. The fans sing these songs and make these signs to incite and wind up the opposing fans. We all know the trouble at Ranger .v. Celtic matches. Half of these dunderheaded morons who attend these hateful football matches have hardly ever seen the inside of a Church, Catholic or Protestant. I don’t think Ms Cunningham wants to come round to the Catholic Church and arrest Fr Murphy or Mrs Fionnula O’Shaughnessy, it’s all a matter of context.
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/new-anti-bigotry-crackdown-could-see-1106084
Catholic Convert,
Roseanna Cunningham MSP has picked an easy target with her ridiculous legislation. How does she know if someone is making the sign of the cross in an “aggressive” manner or not? I have no brief for either Rangers or Celtic fans who cause trouble but I do not think anyone should confuse Cunningham’s motives with someone who is concerned about sectarianism. Her lack of action on the bigotry at the Herald, subject of a thread on this blog recently, shows how insincere her supposed concern is. Her lack of action on serious bigotry like that at the Herald, is covered up by the nonsense of picking on football fans. Not many Scots have fallen for it. She’s been rumbled by most people of average intelligence.
It’s odd that she would pursue these people, a minority of fans in any case. Aren’t there more important issues to keep her busy – such as the Hollie Greig case, for example?
Why would someone make the sign of the Cross at a football match in the first place, particularly at matches involving teams as notorious and obnoxious as Celtic and Rangers? Obviously it is to wind up the opposing side.
Catholic Convert,
My brothers – among other relatives and friends, not to mention some of our staunchest reader supporters – are fervent followers of one of those “obnoxious” clubs, so watch it! I think you’d be well advised to safeguard against falling for the propaganda. A minority of fans cause trouble – not exactly breaking news, but certainly not the end of the world and it certainly doesn’t make the teams, per se, “obnoxious”. Perhaps if you read up on the origins of Celtic FC, you’ll get my drift. Please note: I hate sports, including football, so I’m speaking totally objectively.
As for making the sign of the Cross – I don’t like to see that myself at sports events but it’s hardly the stuff of legislation, especially the crackpot Roseanna Cunningham legislation. If she were remotely concerned about bigotry in Scotland she would not have sent me – via one of her minions – the daft reply I received in answer to my complaint about the ultra-bigoted Herald Scotland. As Nicky says, she’s gone for an easy target (football fans) in order to fool the useful idiots here in not so sunny Scotland into thinking that she’s actually bothered about and intends to act against, “sectarianism”. That’ll be the day.
Seems to me that she’s about as serious about eradicating anti-Catholicism (for which “sectarianism” is a euphemism, as a former First Minister of Scotland acknowledged) as the police appear to be about eradicating paedophilia. Aka the Hollie Greig abuse case.
Gerragrip time, again. Catholic Convert. Gerragrip time 😀

I know that Editor won`t wish this to end up arguing about football but the situation in Scotland goes deeper than you think.
I have to say that I resent very strongly your remarks about dunderhead morons who attend these matches having hardly ever seen the inside of a church. This is only parrot talk which has become quite boring. Try and think of something original to say.
I, many members of my extended family and many friends, 90% of them practising Catholics, have been going to Celtic Park for many years now and none of us that I know of is a dunderhead.
In fact, in the 80 seater bus going to the games there has always been around 10% of them protestants. This means that around 6,000 non-catholics go to all the Celtic home games. It doesn`t suit the MSM in Scotland to advertise this.
Roseanna Cunningham, who calls herself a liberal catholic. told a downright lie when she said that she has witnessed hundreds of Celtic fans making the sign of the cross aggressively. She never responded to my letter when I called her a liar.
Do you know how many times I have seen anyone making the sign of the cross at Celtic games aggressively or otherwise,, other than devout Celtic players like Pat Bonner, Artur Boruc and Tommy Burns who dedicated his book to Our Lady and attended Mass every day? For the answer deduct 1 from 1.
The situation in Scotland at the moment is that if you were going to or coming from a football match, went in to a cemetery to pay your respects to your parents, made the sign of the cross, was spotted by someone who was “offended” by this act, you can be charged under the Football Offences Act and could be jailed.
Even if the person who was offended was on his way to an orange walk.
Again, my wife sometimes collects me from a hostelry coming from a game. If, on the way home I was involved in a bit of road rage, not only I but my wife also would be charged under the same act. Simply because a football match was involved.
The same would apply even if I wasn`t at the game but had been watching it on the pub TV.
