Join Us For Public Angelus & Rosary
In honour of Our Lady, Mother of Christ
In reparation for the calling of an abortion referendum in once-Catholic Ireland, and to implore great graces for the Irish people
as they go to vote in the polls…
The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary,
and she conceived by the Holy Ghost…
Join Us To Pray
Outside The Consulate General of Ireland
16 Randolph Crescent Edinburgh, EH3 7TT
on Saturday, 12th May, 2018, at 12 noon,
eve of the first Fatima apparition on 13th May, 1917.
Holy Michael, Archangel, defend us in the day of battle;
be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
And do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
Cast down into Hell,
Satan, and all wicked spirits,
who wander through the world, for the ruin of souls.
Amen.

There are already families and individuals booked to come along,
so please make every effort to join us.
Our Lady, Mother of Christ, pray for us!

The referendum date has been announced. The referendum will be held on Friday, 25th May.
Any bus (except the 29) going along Princes Street will go hear the Consulate.
I can post a more detailed list of buses/directions if required. Just say the word!
Note: the Rosary will be led by a group of young people and children – which, no doubt, will bring special graces from Heaven. Not least since the children, from two families, are all of Irish descent!

Dear Madame Editor,
May 25th is the actual birthday of St. Padre Pio and on the Byzantine calendar it is the Feast of the Third Finding of the Head of St. John the Baptist. Maybe you could invoke their intercession as well as St. Michael.
I’d be there in person if I lived on your side of the pond.
Kudos to you and everyone supporting this endeavor.
In the Risen Christ,
Margaret 🇺🇸
Thank you Margaret – would be great if you could join us, but it’s a bit of a journey, can’t be denied!
You’re welcome. Btw, St. Padre Pio went to his eternal reward on Sept. 23 – the Feast of the *Conception* of St. John the Baptist. Providence!
That’s beautiful! A child-led rosary against abortion! That’s absolutely beautiful and it will bring many graces, that is assured.
Someone once said that God gives certain graces only when children pray for them – if adults pray for them, He might want them to persevere in prayer for these particular graces. (Sorry, the gray matter isn’t in top form today.)
May your spiritual combat bear much fruit!
Meanwhile, I came across this today:

Victor,
I must admit I do not like that website one bit. First of all I would avoid anything that has “Roman Catholic” in the title. Second of all, the image of St Michael the Archangel is disturbing. Lastly, it quotes from “Divine Mercy” which I just cannot go. Sorry, but that’s a site to be avoided.
Raymundo,
You’re right, I forgot “Roman Catholic” was one of Editor’s bugaboos, and I didn’t notice the Divine Chaplet page (I agree with you, that is a fraud). But what disturbs you about the St. Michael image?
I think it’s immodest, I’ve never seen St Michael depicted half naked.
Have a dekko at this folks…look at the visits and venues…usual stuff about the poor and on top of that he will be hob nobbing with the political elite.
Not a mention of anything pro-life.
Final insult is the COST 20 MILLION EUROS…
However the pew dwellers will be expected to cough up 5 million Euros towards the cost.
Why NOT save all the cost and hassle, be humble and don’t bother coming at all.
This is showbiz folks…Cecil B. de Mille epic stuff, photo ops that’s all.
Here is the link I forgot to attach.

Pat, just saw this. Putting it in my diary. I will be there. See you tomorrow. God bless.

Carole,
That’s great. The more, the merrier.
It’s snowing here, can you believe, but should be OK for tomorrow.
Snow in Scotland?
Very funny, Margaret. Here’s a joke I didn’t used to “get” – I do now…

Thanks – I needed a good laugh today!
Margaret,
I hope you’ve not been having a hard time – if so, my sympathy. And, hoping your problem is nothing worse than a bad hair day, here’s another joke for fun…

