From the  Editor…

As well as being the usual facility to exchange Easter greetings, we might use this thread to discuss what on earth Pope Francis makes of Easter, since, apparently, according to recent reports, he thinks unrepentant souls just “disappear” – they don’t end up in Hell. What on EARTH is he celebrating this weekend, if there is no Hell?  Why Good Friday?  Why the need for the Saviour? What IS Christian salvation if not salvation from the eternal punishment of Hell?  Read the following report, taken from the Rorate Caeli website which will leave you wishing, as it leaves me wishing that Papa Francis would “disappear” – like, yesterday!

From Rorate Caeli…

“THERE IS NO HELL” — new Francis revelation to atheist journalist just in time for Good Friday

In another informal interview with Italian atheist journalist (and founder of liberal newspaper Repubblica) Eugenio Scalfari, published today, Pope Francis reveals that “hell does not exist”.

His exact words below (full interview behind paywall here, most important excerpt below):

Title of the interview: “It is an honor for me to be called revolutionary.”

Excerpt on hell:

[Scalfari:] Your Holiness, in our previous meeting you told me that our species will disappear in a certain moment and that God, still out of his creative force, will create new species. You have never spoken to me about the souls who died in sin and will go to hell to suffer it for eternity. You have however spoken to me of good souls, admitted to the contemplation of God. But what about bad souls? Where are they punished?

[Francis:] “They are not punished, those who repent obtain the forgiveness of God and enter the rank of souls who contemplate him, but those who do not repent and cannot therefore be forgiven disappear. There is no hell, there is the disappearance of sinful souls.”  Source – Rorate Caeli

Comment:

Was Pope Francis misquoted?   Before you answer that, read this Catholic World Report  including the following comment underneath: I can’t believe people have not caught on yet. It is likely that Pope Francis told Scalfari that there was no hell. The fact that he said at other places and times that their IS a hell does not matter. What the Pope says changes from time to time. If Scalfari found it a stumbling block to believe in hell, then the Pope would have no trouble telling him there is no hell. The Pope was “accompanying” Scalfari, trying to move him closer to the church. If this involved the POPE denying or altering doctrine, then so be it. When Scalfari is ready to accept the idea of hell, the Pope will re-introduce it. It will appear again. What we just saw was the Pope’s idea of how to lead someone into the church. You deny or alter doctrine, if necessary. Then, when the person has accepted the fundamentals, you move the goalposts again, hell re-appears, and Voila! Now, the critical thing is that the POPE is endorsing this approach. Truth is situationally relative for the Pope, and he will say whatever he needs to say to get to his goal. He is flexible. Doctrine does not matter. So Germans want to give communion to divorced and remarried and bless gay marriage. Who cares? Not the Pope. So maybe Jesus did not rise from the dead. Who cares? Not the Pope.”

Well… Was Pope Francis misquoted?

        CHRISTUS SURREXIT!
        CHRISTOS VOSKRESE!
        CHRISTOS ANESTI!
        AL-MASEEH HAQQAM!

        Dear Madame Editor,

The Mystical Body of Christ is undergoing its own Passion but will rise again just as Christ did today.

        O day of Resurrection!
Let us beam with festive joy!
O Pasch, O Pasch of the Lord,
For from death to life, from earth to Heaven,
Christ our God has led us
Who sing the hymn of victory!

St. John Damascene, Resurrection Matins, Ode 1

Traditionally, the Gospel is read in various languages to show that the Gospel must be preached to all men. The Gospel? John 1: 1-17 – In principio erat Verbum…

The reasons why this is the Gospel for Pascha is 1) it emphasizes the Divinity of Christ and 2) v. 17 – “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”

For 40 days, we sing and greet each other with “Christ is Risen!” (in English, Latin, Slavonic, Greek & Arabic above).

A blessed Pascha/Easter to you and the entire CT family.

        Yours in the Risen Christ,

If what has been said is true and so far the Pope has NOT jumped in front of the media (as he loves to do) and made an out and out denial, see some of the links here:-

    https://remnantnewspaper.com/web/index.php/fetzen-fliegen/item/3820-pope-bergoglio-spouts-the-annihilationist-heresy-again

Having read and re read this stuff which is now circulating around the world, then this is surely the end game and Cardinal Burke et al now HAVE to get the finger out !

Had they got moving with the Dubia this latest monstrous exhortation would not have happened.

Wonder if Cardinal Burke, Bishop Schneider and Bishop Fellay will even comment on this ?

As far as I am concerned the game’s a bogey.

      St Miguel,

It would be worthwhile taking a few minutes to read the blog introduction. I’ve used the Rorate Caeli piece plus a very interesting report from Catholic World Report, including a very insightful comment from one of the bloggers there.

I don’t know what you think Cardinal Burke can or might do, for, as you indicate, the dubia turned out to be a damp squib… And believe me, the game has been “a bogey” for a lot longer than dear old Papa Francis has been granting interviews to Scalfari. As Bishop Fellay said very early on in the pontificate of Francis – “we have before us, an outright modernist”. There’s not really a lot to add to that.

