The Winner of the Confused Cardinal Competition is… Cardinal Dolan!

Comment:

Cardinal Dolan’s confusion is mind-boggling.  It’s beyond belief than any prelate would makes excuses not to publicly excommunicate this man for his shocking legalisation of infanticide and then to say he’s “restless” when faced with the possibility of at least refusing him Communion – which is mandated anyway in Canon Law #915 for “[those] who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin…”

More than one bishop has already invoked this law to prohibit pro-abortion politicians from approaching for Holy Communion – click here to read more.

Overall, while he’s tailor made for show-business, Cardinal Dolan is unimpressive as a prelate of the Catholic Church.  And that is to understate the case by a zillion miles…

If you disagree – which I cannot imagine – tell us;  otherwise share your thoughts on just how long it is likely to take for infanticide (the murder of the new-born infant) to be legalised here in the UK.

Incredibly, New York’s murderous Governor Andrew Cuomo ordered a number of buildings, including One World Trade Center, to be lit up pink to “celebrate” the passing of the Bill.  This is one very sick mind at work. Please pray for him – and for the very confused Cardinal Dolan.  IS there a more confused cardinal anywhere in the world?

This man – a supposed “prince of the Church” – could actually JOKE at the start of that interview?

My goodness. I really thought I’d seen and heard it all – if only he could see himself as others see him (to quote Rabbie Burns) it might dawn on him that HE is the joke.

Horrendous member of the hierarchy. “Confused” is an understatement.

      Josephine,

Yes, the opening “personality boy” joke is typical of him, at least on the few occasions I’ve seen him in action on video.

And notice how quickly he disowns the description “ghoulish, gruesome” etc, pointing out that these are not HIS words, but the words of “independent observers”. He has no sense that, not only should he be perfectly happy to use such words but that his horror (totally absent) should be even more marked than any “independent observer” – and if he had any kind of “relationship” with God at all (to use the “relationship” buzz word) he would have been furiously outspoken in his condemnation of this barbarism. It is beyond belief that he dismissed the interviewer’s question about at least refusing the Governor Holy Communion if not publicly excommunicating him. As for his downright stupid answer to the question about excommunication – that it wouldn’t do any good, that Cuomo would be indifferent, that is not the point! It would send a clear signal to the world that this is beyond serious, beyond “immoral” – this is outright, downright evil. How anyone can think this is not so serious – and the Cardinal’s whole demeanour suggests that HE is not going to lose any sleep (or food) over it – really does leave me speechless.

Indeed, these days, I just cannot get the words of St John Chrysostom out of my head, that there are very few bishops who are saved, many more who are lost.

Does ANYONE doubt St John Chrysostom’s words these days, witnessing what is going on in the Church, and seeing the likes of Cardinal Dolan so light-heartedly answering questions on the subject of a Catholic politician publicly expressing his delight at sanctioning, in law, the murder of new-born babies – because that is, effectively, what “abortion up to birth” in fact means.

God help that man at his Judgment – God HELP him. That one interview alone is way up there at the top of the “scandal scale”.

      Editor,

A noble gesture, but I guarantee you Cdl. Dolan will be too busy shuckin’ and jivin’ and doin’ the Francis Shuffle to bother with people of no influence like us. After all, we’re interested in the truth…

Meanwhile, back behind the curtain, here’s a writer who thinks that Dolan made a deal with Cuomo so that, in exchange for Dolan looking the other way on this bill, the sexual abuse heat would be taken off of the Church (i.e. the NYC Archdiocese) and spread around to include public schools and other public institutions:

      https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2019/02/dolans_sneaky_new_york_victory.html

…which reminded me of the sotto voce pre-Vatican II deal John XXIII made with the Russians (the Metz Pact), not to condemn Communism in exchange for having Russian Orthodox representatives at the Council.

I believe that’s called stabbing the Church in the back for 30 pieces of silver. S.O.P. for prelates ever since.

