Thinking Through Catholic Truth…
The above is the self-explanatory introduction to our new series, “Thinking Through Catholic Truth – The Big Questions… Answered”.
Topics already in the pipeline include Scripture, Spirituality, Catholic education and the “Institutional Church”.
If you have a topic you’d like covered tell us in the comments, or if you would like to participate in any of our videos, let us know, either by commenting below or emailing the editor on editor@catholictruthscotland.com

This is a great idea. Short videos to educate us brilliant.
I’d like to suggest one which sets out the reasons why doctors and nurses and pharmacists should not co-operate in immoral procedures. Abortion is the obvious one, but I can’t help wondering how many Catholic doctors and nurses were involved in the Alfie Evans case, and others like it (Charlie Gard etc).
I think it would be helpful to understand the position of Catholic medics in these sorts of situations.
Fidelis,
Thank you for your suggestion which IS a topic already on our list – we have a nurse in our midst so she is having her arm twisted to “go to Hollywood” – watch this space!
Fidelis,
Further to my previous comment, our in-house nurse has agreed to deliver a short talk on the subject you suggest. Won’t be long, hopefully, if all goes according to plan. Well, Plan A, at least 😀
That’s a fantastic video – what a hoot to have Jim Carrey in there and Justin Trudeau! Video Master knows his stuff! Loved it!
Lily,
Yes, Video-Master is the brains behind the graphics – I’d never heard of Jim Carrey and I didn’t know that the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, has a reputation – and a world record – for avoiding answering questions! So, I definitely can’t take the credit for the liveliness of the videos – just the boring voice in between!
His creativity makes all the difference and I think we’ll all enjoy the forthcoming videos, short talks delivered by a variety of speakers. Watch this space!
I agree, great idea, fantastic video – what about a video on how to tell true popes from false popes, true teaching from false teaching?
OK, Nicky, we’ll add that to the list! Thank you.
Great job, Editor!
Technical/artistic suggestion: either have the camera focus lower (i.e. get more of you into the picture), and/or put a crucifix on the wall behind you. Or, sit at a small table like Father Gruner used to, with a crucifix beside you.
RCA Victor,
I’m flattered to BITS that you want to get more of me into the picture – I think we can safely say that you are unique in that aspiration! For the record, I am already seated at a table. However, other speakers will be given the choice – they may either sit at the table, lounge on a sofa, or stand, as they prefer.
We can’t put anything on the wall behind me for a number of reasons that I won’t detail here, and we did discuss putting a small statue or crucifix on the table but decided against it for a couple of reasons, not least because our camera etc is not the best – we work on a shoestring budget and so we are making do and mending, as the saying goes. For now, there is a limit to what we can include in the shots, so I hope that you will understand why, to date, we have failed the Catholicity test in terms of the use of religious objects in plain sight 😀
Having said all of that, video-master reads this thread and will take note of all suggestions and totally ignore my responses, so, do not lose hope. Do not jump off the nearest bridge thinking all is lost, that is not the case. Hang on in there, because our policy is to be able, always, to end every response to a suggestion with the words…
Catholic Truth, at your service! 😀
Editor,
Consider me hanging….

RCA Victor,
You angling for an audition for one of our videos? 😀
If only you were here, we would have you rocketing to stardom in no time!

The video has only be up there since Saturday and already got 95 views! Bravo!
Excellent, congratulation!
Great idea. I’m already enjoying and learning from this new series of videos. Brilliant!
Superb, Editor. Well done lassie!
Therese
How very kind! I know it’s not really “superb” but, still, a deal’s a deal…