My hair always goes flat no matter what the weather (I NEVER use hair spray – it’s toxic!)
On the bright side, my Aunt Margaret turned 95 yesterday. She’s Mom’s oldest living sister (Mom is the 7th of 9 children).
I am named for her and and my godmother (who is # 4 out of the 9).
Editor,
It will be very moving having children leading the Rosary, especially children of Irish descent.
Petrus,
I agree – that is a wonderful idea to have children leading the Rosary. Being of Irish descent is the icing on the cake!
It will be very touching indeed for children to lead such a rosary. It is bound to win much grace. Bravo!
May the fire of St. Patrick never be extinguished….
RCA Victor,
I’m hoping that the school of thought which foresees a defeat for the pro-abortionists wins the day. That would at least keep the embers of St Patrick’s fire glowing until the day dawns when the Faith will be fully restored in Ireland as elsewhere. Roll on!
We shall all pray at this intention.
Thank you Editor for reminding us!
My pleasure, Lionel! I only wish you could join us – there is a French lady coming along, so you could both discuss Brexit – or Frexit? – over coffee afterwards!
Editor,
I intend to join you by reciting the Rosary.
Unfortunately, for the moment, I am not able of going away from Paris.
Thank you infinitely for your kind invitation.
PS: I have to return at the hospital on April 11th…
11th April, Lionel, is the Feast of St Leo the Great, so you will be in good spiritual hands as well as top medics, no doubt. We will remember you in our prayers on that day.
…and it is also my feast-day and my birthday.
It is an old cancer that I have been dragging since 2005…
Thank you Editor!
Lionel,
Be assured of a remembrance in my prayers on that day, although, by the looks of it, you have a head-start in the success ratings!
Thank you very much Editor!
Yes, I shall have a thorough examination to see if there are any metastases?…
Below, a list of Irish parliamentarians (TDs) who voted against the referendum. I am hoping to find time, in next couple of days, to ring round to thank them and I hope others will do so as well.

I am glad that there are many of them, congratulation!
What a good idea this event is and I will pray that it is a major success.
As we know, the SSPX has a Church in Edinburgh, and there is also an FSSP congregation. (The latter is actually based very close to the Consulate General).
Why not ask the priests at each of those locations to announce this event to their congregations on the weekend before it takes place?
I am sure many of the people will already look at this website and/or get the newsletter, but an announcement might still be worthwhile to net a few extra bodies.
Gabriel Syme,
That’s a good idea. On the “to do” list!
Better still, how about some priests from FSSP and SSPX ALSO turning out WITH PARISHIONERS and shaming the diocesan ones who will have more pressing business to deal with!
St Miguel,
The SSPX Prior is keen to join us and plans to do his best to be there. He was disappointed to miss the public rosary outside the Cambuslang church and at that time told me always to let him know personally when we are having such events and if he can possibly attend, he will.
Like the rest of us, he’ll have his imperfections but nobody could accuse him of lacking zeal. Deo gratias!
As for getting parishioners to accompany him, though – that’s a tad less certain. In fact, an awful lot of them seem to have this for their motto….

Happily, we have a healthy number planning to make the journey to Edinburgh on the day, and there’s still a way to go, so those coffee shops, which I’m reliably informed are plentiful near the Irish Consulate, better prepare for big business…

See you there!
A small group of us is going over to Dublin for a couple of days before the referendum, to leaflet and speak to the people – we will target young people, because those are the most likely to vote to legalise abortion, according to this report
http://www.lifenews.com/2018/04/20/poll-shows-ireland-is-dangerously-close-to-legalizing-abortion-on-demand/
Please pray for us – this is a crucially important vote and it would be heart-breaking if such a wholly once-Catholic nation voted the evil of murdering the unborn child, into law. Between our public Angelus and Rosary, and now our trip to leaflet in the run-up to the referendum, we hope to win lots of graces for the people of Ireland.
N O T I C E . . .
For those of you who received an email from me today, attaching the draft of the leaflet we are having printed to take with us to Ireland (see above reference to our trip) please note that we have added a short and snappy slogan in the circle at the top, stolen from a comment by a blogger on the LBC radio site. The slogan reads: Give the unborn a whole lifetime of choices!
I’ve ‘fessed up on the LBC blog, so that the gentleman who made the original comment knows about the theft and is hopefully pleased enough not to sue me for copyright!
Thanks to those who replied with their thoughts – Leaflet now at the printers.
As well as leafleting and encouraging a “no to abortion” vote, we will be taking the opportunity to educate Irish Catholics, especially the young about the nature of the Church which is both human and divine. The priest scandals, currently used by the media as a stick with which to beat the Church and brainwash the people, is evidence ONLY of the human sinfulness of the members, NOT evidence that the Church is not from God. We need to try to get that message clearly across as well, so please pray for our trip, that it may bear much fruit. You’ll recognise the need for much prayer and penance once you’ve read the following report.
https://www.economist.com/news/europe/21739197-ireland-prepares-vote-debate-notably-secular-catholics-are-keeping-low-profile
As I’m sure bloggers will be only too aware, there are many out there who would have us believe that ‘feminism’ is all about so-called ‘reproductive rights’ – a euphemism for the ‘woman’s right-to-choose’, ‘sleeping around’, contraception, sterilisation, abortion etc.
How refreshing the beauty and truth of Dame Alice Von Hildebrand’s words on what true feminism and femininity are about, in this interview.