        RCA Victor,

Thank you for posting that extremely interesting article. I was horrified to read the reference to “the torture of the Down’s Syndrome children on Long Island…” And I know you are probably right about the Cardinal being too busy (having fun) to bother visiting us, but I sincerely hope you’re wrong in that he takes time to check in, albeit briefly. Being able to speak my mind about his (lack of) character and Catholicity is the next best thing to having five minutes alone with him in a locked room. So, if you’re reading this Cardinal Dolan, read on – it gets worse. Much.

I think the writer has made a very strong case for the likelihood of a deal between the Cardinal and Cuomo – how utterly evil.

It’s interesting to speculate on the exchange rate – what, I wonder, is today’s equivalent of those 30 pieces of silver?

Cardinal Dolan seems to have lost his faith a long time ago, where is the uproar from Catholic’s and the American people.

      John,

Awww – that beautiful baby! I could not believe it. So very beautiful. Those who are butchering these babies, at whatever stage in the womb, will end up in the lower reaches of Hell, no question about it.

Thank you very much for posting that video – as you say, the actor in the film is saying what the Cardinal should have said, and is showing the kind of genuine emotion that any normal person would show on realising that these little children – already at risk in the womb, which has become the most dangerous nine months of anyone’s life today – face savagely being murdered in the outrageous and nonsensical cause of “the woman’s right to choose”.

I firmly believe that the pro-life movement should change tactic big time now. Forget about pushing the humanity of the child – the abortionists, who are more accurately described as death merchants (or simply “murderers”) don’t care about that. All they care about is the ridiculous “woman’s right to choose”.

We need to be much more clear on this issue. NO woman has the right to choose to murder anyone. End of discussion.

And before anyone jumps in to lecture me about the “agonising” a woman goes through before deciding on an abortion – RUBBISH! Look back to the Irish referendum, the joy, the sheer joy, the women dancing, literally, in the streets, delighted at winning the YES vote, giving them the right to kill their unborn baby, if, that is, they choose. If they choose to keep the baby, albeit simply to hand him/her (or “they”) over to a child minder while they go back to pushing bits of paper around an office, so be it, but as long as it’s the woman’s choice. Crazy.

These women will have a price to pay one day when the real agony begins, for it cannot, surely, be the case that none of them suffers from a troubled conscience, that none of them feel guilty, that none of them realise the gravity of what they have done.

We need to pray for that sort of agony for these women, so that they may repent before they are called to explain themselves at Judgment.

Mother most sad pray for us…

Cardinal Dolan’s duty before God was clear and he failed miserably, just like most of his confreres in the hierarchy have been failing the faithful for decades by their silence in the face of real evil.

He is problably right when he says excommunicating Cuomo would make no difference to the man, but it would make a huge difference to other liberal Catholic legislators who teeter on the verge of apostasy, thereby saving lives and souls.

I wonder how many unborn children will die in the womb as a result of Cardinal Dolan’s cowardice, and I wonder how many souls will ultimately perish in eternity because of his bad example. Would you want a man like Cardinal Dolan watching your back in the trenches during a war? I certainly wouldn’t.

Catholics, including bishops and priests, were looking to him to act against Cuomo’s evil with the spiritual power he has by reason of his sacred office. What they got were empty words and excuses. He’s a disgrace.

They will soon meet their nemesis. Not only are they themselves excommunicated by God Himself, but they are also a scandal to the world.

      MyForever77,

Yes, as I’ve just posted below, we mustn’t forget that anyone who facilitates an abortion – and this scoundrel Cuomo fits, with much ease, into that category – is automatically excommunicated. Unfortunately, the majority of Catholics, never mind “the world” won’t know that and so the scandal is intensified.

I tried to email the letter below to Andrew Cuomo but it just keeps coming back to my inbox with a server error. I have no alternative email address for Cuomo so I thought I would just post it here. Who knows, someone might direct Cuomo to the blog!

It is so frustrating trying to send emails to U.S. government bodies. You use the proper email format and yet the messages just keep bouncing back. Very irritating.