I went to the game where all this started. The losing team just couldn`t handle it and one of their players who was described by a former manager in England as a “sewer rat” caused havoc on the field, even threatening Neil Lennon. There was no trouble between the fans, none at all.
The next day, Christine Graham MSP said that things would have to be “evened up” between the supporters since it was always the R4nge&s fans who suffered. Alex Salmond saw an opportunity to nab a few votes and the rest, they say, is history.
This is the same Christine Graham who was reputed to have complained about “another £****ng Catholic getting a job in parliament”. Total sectarian filth and Salmond didn`t even reprimand her.
Frankier,
I’d returned here to add a ps to my own response to Catholic Convert asking that this thread not be hijacked to argue about football, but too late.
So, thanks for your thoughtful and factual response to him but I would ask that there be no more off topic comments.
I took a long time to respond to the many requests I’ve received over the years to allow discussion on the Hollie Greig abuse case, so I’m disappointed that it has been interrupted by an off topic discussion about football and daft, ignorant and/or bigoted MSPs. For your information, many of the requests I’ve received asking me to post on Hollie Greig have come from England. David Skinner, for example, has been energetically campaigning to free Robert Green, kindly including Catholic Truth in his email bulletins to keep us up to date with the situation, and I am 100% certain that neither he, nor any of the others from south of the border, is remotely interested in the issues surrounding Celtic Vs Rangers and the crackpot (so called) anti-sectarianism legislation.
Catholic Convert,
Please do not respond to either my own or Frankier’s comments here. If you feel you need to (and I sincerely hope you don’t) then use the General Discussion thread. Can’t see any need to though, because the facts speak for themselves, as does the propaganda. It should be obvious to you which is which.
On topic….
What do you both think of the treatment meted out to Robert Green? Is there any justifiable explanation for it?
Editor
Point Taken.
My post highlighting what I consider an anti-Catholic law concocted by the Scottish Assembly (I don`t count them a government) along with the one at 1:33pm was actually my way of showing that I felt that Mr Green was poorly treated, just in the same way as I would feel for anyone jailed for a paltry offence when other more serious crimes are swept under the carpet.
Having said that, I am surprised that the Hollie
Greig case is being highlighted here as it seems to me to be a world away from the norm, especially when no one has, as yet, been found guilty of any offence.
Frankier,
I think the Hollie Greig case is a good way of highlighting the double standards in the country today, vis a vis the Catholic Church and child sexual abuse. In the opening argument it says:
“After all, if all stops are (rightly) to be pulled out to rid the Catholic Church of any and all child abuse, then the same standards must surely be applied to other institutions (whether the BBC or political and legal institutions) when similar allegations are levelled at members of those professions.”
Those double standards are one good reason for having a discussion on the Hollie Greig case. So I don’t think it’s a “world away from the norm”. The whole point is that nobody will be found guilty of any offence as long as the authorities refuse to investigate. The authorities seem to be doing what the bishops of the Catholic Church are accused of doing, covering up paedophilia.
Nicky
I don`t agree.
I have been saying it for years now, the Catholic Church needs to stand on its own
2 billion feet and start fighting back. The turning of the cheek isn`t working.
This sitting back and taking a “cuddy-back” on someone else`s (like Hollie Greig) problems is certainly not the way I would go about it.
I agree that the Hollie Greig case should be mentioned but only along with plenty of other whatabouterys and the mentioning should be done in this country by the very quiet, it seems, archbishops of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
As I have also said before, why does everybody (in the Church hierarchy) sit back and allow the Pope to take all the flak about what happened in scores, or hundreds, of places all over the world? I have never ever heard of any of them asking the parents of abused children why they hadn`t spotted, by the victim`s body language even, that something was seriously happening to them.
When children are bullied at school the parents know right away.
I have also never ever heard of anyone, especially in the media, asking the victims why they went to a bishop to report a crime? Why didn`t any of them go to the police or a lawyer first, the same as any sane person who was the victim of a crime would do?
We have had a case recently in this country where a retired policeman was alleged to have raped and abused women for 25 years in the Ayrshire and Dumfries area while serving there.
These very serious crimes was committed under the noses of his workmates who included detectives and forensic experts. So why weren`t the chief constables of these areas covering the 25 years not questioned and blamed in the same way as the Pope?
Maybe these are the things that should be discussed here since the aforementioned
Church reps. are certainly not going to mention them.