In fact, St Miguel, you are to be counted among the very few Catholics who care. Most don’t – and I include self-styled “traditionalists” in that observation. So, don’t be like those faint hearts who give up because they don’t see the “results” they would like to see – a disappearing Francis, for starters.

We keep ourselves informed, we record our rejection of error and heresy wherever possible, blogs, conversations with the ignorant, and whatever other means is at our disposal; we refuse to be merely “Sunday” (or nominal) Catholics, and we do all of this in the sure and certain knowledge that the victory is already won, that simply by doing our duty as Confirmed Soldiers of Christ we will be shown to have contributed to that “victory” when the “Big Picture” is revealed at the end of time.

Stand now to sing 25 verses of Faith of our Fathers!

Happy Easter , St Miguel – Alleluia!

Further, if this is all true, then the Pope cannot take seriously the Fatima Seer’s Vision of Hell, ergo why should he take the Consecration of Russia seriously.

      St Miguel,

I think the man who commented on the CWR blog, given at the end of the blog article, is absolutely correct. Pope Francis will say whatever fits in with the needs of his hearers. So, if he’s preaching at Fatima, he’ll be all for the Fatima Message, Hell and all, but with an atheist, he can make the message fit with his world view. It’s ridiculous, and he must be a very weak character to behave like that, no convictions himself, so fine with doctoring the dogmas of our faith to suit the convictions of others.

      Happy Easter everyone!

To answer Editor’s lead question, I think Pope Francis is celebrating being the Judas Iscariot of the Passion of the Church – i.e. he is celebrating himself and his self-styled revolutionary mission to “make a mess” in the Church. I also think he is a congenital liar, a cunning sneak, and a corrupt stooge for the Lavender Mafia. To those who think “he is his own man,” I disagree strongly.

Having said that, I accept the Divine punishment of this pontificate…though I look forward to order being restored in the Church. In fact, I thirst for it.

      RCA Victor,

“I accept the Divine punishment of this pontificate.”

Me, too. I think this pope is the price we are paying for not challenging the previous modernist popes, from John XXIII onward. I’ve been reading about the Pope who died after 33 days, John Paul I, and he also was a modernist. Is it ever going to end?

      • St Miguel

From the days of David Yallop’s book ‘In God’s Name’ of the eighties exposing the financial corruption within the Vatican, Albino Luciani, Pope John Paul I, was uncomfortable, to put it mildly, with Humanae Vitae and could see ‘no problem with the pill’, which we now know can have abortifacient properties. However such was the financial scandals within the IOR bank and Archbishop Marcinkus and his buddies, that he was much too busy sorting out that mess at the time, before he died on the 33rd day of his pontificate.
Yallop theorised that JP 1 was murdered. Whether he was or not, Cardinal Villot and his pals played the media like a violin, with ambiguity, no autopsy, contradictions and lies (sound familiar?) All this before news 24, internet and desk top publishing.

Wonder why he is forgotten about, no miracles, beatification, rush to sainthood?

Victor I strongly disagree with you and believe that Francis is his own Man . That he surrounds himself with Yes men who agree with practically every statement he makes confirms this . As an analogy I worked in Engineering for many years and some of the Bosses I worked with would surround themselves with the exact same thinkers as themselves. If you thought that what ever machines Etc were being wrongly maintained and protested to the Boss he’d bring out his Cabal who would Always agree with him . Thus this made him on that particular site untouchable. To me Francis is exactly the same . No one gets to disagree with him and stay in a Powerful Position within the Church . This of course only feeds his Ego more and more . There are no dissenting clergy close to Francis. That he comes out with statements of no Hell and none of his Lackeys makes a fuss is just another example.

      April 1, 2018 at 8:51 pm
      • RCAVictor

        FOOF,

Yes, he certainly does surround himself with yes-men, but they are all below him on the ladder of power, and they are merely there to enforce the agenda that he wants enforced. And what is that agenda? The agenda of the St. Gallen Mafia, the corrupt group that got him elected. He is beholden to them (including to the enormous wealth of the German episcopate) and their agenda. You are looking at the pecking order from the wrong end. This Pope is their stooge. The fact that he is a dictator has nothing to do with it. That is merely the chosen methodology to implement the agenda. Take a look behind the throne (or, in this case, the Chair) and figure out who is pulling the strings.

I also remind you of the “Council of 9 Cardinals”: take a look at those clergy, esp. the level of their apostasy and corruption (except for the token Catholic Cardinal Pell), and ask yourself why a Pope needs a Council of such men to “advise” him. Advise, my foot.

To which I should have added before, the agenda Francis is implementing is also the leftist agenda of the UN, the satanic body which is the primary visible tip of world government, the source of “open borders,” “LGBT” insanity, environmental wacko-ism (aka earth worship), unlimited abortion, gun control, the destruction of the family, the destruction of national identities, and above all, the destruction (via transformation) of the Catholic Church.

