Question Time Or The Fiona Bruce & Emily Thornberry Show? Your Verdict…

Note:  video originally posted her has been removed from YouTube…

Fiona Bruce’s took over the chair of Question Time for the first-time last night, Thursday, 10 January 2019.  Don’t ask me why, because the BBC bias is nowhere as predictable, but I do try to watch it every week, either live or recorded.  Last night, I watched it broadcast right after the news, and I found it very frustrating viewing, indeed.

There were only two topics:  Brexit and knife crime in London.

Only Melanie Phillips’ contributions on both topics were meaningful, in my view.  Yet, Fiona Bruce allowed her to speak only once on Brexit – notice she is not called on to join in the toing and froing between the other members of the panel when controversy arose – while the Labour politician, Emily Thornberry is given free rein to say what she wanted, as often as she wanted, more or less unchecked.

I’m also puzzled as to why the Tory politician, James Cleverly MP, appears so frequently on Question Time and other programmes where Brexit is the hot topic.  He is a weak “LEAVER”… oops!”  Just answered my own question.  There’s the reason he’s invited onto these shows and not Jacob Rees-Mogg or Owen Paterson.

In any event, this thread comes in the wake of the call from the Bishop of Galloway (south of Scotland) to Catholics to become more involved in politics.

Watching the media bias in matters political, the prevailing (and worsening) political correctness, is there really any point in Catholics becoming more involved in politics – and what, precisely does that mean?  Joining Parties which promote the evils of homosexuality and abortion?

Finally, IS it fair to describe last night’s Question Time as the Fiona Bruce & Emily Thornberry Show?  Your verdict, please!

Ed I fortunately or unfortunately don’t watch the BBC unless it’s Sport and that’s hard enough. What with Linneker and that Clare Balding it would give one the Boak . I personally would not have renewed my License Fee ( sorry stealth Tax ) to give to the Reprobates who run the BBC . But unfortunately they have us every way as watching any live TV demands a License. I even argued that Streeming on the Net wasn’t Live as it is actually about a Minute behind but I was wrong although I was right. Anyhow going back to Politics ad now Never Ever Vote Labour or the Libs nor most Certainly not our Local Nazi Party . There is though a Scottish Family Party on the start up with actual Family Values. Maybe like the little snake Harvie they may get into The Chancellry on Proportional Representation.

      FOOF,

I resolved a while back not to watch BBC either – after seeing the shocking video mocking the Real Presence, which we discussed on this blog – and I very seldom do. I am trying to keep a close eye on Brexit, so have made some exceptions for that reason, Question Time being a case in point. It’s really beyond predictable, though, as this latest edition demonstrates.

I haven’t heard of the Scottish Family Party, so must check that out, but if, as I suspect, it’s made up of various of our separated brothers and sisters, there is unlikely to be complete agreement on the key moral issues.

Anyway, I’m of one mind with this young man…

        Editor,

I’ve read a bit of the Scottish Family Party’s material. They aren’t perfect, but a step in the right direction.

I watched Question Time on Thursday and I would definitely agree that it was more like the Bruce & Thornberry Show. Emily Thornberry got to speak with hardly any interruption and just repeated over and over again the same tired stuff.

Melanie Phillips should have been brought in at the “toing and froing” part of the discussion because she would have had a fresh perspective. The others were just going over and over their own old ground. I found it boring, actually, and with them talking over each other, couldn’t hear half of it.

As for the Bishop’s call for Catholics to get more involved in politics, well, the so-called Catholics who are involved right now are a waste of space. They make it very clear that their Catholicism is not going to interfere with their party’s policies, and so any Catholic worthy of the name wouldn’t be allowed to get away with going off the PC messages. Just look at what happened to Melanie Phillips on QT when she dared to challenge the claims that the Met Police are racist, and she’s not a Catholic! So, no, any real Catholic who slipped through the vetting procedure would soon make front page news on moral issues, and would be badgered into resigning in no time.

I tend to watch QT if there is at least one panel member worth hearing but if this continues, where the NON-PC panel member is not permitted to speak and we’re being brainwashed with the usual suspects, I won’t be watching it. At least David Dimbleby mostly made sure that everyone was included throughout the show.