    Governor Cuomo,

A few days ago you chose to place your name amongst the infamous names of Pharaoh and Herod, who, like you, abused their power to authorise the killing of babies in the womb. You were surrounded with much applause as you signed their little lives away, forgetting that all our lives are short while eternity is forever. The applause has now died away but you will carry with you that evil act you initiated and celebrated before your godless admirers. And consider this: Every child murdered in the womb by the stroke of your pen will be there at your judgement to accuse you before God.

I wrote to Cardinal Dolan urging him to excommunicate you for this public evil you have committed against humanity while pretending to act for the benefit of women. His Eminence has failed to do his duty in this regard, arguing that an apostate from the Faith such as yourself would only wear the sentence as a badge of honour. Well that’s as may be, but the Cardinal is obliged to send a clear message to all other Catholic politicians and public figures who teeter on the edge of the abyss, using their freedom, as St. Paul lamented, as a cloak for malice, that they cannot pretend to be Catholic while behaving like barbarians.

I believe New York is the only city in the world that has a “Temple of Satan”. Well, now it is the only city in the world that enshrines the killing of babies in the womb right up to full term. The concern for me is that Satan is the real ruler in New York today. Pride and rebellion are his hallmarks and they are all over your abortion legislation. Have the courage to research abortion and see what it is you have done. If there is any humanity left in you then you will be utterly appalled by the graphic truth of what you consider to be a mere medical procedure. I dare you to watch a video of a late abortion, or indeed any abortion, at the very least to enlighten you of the true horror of the suppressed reality behind the public lie.

I hope you will reflect very seriously on this and recant the evil you have done, for what does it profit the man…?

    Sincerely in the Holy Family

      Athanasius,

“… you signed their little lives away, forgetting that all our lives are short while eternity is forever.”

      Well said. Nail on head.

The only thing I would say to complement (i.e. add to) what you have said about “researching abortion” is that really there isn’t much, if any, research required in the case of abortion AT birth, which is what we are talking about, it’s what this apostate has signed into law; we mustn’t be fooled by terminology such as “in labour abortion” or anything else – what will be lying on that hospital table will be a fully grown baby. A new-born, but for the fact that he/she has just been murdered. The law passed by that pretend Catholic, is the legalisation of infanticide – the state-sanctioned murder of infants.

We just need to look at the gorgeous baby in the video posted by John, where the baby was born 4 months early (!) i.e. at 5 months, to see that already we have a recognisable, by any standards, human child.

Pro-lifers must drive home this fact….

There’s been a lot wrong in the western world for a long time, as we know. This barbarism, this savagery takes us to a whole new level of undiluted, unconscionable evil.

As the actor said in that video posted by John – it is astounding that there is not a huge outcry, that people are not rising up in protest about this, in the U.S.A.

      Unbelievable.

The actor Robert Davi says what Cardinal Dolan should have said and did not. I watched the video where Cuomo signed this despicable abortion legislation, that ended in cheers for he had just done.

What an excellent thought RCAVictor. Unfortunately I don’t think that the mechanism is yet in place to excommunicate the High Priest Dolittle (as Eccles calls him in his blog Eccles and Bosco are Saved). It appears to fall under the jurisdiction of the Ordinary in which a miscreant resides to actually administer the excommunication and I think that High Priest Dolittle resides in the diocese administered by High Priest Dolittle. He would have to excommunicate himself!!!
      Now there’s a thought!
There are several bishops calling for Cardinal Dolittle to exercise his episcopal authority for the GOOD of the whole community, never mind the good of the individual Cuomo. But that thought has never crossed his mind, it appears.

We should remember that all those involved in facilitating abortion are automatically excommunicated. The Church’s law is explained clearly here – and the final paragraph is of particular interest because I don’t think this aspect of Confession is widely known.

Note: for someone to be excommunicated, they have to know that the offence is excommunicable, and so the Cardinal should have been publicly warning of this, as soon as Cuomo made known his intention to legalise this savagery.