Maybe if a few hard facts were thrown back in their faces the Church accusers would slip away quietly with their tail between their legs.
There is one certainty, being forever the nice guy doesn`t really work except in James Stewart movies.
And by the way, my original post regarding the draconian laws now being used in Scotland against innocent people who are always freed at court was meant to show sympathy with the way the law is being used against Mr Green.
I had no intention of using it as a football forum.
Nicky
Being a world away from the norm meant being a world away from Catholic Truth norm.
Trying to put the Church in order is a world away from a masonic cover-up in Aberdeen, if you don`t object to me saying so.
Please replace was with were in case the spelling police come to my door.
Thanks Frankier.
Nicky has actually answered the question you posed me, that the contradiction in the way the alleged paedophilia in the Church is pursued compared to the lack of thorough investigation into Hollie Greig’s allegations, is worthy of note.
Frankier,
Yet again, I am being criticised for choosing a topic that a particular blogger doesn’t think appropriate. Again, this is not something I ever read on other blogs. The “norm” for this blog, however, is anything that this slim, glamorous, witty, highly intelligent and 29 year old editor thinks will be of interest to Catholics struggling to make sense of life in the current diabolical disorientation in the Church and the world today 😀
In other words, there is a religious angle to EVERYTHING in this life, and so just about anything is a possible topic for discussion.
As for our choice of Hollie Greig’s allegations and not the multifarious other injustices around – well, I explained that in the introduction. Over the years (not weeks, not months) I have been asked to publish something on Hollie Greig’s alleged injustice. I’ve received NO requests to discuss any other injustices. Christina has submitted an excellent article on the Halal meat controversy which I have promised to publish for discussion soon. Doesn’t, on the face of it, seem like the “norm” for this blog but it is very pertinent, as you will (I hope) see when you read the piece. Not every thread can be about the Mass or Vatican II.
Now, Frankier, please do not take offence but as I keep telling all critics, if you do not approve of a topic, or do not want to contribute to it for any reason – don’t contribute but allow those who wish to do so, to discuss it, without unnecessary distraction. This has happened in the past with critics spoiling threads because they didn’t like the topic. Eventually, in each and every case, these same critics have gone off in a huff “threatening” never to blog here again. I cried into my pillow that night but then recovered and am living happily ever after 😀 I credit you with more maturity, but I just wish to emphasise that it’s really a pity to waste time and energy criticising a topic – when it’s already been published. What do you expect me to do? Delete the thread and say “sorry, Frankier”?
Your comments about the Church and child abuse also confuse me. It seems very obvious to me – although I repeat, I am a simple gal – that here we have “society” (i.e. the media) demanding that heads roll in the Catholic Church for alleged child abuse while they impose, it seems, a total blackout on sensational allegations of a paedophile ring involving politicians, educationalists and top legal eagles in Scotland. If you can’t see the need to highlight that double standard, then we will certainly have to agree to disagree.
For the record, I completely understood your original post about the anti-sectarian legislation, and it was a very good point. However, Catholic Convert has a flair for taking things in a particular way that is not intended, although that usually allows us to correct his misconceptions. Thus, I was happy enough to accept the “football” comments to that point and merely asked that we don’t go off at a further tangent to end up with a football thread. I think that’s perfectly reasonable.
I hope this clarifies matters a little. I appreciate, very much, your participation in this discussion given that you do not think it is appropriate for this blog, so please don’t feel you need to continue on this thread. There is a new thread now – more in keeping with what you describe as the “Catholic Truth norm” so I look forward to your thoughts on the video there.
PS I can’t see where you want me to replace “was” with “were” – could you state date and time of the naughty spelling misteak, and I’ll then cancel the visit from the Spelling Police. Please and thank you…
Helen,
Ironically, the removal of the corroboration rule should make investigating Hollie Greig’s allegations easier, not more difficult. It gets more and more mystifying why the authorities won’t act.
But removal of the corroboration rule surely means it is more likely that an innocent person may be suspected or even convicted of abuse?
Helen,
I have heard for quite some time that the education system in Scotland is being dumbed down. Who gains by this? No one, neither individuals or the country of residence. And does not the removal corroboration within the Scottish Criminal law make it more likely to lead to corruption?
Robert Green asks for a transparent investigation in regards to Hollie Greig’s allegations. I do not agree that he should be sentenced to one year in prison. Is there something to hide?
There are 2 videos to be seen, I think if you click on where it says “a human right”.
