Book Sale! Don’t Miss It!

Book Sale! Don’t Miss It!

One of our young readers is keen to sell some of his books – he’s moving out of his flat and so had the brainwave of holding a “clearance sale” on the Catholic Truth blog.

He’s listed the books for sale below, with a hoped for price, but is willing to listen to offers from anyone who maybe can’t afford the advertised sum.    IotaUnum

I released a comment from a new blogger, username Michael Morton, but it has not appeared on the page. In my admin page, it shows up as if published, but it’s not here. I’ve copied the text to post below – this is another WordPress blip so don’t be surprised if the original comment appears out of the blue. I have notified WordPress, so hopefully any problem will be rectified as soon as possible.

Patricia, Thanks for this, I’ve just sent off an e-mail for them. Michael

      Editor,

Do you know if Michael is buying all the books? (judging the wording in his message?)

I am interested in a few of the titles – will email Kevin to see if they are still available!

        Gabriel Syme,

I doubt if he’ll order everything although I did wonder, as you say, due to the wording – I think it’s worth emailing Kevin to see if your choices are still available. I’m sure they will be.

I would particularly recommend Iota Unum, written by one of the official “experts” at Vatican II. It’s excellent.

And, of course, Michael Davies’ Pope Paul’s New Mass, but I suspect you may already have that one!

Thanks Editor – the two books you mentioned are some of the ones I asked Kevin about – you obviously know me well! The ++Lefebvre Books were the others I was interested in.

        Gabriel Syme,

I do hope you manage to secure them – they are all terrific.

Good news Ed – they were indeed still available and I look forward to collecting them in due course!

        Brilliant, Gabriel Syme. I’m delighted.

Thanks to Michael M, this turned out to be one of the shortest threads on record!

Let’s see what WF brings in due course!

You may remember I emailed you a while back about a similar matter. Ruth Real of the Association of Catholic Women died a while back (may she rest in peace) and her husband Michael, who has since also died, gave me a load of her good Catholic books. I will get around to listing them in the next week or so, and then put the titles up here. I am not selling them, they are free to those who want them, as long as my postage costs can be covered. Watch this space for a list of books!

      WF,

Yes, go ahead and publish your list – I trust you to distinguish between the truly Catholic books and anything less. We don’t want to promote the latter category!

Not that either Ruth nor Michael would knowingly harbour such books but these days, we have to exercise due diligence all the time, sadly. I’ve got books on my own bookshelf that belong in the trash can but they’re there because either someone gave me a copy to expose in the newsletter or, in at least one case, because I bought it for the same purpose, all the while lecturing the Sister who wrapped it for me in the Pauline Bookshop in Glasgow!