Words fail me. A Cardinal. Who would have even dreamt of such as thing happening in the not very distant past? Which brings to my mind the Cardinal’s background of which I know naught, but can guess, judging by his name, is Irish. That poor fallen race, but, once a great nation. He must be about 70 which would make his mother about 100, therefore born when the Irish were real Catholics. Surely she taught him well? What would she think of him now? As for his grandparents, they’d be near enough Famine refugees! They must be turning in their graves! What the English couldn’t inflict on the Faith of the Irish, sin, pride and worldliness accomplished it for them. Somewhere, deep down in the recesses of the Cardinal’s clouded soul, there must be a little voice from grade school urging him to repent.

      Crofterlady,

“Snakes or wolves in sheep’s clothing… and the rest !

I do wish you would stop pussy-footing around, Crofterlady, and speak your mind 😀

Raymond did quite well in that interview, but just a bit more straight-talking would have won him the Catholic Truth Interview of the Year award. He fell just a little bit short of what would have really hit home because he was too polite. Obviously a kind gentleman, very polite. Despite that, he did manage to make clear at several points that it is the Bishop’s responsibility to take action against public dissenters and public scandal – the likes of which we have never seen before; who DOES that – kills a new-born baby and thinks it’s not an issue, or, in the case of those Bishops, fears upsetting the guilty through excommunication. What?!? Cuomo & Co. don’t give a toss but by not acting, these Bishops are selling the Church short, making her look weak. Do they EVER think about their judgment?

That Bishop of Albany just left me shaking my head. There is just no sense of the issues, no awareness of the essential purpose of his own office, just a silly grin and meaningless soundbites. And his ignorance was manifest when he excused the failure to excommunicate Cuomo and others who played a part in bringing about this evil law, by saying (rightly) that the purpose of excommunication is partly to bring the sinner back… Yes, of course! But you can’t DO that until he’s been excommunicated! For heaven’s sake, am I a genius (recommended answer) or are these Bishops just plain stupid?

That also came through in the clip of Cardinal Dolan shown by Raymond (I had to go back, there, and add “Cardinal” – I have absolutely ZERO respect for him and others like him).

Imagine answering the question about excommunication by pushing the responsibility for action onto the laity! Unbelievable! Cardinal Dolan really should throw up his hands and admit he chose the wrong vocation – and switch to show-business.

These men just do not have the proverbial clue. They are about as Catholic as a JK Rowling novel and about as traditional as a mobile phone.

We had another new person at the SSPX Glasgow Mass this morning, hot on the heels of another couple who have been attending for a couple of weeks. If only the majority of the faithful would face up to the fact that what they are witnessing in the Church right now, at every level, from the newest curate to Papa Francis, is simply not Catholic – and similarly vote with their feet. Return to the Faith of our Fathers, beginning with the Mass.

If these bishops – Cardinal Dolan and the Bishop of Albany – were in possession of the Catholic Faith, whole and entire, they would be unable to speak about the fact that Catholics in their charge are voting and signing into law, the murder of new-born babies, without removing the wide grins from their faces and displaying righteous anger – big time.

I could write much more but I’ve already gone on long enough for now, so apologies for rambling.

What DO you mean, Editor, I always speak my mind! Seriously though, I was left speechless at the spineless Bishop of Albany. He was simply a weak and unspeakable leader. I almost screamed at the screen except the rest of the family would have been shocked no doubt. How has it come to this that A Bishop of the Catholic Church IS NOT out there defending these defensible little babies? Are they all deluded or what? The mind boggles, even mine.

This disaster calls to mind John XXIII’s opening speech to the Council, in which he stated, based on a foundation of thin air, that “human society seems to be entering a new order of things” – a statement which either reflected the Modernist idea that mankind had moved beyond the need for the traditional Church and her teachings, or in fact prepared the promotion of that falsehood at the about-to-be-hijacked Council and afterward.