Am I not right in saying, that it was said that a someone walked away from a Scottish Court, who despite have a collection of child pornography. That person walked away from Court, no prison, no sentence of any description? Freed, without being convicted.
Does that mean, that there is a tacit approval of someone keeping a child pornography collection, and/or sexually abusing children? What chance does Hollie Greig, or any other child have then?
Margaret Mary
Just change the word best to worst and you will be nearer the truth.
Surely if these people are innocent they would move heaven and earth, or maybe hell and earth depending on their beliefs, to prove their innocence.
I mean, what chance would a young Downs Syndrome child who was lying have of outsmarting people in their positions if It came to an enquiry, or are they just happy to live the rest of their lives without proof either way?
Frankier,
Your post really says it all. I completely concur. If these people are innocent, as you say they would move heaven and earth to prove it, and a young Downs Syndome girl would have no chance of outsmarting the people she’s implicated, if she’s not telling the truth, for whatever reason (maybe just confused/mixed up).
There’s nothing to lose by having an enquiry but, as you say, without an enquiry they have to spend the rest of their lives with this hanging over their heads and have to live without proof either way. I can’t imagine what that would be like. I’d definitely want to clear my name so I can’t understand why the accused are letting this drag on.
What qualifies Hollie Greig’s detractors to be police, judge and jury over Hollie’s sex abuse allegations since ultimately it is up to those people to help determine whether Hollie’s allegations are true or not?
Although he believes that Hollie Greig has definitely been sexually abused, unlike Hollie Greig’s detractors Robert Green does not claim to definitely know whether the alleged abusers whom Hollie named are guilty or not.
Robert simply calls for a proper, transparent and thorough police investigation into Hollie’s allegations because that is the duty of the police, because of the strong likelihood that whoever abused Hollie is now abusing other children – perhaps on an industrial scale – and due to the very serious nature of the allegations.
And IF the alleged abusers are innocent then they should welcome a proper, transparent and thorough police investigation as an official way of clearing their names, instead of vehemently and vociferously opposing an investigation as some of them are doing.
Wilfred,
“And IF the alleged abusers are innocent then they should welcome a proper, transparent and thorough police investigation as an official way of clearing their names, instead of vehemently and vociferously opposing an investigation as some of them are doing.”
Exactly. Your comment hits the nail on the head. There’s nothing to be lost by having a public investigation, but to go to the lengths already gone to in an attempt to squash the whole thing, raises suspicions. It’s certainly raised mine.
I think there should be a full thorough independant investigation. I think the powers that be are covering up something sinister. I don’t think the Holie Greig situation will go away.
That the legal system can rouse itself to imprison the one voice asking for justice and let the abusers run around free, is evil but hardly surprising. For a Downs Syndrome child to have been abused and then not believed, is sadly, not surprising either, because these children are the most vulnerable, but for the police to do nothing? That is unbelievable!
Jobstears,
I absolutely agree with you, every word. It seems beyond credibility that the one person to be sent to prison is Robert Green who is only asking for a thorough police investigation. There’s obviously something to hide. It is quite worrying that this sort of thing can happen in modern Scotland.
I am a young student from Glasgow reading about The Hollie Greig case, and it shocks me. I also believe there should be a full investigation.
Over and over again one hears of situations exactly like this where sexual predation is covered up, by authorities of one sort or another. Does anyone have any theories as to why this should be so? It has happened in the Jimmy Saville case, and those of other ‘celebrities’. It has happened in the case of abuser priests. It has happened in cases of Asian gangs, and so on, and so on. And now this case, apparently reaching to the highest levels of the judiciary in Scotland. Is there a kind of sympathy for sexual evil hidden in the hearts of so many people who do not necessarily indulge in it? Contrariwise are ordinary decent people unable to believe that there can be such evil, and so are inclined to automatically disbelieve accusers? Are others so filled with disgust that they shy away from getting involved?
That is an interesting question you raise Christina to as to why these things are so often covered up. I think that in the case of ‘celebrities’ and in Hollie Greig’s case it is because of the positions of power of the abusers.
What I find incredible about the whole Hollie Greig / Robert Green situation is that none of the mainstream media report it. An Englishman is taken from his home and held in a prison in Scotland without charge for three months, and not one newspaper or media outlet has run the story! When you read the details of the story it raises more questions than the missing Malaysian plane, and not one major newspaper has reported it.
This suggests to me that whoever wants Robert Green silenced can even pull strings to silence the media!