Update on the referendum campaign in Ireland – seems the bishops are keeping quiet, having made their support for keeping the 8th amendment clear (presumably in one diplomatically worded statement), and prefer to leave it to the laity to do the campaigning.
https://www.spectator.co.uk/2018/05/the-catholic-church-is-absent-in-irelands-abortion-referendum/
Their patron – Pontius Pilate – would be proud of them.
This report shows the determination of the pro-abortion people, because this actor is saying to support it even if you don’t know all about it.
http://www.lifenews.com/2018/05/07/actor-liam-neeson-pushes-ireland-to-legalize-abortion-we-must-stand-for-whats-right/
It’s really evil. He makes it all about women’s rights, assuming all women are pro-abortion and never mentions children except ironically, as the report says, to boast about being a Unicef Goodwill Ambassador for children’s rights!
I think we need to pray very hard for Ireland because it looks like the pro-abortionists could win this.
Fidelis,
That’s a very interesting – and shocking report.
So is this one on who’s funding the Irish referendum. It’s a Catholic Herald report from 2017 but worth reminding ourselves of the evil forces at work in this diabolical drive to kill unborn children even in a once-great Catholic nation.
http://catholicherald.co.uk/issues/september-29th-2017/whos-funding-irelands-abortion-lobby/
I hope everyone who can manage, will come along to our Public Angelus and Rosary next Saturday.
Editor,
I meant that I was on the wrong topic and rectified…
However, you are right when you say that I was a tiny bit sarcasric!…
Just a short reminder that, if you are unable to join us tomorrow for our public Angelus and Rosary in Edinburgh, you offer a prayer for the group – not everyone finds public prayer easy, so ask all of our Guardian Angels to be with us, to keep us calm if we face confrontation (not expecting it, but as that guy said, what’s his name, O yes, Justin Case, it’s always good to have spiritual back-up if at all possible!)
Will publish a very short report on our return, before closing this thread and removing it from the top of the page.
At 12 noon, on this lovely sunny day in the month of Mary, a group of 24 respondents to the above advertisment gathered outside the General Consulate of Ireland, at 16 Randolph Crescent in Edinburgh to pray the Angelus, the fifteen decades of the Rosary, and the exorcism prayer to St Michael the Archangel for the intention of winning grace for the Irish population due to vote in the abortion referendum on the 25th May. Since the Consulate – with the Irish harp above the door – represents Ireland in our country, one of the young boys administered a good dose of holy water to the front door, as we read the St Michael Prayer.
The group included 9 young people, several of whom led decades of the Rosary. The two small girls (4/5 years) also led a decade as did a number of the adults. We delivered a couple of the leaflets, through the postbox, that we will be distributing on the streets of Dublin when we go over a couple of days prior to the referendum and I have just emailed the Consulate to notify them of our presence today outside their offices… just in case they wonder why the door is so wet!
So, thank you to all who attended – A céad míle buíochas! (I hope that’s the correct translation of the Irish for “a hundred, thousand, thanks!)
This would be a good time to press for nationwide (if not world-wide) all-night prayer vigils before the Blessed Sacrament, ideally on Thu 24th/Fri 25th May, in as many churches as possible.
Any ideas how best to roll this out?
I suppose the only way would be for everyone to ask their own PP, or write to their bishop.
Thank you to all who contributed to this thread, which is now closed.
We will open a thread on our return from Ireland to discuss the result of the referendum, and our own experience of the campaigns in Dublin, where we will be spending a couple of days distributing our leaflet and hoping to persuade those whom we meet to vote pro-life. Please pray for that our efforts bear fruit.
