Bravo, Ellen Ward! That’s a lovely video. Well said about our lovely Catholic devotions! We don’t hear enough about them – as you say, Buddhas in Catholic homes and gardens these days, quite shocking, really. One of my neighbours, a Catholic, placed one in her garden a while back and I couldn’t believe it. There’s no sign of any Catholic object in her home at all. It just makes you think.

I just need to explain – to avoid “video-watching” – that we have published two videos in a row, simply because we are launching the series. We won’t be publishing new videos in the series on such a regular basis but as often as we can manage.
Again, if you have a topic you’d like covered, let us know on one of the video threads.
Editor: I don’t care much for videos that do not essentially require visual illustration. I can read the content of a spoken video in 20 seconds or so. The video may be several minutes long.
If one is going to review Catholic devotions we need to start with kneeling. We stand for Communion instead of kneeling in His presence.
However, when we consider devotional services such as Benediction we really need to look at the availability of priests, and that takes us to a core issue; vocations.

You might want to consider the target audience of these videos, rather than your own personal preferences.
These videos, as far as I am aware, target those who are victims of the “French Revolution of the Church,” i.e. apostatized, poorly catechized or not catechized at all, esp. including youth who are encouraged to attend such pseudo-New Age monstrosities as “World Youth Day,” where they are told it’s OK to bat around a beach ball for a few hours, dress like slobs, listen to some useless priest or prelate (or a useless Pope) blather on about the environment, ecumenism, open borders and “Jesus fever,” line up to receive Communion in the hand like some movie ticket, and go home convinced that they’ve had a wonderful spiritual experience.
As for the core issue being vocations, if you want to go that route, I submit that the core issue is Vatican II, the very event which caused the disappearance of vocations…as well as the disappearance of the Faith (which is precisely what it was designed to do).
Or, what the heck, why not go all the way back to the Fall of Adam and Eve?

I think your comment is very rude. A lot of time and effort has clearly gone in and a lot of people have been involved. I believe they are produced by a young man who is very zealous about his Catholic Faith. The team are to be applauded.
I’d concentrate on educating myself and ensuring I was faithful to my Confirmation duty if I were you!

Anyone who is trained in teaching knows not just by theory but by experience, that visual input hugely helps comprehension. If you don’t require such reinforcement of the texts, then that’s fine, but most people benefit from visual reinforcement.
You are wrong to say that “we stand for Communion instead of kneeling….”
YOU might do that, the makers of our videos and, I guess, the majority of our regular readers, do not.
In line with the best educational advice, we decided to keep the videos short, almost maximum of 5 minutes, certainly less than 6 minutes, in order to restrict content to essentials. Obviously not ALL essentials will be in every video, but, in this video we decided that our major purpose must be to counter the evil influences of transcendental meditation, yoga etc. promoted by the Vatican. See thread on sidebar, “Evil in the Vatican: Disorientation… etc” No doubt, in future videos, we will, indeed, comment on the fact that standing for Holy Communion and receiving in the hand, is an entirely Protestant novelty introduced, illicitly, by disobedient, dissenting bishops and priests, and ultimately permitted by weak popes, unable to enforce their own laws.
In any event, there’s no point in bleating about the liturgical abuses encountered in modern parishes, such as Communion in the hand, standing, lack of reverence, no benediction etc, if you persist in supporting the new Mass, where these scandalous abuses occur routinely. For, there is no point in recruiting more priests to perpetuate the new Mass and compound the confusion around. We need – as we regularly pray in our chapel – holy (authentically traditional) priests: “Lord send us priests, Lord send us holy priests, Lord send us many holy priestly vocations.”
I may be mistaken, but I have no recollection of you showing any enthusiasm for the ancient Mass on any of threads on the topic over the years.
Prove me wrong: Mass in St Andrew’s SSPX chapel, Renfrew Street, Sundays, 10.30.a.m. – see you there…
I wonder why you object to visual illustration? You don’t say, and yet I find the pictures and words on screen help me to “get the message” right away, more than just listening to a talk.

It is good to talk about “False Religions” and Pagan rituals as many Catholics do not know about opening themselves up to Demons by the practice of Yoga, Reika, Indian Head Massage, Acupuncture and also about bringing objects into their home ie “Faceless Angels”, Buddha statues which are quite popular.
“Faceless Angels” was mentioned in a book (The Miracle Ship) by a reputable “Catholic” Faith Healer called John Gillespie, who was contacted by various people experiencing demonic activity in their houses after purchasing one of these “Angels”. He also said that before the “Angels” leave the warehouse, demonic prayers are said over them. (ps I am not promoting him!)
“Catholics” are NOT going to find this information out in the Media or their local Church and need to be educated in the basics. Devotions, Novenas, Holy Water, Houses Consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and many other practises have disappeared in families and urgently need to be introduced once again.

