At that time Jesus appeared to the eleven as they were at table: and He upbraided them with their incredulity and hardness of heart, because they did not believe them who had seen Him after He was risen again. And He said to them: Go ye into the whole world and preach the Gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptised shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned… And the Lord Jesus, after He had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God… (Mk 16:14-16;19)

Feast of the Ascension is a Holy-Day of obligation. Traditional Latin Masses available for tomorrow’s Feast, in Glasgow, as follows:
SSPX chapel in Glasgow, 6.30 pm
Immaculate Heart of Mary, Balornock, Glasgow: 12.30 pm and 7 pm
Others, with details of Traditional Latin Masses in other towns and cities, are welcome to post details on this thread.

Happy Feast everyone! I just love these devotional threads. Makes me feel part of the Catholic family. It’s what is missing everywhere else. Even the traditional chapels have no feel of a parish life about them, so thank you for this!

Come to Corpus Christi in Ireland if you want to feel part of a parish! We are fortunate in that we “gel” well together and have been through some tough times with “Resistance” folk. But they’ve gone away now… Hope you all had an enjoyable feast.

On Sunday I couldn’t hear (as usual) the announcement about the Ascension Day Mass, and the SSPX Mass times site had gremlins in it so I went at 11.00 which was the old time for feasts. It was all like flag day in Aberdeen (v old xenophobic remark that we sassenachs used to get away with once upon a time), and so I phoned my sister and found I was an hour and a half early. I’ll definitely have to get an ear trumpet to hear announcements and sermon in our chapel.
I always giggle when the Paschal Candle is extinguished on Ascension Day – naughty, but I can’t seem to help it because it reminds me of a hilarious battle between a traddie altar-server and a PP one Ascension Thursday some years ago. A very dear, orthodox old priest (RIP) used to celebrate the old Mass once a month, and was always willing to let other traditional priests celebrate Mass in his beautiful little church. However, he saw nothing wrong with the NO, which he celebrated strictly, and with no EMs, no ‘sign of peace’ and Holy Communion was distributed to kneeling communicants on the tongue. On this particular day he had said his NO Mass and extinguished the Paschal Candle before the old Mass, so, of course, our altar server lit it again for our Mass. Out comes Father, and blows it out, back comes server and lights it again, and so it went on, while the congregation were reduced to helpless fits of giggles. I can’ remember clearly who won, but I have a feeling we did.

I was told to Google jokes about heaven, then pick one and click on it, and it takes you through to see it on another page with a few other pictures to the right.