Victor I agree with you 100 % but I still think he’s his own man as in regards the statements he has made also point to it . The infamous Who am I to Judge on Homosexuality was not just off of the Top of his head so to speak . The meeting of the 2 Homosexual Husbands these to me were set up by Francis. His going to Lund to venerate Luther again all of his own doing . As for his Gang of Cardinals Francis would drop them in the you no what quicker than you could say The Our Father ( even with his altered words ) . As for the Agenda of the UN Etc and Global Warming and saving Penguins I believe Francis is even more to the Fore in this than the UN . Also as far as Homosexuality is concerned the fact that Jimmy Martin is one of his top Communications Men says enough on that front. O and remember Communication Sunday is 28th of May . Jimmy Martin has enough money with his Garbage Books especially his new Bridge Over Troubled Waters one .

This paragraph is of particular interest:

“In an interview with the Independent after the Conclave, Murphy O’Connor also hinted there was a particular programme laid before the 76 year-old Argentinian, that he was expected to accomplish in about four years. The English cardinal told journalist and author Paul Vallely, “Four years of Bergoglio would be enough to change things.” A fair enough comment after the fact, but this was the same phrase recorded by Andrea Tornielli in La Stampa in an article dated March 2, 2013, eleven days before Bergoglio’s election: “Four years of Bergoglio would be enough to change things,’ whispers a cardinal and long-time friend of the archbishop of Buenos Aires.”

A very Happy Easter to everyone.

The ‘Francis & Scalfari show’ is well past its sell-by date. The best comedy duos usually know when to “call it quits”, so they don’t end up flogging a dead horse.

Rather than Morecambe & Wise, perhaps Beavis & Butthead is a better analogy for the Francis-Scalfari double-act given Francis, at least, seems to regard himself as some delinquent revolutionary.

The only thing more embarrassing than his by-now tedious efforts to “push the envelope” is the kind of response which still gives him the benefit of the doubt in these situations.

      Lionel,

I think the answer is to be found in the insightful blogger’s comment on the Catholic World Report article on the subject, which I quoted above in the introduction. He writes:

“I can’t believe people have not caught on yet. It is likely that Pope Francis told Scalfari that there was no hell. The fact that he said at other places and times that their IS a hell does not matter. What the Pope says changes from time to time.

I think that is the only credible answer to the question of whether the Pope said what is reported or not. Knowing what we know about him, it’s more likely than not that he imagines (foolishly) that telling an atheist what he wants to believe about Hell, will “convert” him. Brainless, of course, but then that – as our American cousins say – figures 😀

        Editor,
Here is my opinion: this is really worrying!
I think that the press service of the Vatican is embarrassed by all these foolishnesses and that the press service of the Vatican denies them very clumsily…

      • RCAVictor

        Editor,

I agree with that blogger’s thumbnail analysis, except for one important thing: I do not for a New York minute believe that Francis’ goal is to move Scalfari – or anyone else, for that matter – “closer to the Church.” In fact, I’d say the exact opposite is far more likely: his goal is to move the Church closer to Scalfari, and as far away from the Catholic Faith as possible – as far way as he can get away with.

Just for a little comic relief, I noticed this in the Scalfari quote: “Your Holiness, in our previous meeting you told me that our species will disappear in a certain moment and that God, still out of his creative force, will create new species.”

In response to which, I confidently predict the next wave of transgenderism: trans-species-ism! But that’s a horse of a different color…

I think Pope Francis may have a different opinion on the existence of Hell after his visit to Ireland, especially if he meets Hairy McAleese or Leo Verruca.

Personally, I think he was only having an April Fool’s joke targeted at his exorcists.

Can you imagine he turns up in Ireland in August and the Referendum was in favour of abortion? What would he say? Because he ain’t saying a thing about just now.

Another thought…could ALL this stuff he throws out be due to his Jesuit mindset.

In fact are the Jesuits really running the store..could that be the answer?

Perhaps Pope Francis needs to read the Treatise of Saint Leonard of Port Maurice about the little number of those who are saved.

O,r Saint Anthony Claret about the pains of hell.

We have a duty to pray for priests no matter their rank, from simple parish priests to the Pope, for they carry a heavy responsibility in the care of souls. For the devil and his minions attack them vociferously
to sweep their flock down to hell. No wonder the children of Fatima prayed and offered sacrifices on their behalf following Our Lady of Fatima showed them hell.

What seriously disturbs me is the very idea that the SSPX think that they can ever turn this around.

I believe it is too far gone, it is like trying to get the QE2 to attempt a handbrake turn at 33 knots.

Rome cannot be trusted EVER again.

The next Pope is being groomed, there is no turning back, there is NO way that the Nouveau Rome will EVER tolerate Traditionalists.

        St Miguel,

You keep saying this about the SSPX – what do you think they should do? Should they start a new Church, just like Luther and John Knox did? Too many of their priests and laity are already in a schismatic mindset, so that would be right up their street.

Haven’t seen you on the thread about the Catholic Truth video. Do comment over there, as we all need to support CT as much as possible. The video’s brilliant, if you haven’t seen it.