I couldn’t agree more – it was definitely the Fiona Bruce Show and she is getting rave reviews on social media, so it that continues, I’ll not watch it in future.

Melanie was easily the only independent thinker on the panel, and if they don’t get some genuine Brexiteers on now that we are getting close to exit date, I can’t see it getting any better.

I completely agree – it’s a bit depressing that Fiona Bruce is getting good feedback, as she will just continue on in the same way, showing her own bias, as she did in her first broadcast as chair of Question Time.

There’s no point in writing to the BBC, IMHO, even if you could find an email (I have checked their website and can’t find any way of communicating with them, surprise, surprise!) – they get plenty of stick for their bias in discussions online which I’m sure they see, but it makes no difference.

Switch off, I say. Don’t give them the ratings. That’s the only way to get them to change direction.

I too watched Question Time on Thursday. Margaret Mary, I saw the rave reviews Fiona Bruce was getting on social media. Mind you, I don’t watch the BBC at all, but, this was an exception. It is as though the BBC is a government mouthpiece.

I agree with Margaret Mary, that Melanie was the only independent thinker on the panel. Apart from her it seemed as though the other panellists were there to uphold the Remain in the EU argument.

      Theresa Rose,

Spot on – apart from Melanie, everyone else was either overtly remain or – as in the case of the misnamed Mr Cleverly – half-baked leave/remain.

That edition of Question Time was a real bore, sorry. As others have said, apart from Melanie Phillips, who is always clear headed on the PC stuff (she drives everyone nuts on climate change, LOL!) the rest of the panel were just trotting out the usual material.

I have a question, though. Does anyone know what the BBC has to gain from being in the EU? I hope this isn’t a stupid question but I can’t help wondering why the whole broadcasting media seems to be against Brexit. Does anyone know?

      Laura,

Sorry, boring old me answering, but I did wait a while to see if anyone would beat me to it, especially since I don’t really know how to answer your question adequately – or at all, really 😀

I presume the BBC and broadcasting media generally, is opposed to Brexit because they believe the propaganda that it has more benefits for the UK than we will have outside. Younger people who haven’t lived in the UK when it was independent of the EU can’t imagine what it would be like to be outside the Union, and think the worst. At root, I think it’s perhaps to do with the human dislike of change.

Not sure if this makes sense but it’s the best I can do – I did a quick Google search but nothing came up that answers your question (at least, not on page 1 😀 )

Good question, Laura. I’ve often wondered that.

We here in Australia have a similar TV Programme on Monday evenings. I must confess that I never watch it although it is guaranteed that there is a review of the programme in The Australian on Tuesdays. Not surprisingly it is called “Q and A”. The presenter is notorious for his left wing views and the audiences, although supposedly chosen randomly from all backgrounds nevertheless are totally composed of left-wing supporters and the ABC which is supposed to be without any bias, clearly is “Conservative Free” in all its journalists. Because of the blatant bias of the ABC I carefully choose whatever programme is on before I ever choose to tune in to it. I will accept programmes such as “Songs of Praise” or “Landline” which is about farming and the world markets on wool sales etc.
I do not like to be fed left-wing viewpoints.

My thoughts are the BBC is now one of the many propaganda arms of the globalist NWO which are in control of most countries in the world barring a few exceptions. They control both parties here and in America hence that is why Trump is vilified they cannot control him like other politicians he has his own wealth so unlike other politicians can’t be bribed. Note the difference between Obama and Trump one said UK was at the back of the queue the other said we would like to do trade with the UK.
So to try and answer Laura’s question I believe the BBC is part of what Trump would call the swamp who are in control of most of the MSM! Have you not noticed day after day negative stories about BREXIT which will not be allowed to happen in any meaningful way.

The NWO has taken years to reach this point with Europe which was the first step of a one world government, the lyrics of Hotel California spring to mind you can check in but you can’t check out!
    Ask Ireland Holland and France.

Very interesting long article by Randy Engel what was said in 1969 to a group of doctors in a seminar how the world is going to change, how the Catholic Church is going to help with these changes.
Many other things were said most of them have happened.
