17/3 St Patrick’s Day: Pray for Ireland
Comment:
As always with devotional threads, feel free to post your favourite hymns, prayers, stories and jokes of the “good clean fun” variety. Above all, however, please pray for Ireland today; the Faith has gone, and the state of both Irish politics and the Irish hierarchy appear to be in terminal decline. So much so, that I feel the need to add the hymn to Our Lady of Knock, as we all, I hope, seek her intercession in prayer for that once great Catholic country, now among the (if not THE) most secular of all the nations in Europe.
A very happy St Patrick’s day to one and all!

Happy St Patrick’s Day to all bloggers!
Surely these isles need a new St Patrick (or Patricia) to banish the snakes of today (heresies)? Please God he/she will come soon!
Petrus,
I see there’s always coverage of Ireland in the newsletter so maybe a new St Pat (male or female) WILL arrive soon to help save that poor nation.
Petrus,
Here’s someone in today’s Catholic World Report who agrees with you

It really is terribly sad to see what has happened to Ireland.
Happy St Patrick’s Day!
Aye, Petrus. We need Our Lady of Knock to crush the head of serpent-in-chief, ‘Leo Vodka’…
Pat McKay,
Happy Feast especially to you!
“Leo Vodka…” – LOVE it!
Happy St Patrick’s day to everyone at Catholic Truth.
I wish everyone on the blog a very happy Feast of St Patrick!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to one and all!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Wishing everyone a happy St. Patrick’ Day.
Petrus, I agree, Ireland really needs another St. Patrick to banish heresies.
Happy Saint Patrick’s day to all CT bloggers.
I LOVE the two videos – the beautiful hymn to St Patrick sung by the Irish Tenors is just superb and I always love the hymn to Our Lady of Knock – who will surely intercede for Ireland today.
La fheile Padraig!
Crofterlady,
I presume that just means happy St Patrick’s feast but when I tried to find out using Google, it came up as Spanish but with no English translation! LOL!
Anyway, same to you! I’ve listened to The Irish Tenors a few times now and it’s really beautiful. I remember when we used to all make a point of buying some shamrock and some people even had it sent over from Ireland, but nobody seems to bother any more, sadly. I agree we need to pray for Ireland, very hard.
Happy St Patrick’s day to everyone!
This is from the Menaion for March 17 on the Byzantine Catholic calendar:
Our Holy Father Alexis, Man of God
Our Holy Father Patrick, Enlightener of Ireland
The term “Enlightener” = “Baptizer” because in the Mystery (Sacrament) of Baptism one is delivered from darkness and sin and is truly enlightened, becoming a child of God and Our Lady, heir to the kingdom of heaven, a member of the Mystical Body of Christ etc.
St. Patrick truly enlightened Ireland and drove away the snakes of darkness and error. Now the modernists have brought them back with a vengeance.
Wishing the entire CT family a Happy Feast of St. Alexis and St. Patrick. Most of all, a Happy Patronal Feast Day to our beloved Madame Editor!

Joyeuse fête à tous les irlandais, que Saint Patrick les protège de l’apostasie et des dérives morales!…
Happy feast to all Irish, Saint Patrick, please, protect them from apostasy and from moral drifts!…
Hamingjusamur hátíð fyrir alla írska, Saint Patrick verndar þá frá fráfalli og siðferðislegu ofbeldi!…
A very happy St Patrick’s day to all.
I loved the hymns – both were very uplifting!
Thank you to everyone who paid tribute to St Patrick – my patron saint – today. I’m sorry I’ve left it too late to respond to everyone individually but I’ve read each and every comment and I’m delighted that you all called in to wish me a happy Feast, I mean, to honour Saint Patrick! And don’t forget – keep praying for Ireland.
Until next year, then… 😀
