15/8: Feast of Assumption of Our Ladyeditor
As always on Feast Day threads, please feel free to discuss any related issues, and/or post your favourite prayers and hymns, lyrics, audio recordings or videos – remember that to copy a YouTube video directly onto the page, just right click on the video of your choice, select “copy embed code” and then select “paste” to make it appear in your comment although it won’t appear until you submit the comment. And of course, jokes in the “good clean fun” category are always welcome. Here’s one to kick start the celebration…
A young art student at Catholic college, decided she would mark the Feast of the Assumption by producing some sketches of Our Lady, but when she checked her art box, all of her pencils were broken and, as she told a friend, broken pencils are pointless….
Enjoy the Feast!
We were reminded yesterday that this is the only other non Sunday Holy Day of Obligation in Australia we have apart from Christmas Day.
It would not surprise me if the remaining obligatory feast day of The Blessed Virgin Mary falls to the axe too. Terrible.
This year I have done something new in the lead up to The Assumption. I started the Dormition Fast on August 1st. It is an Old Eastern Catholic tradition of fasting two weeks before The Assumption. Surprisingly I was pretty successful. And if I can do it, believe me, anyone can 🙂
Happy feastday to everyone. Maria assumpta est in caelum!
Happy Feast Day everyone. I leave you all with the humn O Sanctissima.
It is a sad reflection of the times that Christmas Day and the Feast of the Assumption are the only non Sunday Days of Obligations, in Australia. If, ever Our Lady’s Feast Day is banished, how soon will the Nativity of her Divine Son’s Feast on Christmas Day follow? Heaven help Australia then.
Hopefully your Domition Fast may play its part in this Feast Day not being axed.
The Assumption of Our Blessed Lady always makes me think about the place from where Our Lady was assumed into Heaven, and I believe it was from her home on Nightingale Mountain in Ephesus. This place perfectly matches the description given in the visions to Blessed Anne Katherine Emmerich, who said that Our Lady had lived out her days there before being assumed into Heaven. There is an excellent book on the finding of Mary’s House and the nun that was instrumental in its finding:- “The Life of Sr. Marie de Mandat-Grancey & Mary’s House in Ephesus” by Rev Carl Shulte CM. It is available from Amazon and it is a fascinating read. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Marie-Mandat-Grancey-Marys-House-Ephesus/dp/089555870X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1471252048&sr=8-2&keywords=marys+house+ephesus
A blessed feast day to you all!
Happy Feast everyone!
Happy Feast day to everyone. I hope we can all manage an extra 5 decades every day from now till next August as a contribution to the SSPX’s Rosary Crusade, 2017 being the centenary year of the Fatima apparitions and great miracle of the sun. I have a feeling next year might see the dawn of the restoration. I hope so.
I certainly hope you are right about the dawn of the restoration Athanasius, there’s a thought to warm the heart!
Incidentally – the SSPX instruction sheet for the Crusade says that existing daily rosaries may be included in the totals submitted by the faithful (just saying so people know to include these to boost the number).
Praise be to God for our Blessed Mother, his Crown of Creation, on this Feast of Her Assumption
She shall crush your head. An astonishing read!
Guadalupe Image Contains An Amazing Hidden Prophetic Code Written In Islamic Icons
That Will Turn Aside Islam Just As It Turned Aside the Paganism of the Aztecs
Example: Mary is standing on a black crescent moon which represents both Allah and Mohammad.
In Muslim countries a Minaret must always stand higher than a cross on a church steeple.
Mary has won for she stands on the crescent moon

The crescent curse is upon us but God has already announced the victory in one fascinating image. Our research provided here is not only the first of its kind in history, but it also reveals hidden codes, not just in regards to the Aztecs of Mexico but hidden messages that Muslims will comprehend, and that will further reveal Mary’s role in the destruction of Islam. These messages that were never discovered until now in this fascinating presentation.

John Vennari has posted this short video of Pius XII proclaiming the dogma of the Assumption:
Happy Feast Day, everyone!
Please see this important post regarding the Damsel of the Faith. As I say in the post, I will be taking care of the blog in her absence. Please keep her in your prayers.
thank you for keeping us informed about Damsel of the Faith. I have posted my sympathies for her in this trial on your blog, with assurances of our prayers at this time.
This is our post for the Assumption. If the Editor doesn’t mind, I will periodically post our articles onto the discussion boards, just as the Damsel has done.
By all means, please feel free to post links to the article on the Damsel of the Faith blog – they are always wonderful and I am very happy for you to alert us to new posts. I’ve just posted a brief comment on the lovely reflection for today’s Feast.
To all of you, holy and joyous feast of the Assumption, may the Queen of heaven and Britain and France resume the place She deserves and radiate in our dear countries! LD
A happy Assumption day to everyone at Catholic Truth.
Here’s my favourite prayer to Our Lady, after the Hail Mary:
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help or sought thy intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence,
I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother;
to thee do I come, before thee I kneel, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy clemency hear and answer me.
Many thanks to all who contributed to this devotional thread. All the beautiful hymns and prayers much appreciated. No jokes though – what you lot like?
So here’s one to mark the end of the Feast…
Q – What do they eat in Heaven to mark the major Feast days?
A – Angel cake!
Over and out!