Modern man has come of age….well, he certainly has: to establish legalized infanticide, legalized perversion and depravity, legalized destruction of the family, legalized usury…in short, a legalization of all the godless errors of Russia and Freemasonry, enforced by a bureaucratic tyranny and media lynch mobs.

So congratulations, modern man: you have finally showed what you are made of without God and His Church. Bestiality.

And congratulations, Catholic hierarchy: you have surrendered lock, stock and barrel to the bestiality to which you opened the door at Vatican II.

Dolan is surely the poster boy for “Vatican 2” clergy.

Always ready with a joke and hearty belly laugh, and constantly wearing an inane grin.

His role is to be everyone’s friend and provoke the polite murmurs of laughter on demand, common at the novus ordo. That’s it – nothing else.

I cant read or hear his name, without seeing an image of him celebrating mass wearing a hat styled as a large segment of cheese.

    http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_UBAD6N1mREo/SaLXtxcd8jI/AAAAAAAAAp0/a9BNOQKW33c/s320/dolan+cheese

His other favourite pose is to be pictured “hooting with laughter” typically when posing with powerful Democrat politicians.

Not a figure to be taken seriously, he is fundamentally incapable of offering criticism or giving a rebuke – even in a very serious case like this. And this is the crux of his ineffectual style – obviously, as a prelate, he has a paternal role concerning his clergy and his flock.

Yet, imagine the father of a household, who failed (refused?) to impose discipline on his children when necessary. Not only would he be a deadbeat father, but most likely those would be errant children.

And this is what Cardinal Dolan is – a deadbeat.

Lets not forget, he is also notorious for failing to defend the NYC St Patrick’s day parade by opening it up to the participation of LGBT groups.

Why does the position of Archbishop of New York even exist, if the incumbents will not exercise the role properly?

I remember reading that, during medieval siege warfare, anyone within a castle under siege who was not a soldier – or otherwise involved in the defence of the castle – was known as a “useless mouth”.

I cannot help but think that is an excellent description of the Cardinal.

I think you have just described a Churchman who has is more worldly diplomat than heavenly disciple. He is simply empty of holy zeal and piety, as are most of his confreres today in the hierarchy. That was the real transformation Vatican II brought about, emptying the Church and its hierarchy of God.

The pro – abortion lobby not content with killing babies in the womb they want to kill them fully formed and outside the womb and the full force of the law must sanction it.

This law was passed so if ( Roe v Wade ) was overturned New York would always have abortion enshrined in law.
No one can now claim the baby is a fetus, a mere collection of cells, the compassionate mask of the pro- abortionat lobby has fallen off,no life now is safe all pretence of ignorance and compassion is now discarded.

The next logical step for the pro- abortionists to silence all objections and demand brutal measures against all those who dare speak against them!

How scandalous, though, that she is able to say – and we cannot contradict her – that The Catholic Church has lost enough credibility in the last few years for them to not step up to every pulpit in every church in this nation and implore their congregants to recognise the evil being committed. Josephine,

That’s beautiful! How lucky the Americans are to have a pro-life President who is unafraid to speak out in defence of the unborn – and the born who are about to be executed. Unlike the pseudo-Catholic Nancy Pelosi sitting behind.

The President’s fearless confrontation of this scandal reminded me of this nutcase female who just won’t even express an opinion on it and just repeats propaganda about the “woman’s right to choose” to murder infants…

You’ll enjoy the comment ‘Auntie Joanna’ made about the New York situation on her blog:

“The Catholic Bishops have rightly denounced it. But where are the other voices? Evangelicals seem to be less vigorous than 20 years ago.Episcopalians have long ceased to be a moral voice.”

    It made me laugh, anyway!

Priceless! Thank you, Alan, for posting that hilarious comment from “Auntie Joanna” – totally priceless!

Like you, it made me laugh – albeit a very hollow laugh!

I can’t find anything online about Pope Francis commenting on this scandal. Has anyone else got a link?
