13 May: Feast of Our Lady of Fatima!

13 May: Feast of Our Lady of Fatima!

“The Message of Fatima
imposes an obligation on the Church”.… Pope John Paul II

FAQ…  from the Fatima Center website

1. What is a “consecration”?

A: It is a ceremony by which a person, group of persons, or thing is set apart as sacred and dedicated to the service of God or another sacred purpose.

2. What is meant by “the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary”?
A: At Fatima, on July 13, 1917, Our Lady told Sister Lucy that “God is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine, and persecutions of the Church and of the Holy Father. To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the Communions of reparation and for the consecration of Russia to My Immaculate Heart … In the end, My Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to Me, which will be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world.”

Our Lady’s request is very simple: Russia—the fount of so much evil in the 20th Century—must be set apart and made sacred by its consecration to the Mother of God.

3. Why is it necessary to consecrate Russia in particular?
A: Because God wills it. As Our Lady told Sister Lucy at Fatima: “Russia will be the instrument of chastisement chosen by Heaven to punish the whole world if we do not beforehand obtain the conversion of that poor nation …”

And as Sister Lucy disclosed in her published memoirs and letters, Our Lord Himself confided to her that He would not convert Russia unless the consecration were done, “Because I want My whole Church to recognize that consecration as a triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, so that it may extend its cult later on, and put the devotion to this Immaculate Heart beside the devotion to My Sacred Heart.”

Sister Lucy has explained that because Russia is a well-defined territory, the conversion of Russia after its consecration to the Immaculate Heart would be undeniable proof that the conversion resulted from the consecration and nothing else. The establishment in the world of devotion to the Immaculate Heart would thus be confirmed by God Himself in the most dramatic manner.  Read rest of the Frequently Asked Questions about the Consecration of Russia here

I definitely do not expect Pope Francis to consecrate Russia – that’s way too spiritual to fit in with his way of thinking, which seems to be completely PC, very worldly, earthbound.

Love the hymn on video – it’s beautifully sung, and voted NO in the poll !

Who could not vote “no” in that poll, LOL!

Click here to read about another major dereliction of duty on the part of Papa Francis, which suggests that Michaela’s assessment is correct. And, to the best of my knowledge, he has not yet said a word about the Irish abortion referendum. Consecrate Russia? Yeah right.

It would be a miracle comparable in magnitude to the conversion of Russia itself, were this Pope to perform the Consecration. He’s too busy performing the Desecration.

LOL! Yes, it would be a miracle if Pope Francis consecrated Russia – you are so right, he is too busy performing the Desecration!

I Googled to see if I could find anything on why the popes have not consecrated Russia, and I found this brief video of Fr Gruner answering that very question – I think his first reason is the right one, the devil is preventing it:

I agree – the first point about the Devil is the right one, that’s why none of the modernist popes have consecrated Russia. The Devil usually manipulates our pride, so he’s got easy meat with Francis, IMHO. He’ll definitely not be the pope to consecrate Russia. I’ll be amazed if I’m proved wrong about this.

It’s lovely to see and hear Fr Gruner, RIP.

I agree that the devil is to blame for the popes not carrying out the consecration. I do hope we don’t have much longer to wait.

Excellent points about Fatima! I do hope to get there one day I was recently in Lourdes and found this little book on Saint Bernadette. I could not help noticing that Our Lady in these apparitions only smiled through the Our Father and hail Mary’s, but Bowed her head and recited the Glory be’s … this is precisely what the priest does in the TLM – bowing during the first part of the Glory be .. I have never seen the NO priests do this

      Benedict McConville,

When I was in Lourdes, a priest gave a great talk on the apparitions and he said that Our Lady prayed the Our Father and the Glory Be, but not the Hail Mary’s, and that made sense to Bernadette’s parish priest because Our Lady couldn’t and wouldn’t pray to herself! So, that booklet you found in Lourdes is wrong.

Our Lady wouldn’t pray the Our Father as she is sinless.. an has no one to forgive.. so I’m pretty sure the book I have is correct

        Benedict McConville,

That makes sense! I guess the priest on my pilgrimage was wrong. I see that Our Lady being sinless would hardly have prayed the Our Father. I didn’t think of that at the time. That’s me being a slowcoach again, just catching up a few years later, LOL!

Happy Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, to one and all!

    I love the hymn!

    Happy Feast everyone!

It’s 101 years since the first apparition – it’s just incredible, watching it all coming true before our very eyes, including the disobedience of the popes to the request to consecrate Russia and release the Third Secret no later than 1960. We’ve still not been given the full Message, which is scandalous.

A very happy Feast of Fatima to all the CT bloggers.

Like everyone else, I’m champing at the bit to see the Consecration of Russia done, so we can enjoy the period of peace in the world promised by Our Lady. It’s a real mystery why it’s not been done yet, after all these years.

      Nicky,

I believe the reason it hasn’t been done is because Fatima takes the Church in precisely the opposite direction of Vatican II/ostpolitik/aggorniamento/ecumenism: that is, it is a true revitalization, reaffirmation and re-invigoration of the Church and the Faith, and of the Social Reign of Christ the King, through Our Lady, rather than an ongoing incremental undermining, diffusion and destruction, through the Freemasonic minions of Satan and their useful idiots.

And it is those minions and their useful idiots who have controlled the levers of power in the Church since 1958.

        RCA Victor,

That makes total sense, what you say. I suppose what I mean by it being a mystery is that when you look at the geo-political world stage, and you see nuclear war hovering, as we’ve seen recently both with North Korea and Russia (at different points) you would think a pope would have thought “Well, I can fix that and bring about peace and conversions in the world”, but no, no sign of that basic thinking.

Can I ask why you say 1958 – most of us tend to think of the crisis beginning in 1962.

        Nicky,

Pope John XX111, was elected Pope in 1958 and he announced the creation of the 2nd Vatican Council in 1959.

Yes, of course, that makes sense. I wasn’t thinking, so what else is new, LOL!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this Feast day thread – I’ve enjoyed reading all the comments.

I’ll close this thread now – I’m already looking forward to celebrating the 102nd anniversary of the first Fatima apparition, and, who knows, the fact that the Consecration has been carried out and the Third Secret revealed! Wouldn’t that be something!

In the meantime, renewed thanks for all the contributions today.

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us!