PF
Who has more power than the Pope or more of a celebrity but there is no cover-up there.
Could it be because someone once said he was a Catholic?
Why not ask the media?
Crofterlady,
Since I want nothing whatsoever to do with The Herald, I’ll send the link to The Scotsman, a little later, if no-one else beats me to it.
I must admit I know nothing about this case. Just curious where the forenamed critic of the campaign, Anthony Bennett, fits into this. He must be a hideous man to heap yet more misery on the poor McCanns. Are there any links to his take on the case?
Burt,
I did Google Anthony Bennett before posting the introductory article but all I got were links to Tweets, with references to Hollie. Not being a Twit, I couldn’t follow through so I’ve emailed the campaigners for Hollie / Robert Green, to ask if they have more information. Watch this space…
Some time later that same day…
I’ve had a reply from one of the campaigners for Robert Green to say that Anthony Bennett does not have his own website but has made individual approaches to various campaigners on the Hollie Greig case to try and get them to stop supporting Robert Green and Hollie Greig.
As I’ve said, only Tweets come up when I Google him, so those of you on Twitter may find more information from that source.
A little later again, that same day…
I’ve had a reply from another campaigner who writes:
“…others and I have received long convincing emails from Anthony Bennett. In fact I realised I had his phone number from meeting him about three years ago. And so as soon as I had received his email, I telephoned him and he won me over completely. It was only by virtue of the fact that the very next morning I was travelling to a meeting in London with a group of Christian friends, that one of them immediately cried out in amazement, saying that she knew Anthony Bennett personally. She then explained [that he is] highly convincing and highly deceptive.”
This latter campaigner included an email address for the lady he quotes, so if anyone wishes to contact her for further information, let me know and I will provide it on request, privately.
This is a most scandalous case and the fact that Robert Green has been jailed when he is only asking for a proper investigation into it, should make any person of average intelligence suspicious.
Wendy Walker emailed this short article for those unfamiliar with the details of the case. Looks like a very good summary of the key events.
Editor,
Having read that short article, it does indeed make a very good summary of the key events.
The lengths that these people, politicians, police, judges and whoever else to hide out of sight the evil things that they do, so that the evil perpetrated on Hollie, her mother and others is an abomination. I wonder if these people believe in God? Probably a dumb question. They certainly have no fear of God.
Yesterday afternoon I emailed the link to this thread to The Scotsman Newspaper – addressed to the Editor and News Reporters. I expressed surprise that the story is not being reported in the media and looked forward to some coverage by them. We’ll see.
I have written to Alex Salmond, Kenny McCaskill, Russel Brown, Alex Ferguson, the legal aid board and I know others have been writing about this for a long time and it is astounding that the media have been so silent.
I’ve submitted a complaint to the BBC under the category “Not enough coverage”
Having come late to this case, I was appalled to read about the Holly Greig case, and willingly signed my name to a petition requesting justice for Mr Green. On further investigation I discovered a website which refutes many of the allegations made. A proper investigation to ascertain the facts is certainly justified and too long delayed. The fact that this has not yet occurred is mystifying. Or perhaps not.
Charles and Therese,
It’s brilliant that you’ve contacted various VIPs/BBC and signed the petition for Robert Green respectively. That’s what I call “Action Stations”!
Dame Elish Frances Angiolini, who has been the Lord Advocate and Solicitor General of Scotland has been involved in the case, allegedly ‘covering it up’.
She is now the Principal of St. Hugh’s College, Oxford.
And of course a Scottish Sheriff was one of the main accused.
Yes, it is absolutely criminal that the case has not been investigated, and that Robert Green has been persecuted.
After fleeing to England to escape harassment, Hollie and her mother’s torment was taken up by the ‘Social Services’ and British police. On one occasion when Hollie and her mother went on a holiday, they found their door had been broken, and a new lock fitted. She gained entry through her solicitor, and it turned out the police and Council had broken in and trashed the house, on a ‘tip’ that Hollie had disappeared. To my knowledge, the house/flat has still not been repaired.
A similar case of police lack of investigation, and persecution of campaigners, is the Hampstead SRA case; see ‘In the Best Interest of the ‘Whistleblower Kids’?’.
Despite very precise descriptions of body birth in intimate areas, tattoos in same, and piercings in same made by the two children, NONE of the alleged abusers were asked by police to submit to a medical examination!
Some of the campaigners are still being dragged through the court system, with no consideration of blatant flaws on the part of Judges, police and others.