I agree that more Catholics buy Buddhas to display than statues of Our Lady or Our Lord. That is very sad indeed and really shows a loss of faith, IMHO.

I have to say that I am always astonished when I see those little Buddha statues in people’s homes and gardens because I’m afraid I think they are ugly to Olympic standards. I see them for sale in shops and garden centres by the score, with never a statue of Our Lady in sight. Diabolical disorientation strikes again! I mean, who wouldn’t prefer a statue of a beautiful lady to brighten a room or garden, than a wee fat man who left his wife and son in order to seek “enlightenment” for himself, whatever that means. DUH!
I agree. It’s very difficult to get Catholic religious statues in the UK for the garden. Those that are available you generally have to take out a second mortgage in order to get them, they’re so expensive. I tried to find a stone statue of Our Lady for my garden and ended up having to get one from the USA and it arrived – smashed to smithereens. It takes pride of place in the garden now, surrounded by roses. Let me think about that pay rise. In the meantime, more for the benefit of others than your good self now that you have purchased a statue, one of my nieces bought this one and it is truly beautiful. She has it placed in a corner of her garden with an arch over and she has planted flowers to cover the arch. It will be gorgeous when it comes to fruition, or should that be “flower-ition”!

That’s a really beautiful statue – the nicest I’ve ever seen. It’s a wonder more Catholics don’t put statues in their gardens, or even homes. It’s a big loss. Used to be no Catholic home was complete with some sign of the faith on the wall or a statue on the sideboard etc.
A good effort from Ellen on a very important topic. I hope it makes people who engage in transcendental meditation etc think carefully about the danger to the faith that these things are.

Thanks for highlighting the traditional Catholic devotions. Sadly, so many novus ordo groups (even relatively good ones like ‘A Day with Mary’) are using novelties like ‘The Mysteries of Light’ in the Rosary, or the ‘Via Lucis’ instead of the Stations of the Cross, and then there’s the ubiquitous ‘Divine Mercy’ devotion – not to mention the Medjugorje sham and all the other phoney apparitions/devotions. The alleged seers HAVE been told not to spread their “messages” and that’s a scandal that a brother bishop in Rome has gone to one of these fake apparitions.
The whole lot of them, nuns included, acted like Protestant Pentecostalists. If I ever had any doubt about the Medj hoax, that video would have removed it.
I haven’t managed to the to the SSPX yet but I have to say the TLM at IHOM is very edifying and what a splendid organist too! I have been going to morning Mass occasionally in Partick but I have to say I find it very priest orientated if that’s not unfair. Not sure if any others have experience of it but one lady told me he is lovely in confession you don’t confess your sins you just say your sorry and thats ok.. not sure but that doesn’t sound correct. I’ll give it more time

Self evidently, if a priest does not require a penitent to confess sins, but just say “sorry”, that is not a valid confession and there can be no absolution.
PS he’s anything but “lovely” – he is deadly, dangerous, damnable, you pays your money and you takes your pick. Please confirm here that you will be contacting the Archbishop of Glasgow to report this scandal, as is your duty.
That is appalling. There are so many abuses regarding the sacrament of confession. I think Our Lady of Quito warned about this. I know of one instance, a lady I know had been praying fervently for the return of her lapsed brother to the practice of the Faith. After 17 years or so away from the sacraments, he eventually saw a priest who just told him to make a good act of contrition and that would be sufficient. These priests will have a lot to answer for. In this case, the lapsed brother was eventually properly reconciled in confession by another priest – but think how many people don’t get that second chance.
Such a priest is a disgrace! A penitent must confess every mortal sin they can remember, this means the number of sins and anything that changes the nature of the sin. For a priest to suggest that this is not the case is heresy.
I know this is not uncommon. There’s a priest in the passionist church of St Mungo in Townhead who tells penitents to stop – he doesn’t want to hear a list of sins. Anyone who experiences this should correct the priest in the Confessional and then report him.

First of all, if the Mass is “priest orientated” then that means it is Christ-oriented, since the Catholic priest, and only the Catholic priest, is an alter Christus.
Second, this disgrace of a priest who doesn’t require an actual Confession should be asked if he thinks that the Ten Commandments are merely the ten suggestions….

I think Benedict is meaning that the NO at St Peter’s Partick is “priest-oriented” in the sense that we have come to know and hate, i.e. the performing priest is centre stage – not as an alter Christus – more as a… well… er… performing priest of the “Hi, folks, I’m Father Joe, welcome to our Mass today, boom, bang, whizzzzz!”

Yes that is correct.Lots of loud singing and he seems politically motivated which I found awkward too. I I would pass it onto the bishop as you had suggested if Had the experience myself but it was hearsay from a lady I met and therefore I would only pass it if I had heard him say it myself
I am aware of what priest orientated means in that context but I was meaning the Mass is all about him – the priest, that is he seems to draw attention to himself .. therefore priest orientated. In the TLM the priest never draws attention to himself his focus is different
