Comment:
Our Blogger, Margaret USA, asked me to post this commentary of Bishop Schneider about the fire at Notre Dame – I’d just placed a headline in our forthcoming May newsletter about the fire at Notre Dame being a metaphor for the destruction (humanly speaking) of the Church when it arrived in my inbox, so it was well timed. Those of our newsletter readers who are not online will draw some comfort from it, no doubt. What about you?

My heart sank when I heard the news. But even the most heinous crimes against God, whether initiated from within or without the Church, can detract from providence: victory is assured.
Having just completed the Exodos 90 programme today, I am convinced that a new generation of men are breaking through the ranks of the faithful, and that VII will be consigned in time to the history books.
Blessed Easter.
Happy Easter, Summa.
What is Exodos 90?
Hi Petrus
Easter Blessing to you and your family.
To quote straight off the tin…”Exodus 90 is a spiritual exercise for the renewal of the Church. It’s a challenging 90-day period of prayer and asceticism, supported by a fraternity of like-minded men.” https://exodus90.com/
The fraternity idea, is to get together with like minded men to support each other on the way through it. The fraternity can be meet physically or communicate through the provided app. FAQs here https://exodus90.com/faq/

Dear Madame Editor,
Thank you for the post! 😊
REJOICE – CHRIST IS RISEN!
O day of Resurrection!
Let us beam with festive joy!
O Pasch, O Pasch of the Lord,
For from death to life, from earth to Heaven,
Christ our God has led us
Who sing the hymn of victory!
Resurrection Matins, Canon of St. John Damascene, Ode 1
The Angel cried out to the One Full of Grace: “O chaste Virgin, rejoice! And again I say rejoice! Your Son has risen from the tomb on the third day and raised the dead. Let all people rejoice.”
Irmos: Shine, shine O new Jerusalem, for the glory of the Lord has risen upon you! Rejoice now and be glad, O Zion. And you, O chaste Mother of God, rejoice in the resurrection of Him Whom you bore.
Divine Liturgy, Hymn to the Mother of God (also the 9th Ode of Resurrection Matins).
Wishing all of you a blessed Pascha/Easter!
Yours in the Risen Christ,
Margaret
Holy & happy Easter to all of you! LD
Saintes et joyeuses Pâques à tous et à toutes!
Surrexit Dominus vere, alleluia!
Господь воистину воскрес!
Lionel,
I have to offer my condolences to you, I remember you are from Paris, France, so my sympathy on the fire at Notre Dame.
Thank you very much, Fidelis!
I am sure that someone put fire to the Cathédrale Notre-Dame…
Many other churches have burned around the country last year and the leaders did not do anything; they did not even mention the events…
It is HORRIBLE!
Happy Easter! LD
Happy Easter to all bloggers.
A Happy and Holy Easter to all the bloggers, and Deo Gracias for Bishop Schneider!
Welcome back everyone, and a very happy and holy Easter to one and all.
I’ve just received this video in my inbox – Michael Matt, Editor of The Remnant – gets extremely interesting at the point where Michael speaks about the Rooster…
Some thoughts on MM’s video and the fire:
1. France, the Eldest Daughter of the Church, did a lot more than merely “turn away” from the Faith: she has been actively and deliberately persecuting it since 1789, as if possessed by self-loathing.
2. I thought it was extremely suspicious that immediately after the fire, while the ruins were still glowing in fact, so many people on Satan’s payroll were so eager to “rebuild” Notre Dame to suit the modern “diversity” of France, Macron foremost and despicably among them. As if they had been waiting for this fire to begin, so they could run their diabolical intentions up the flagpole.
3. If any of you have sifted through the mysteries of the 9-11 attack in New York, you may remember that there were some very interesting events taking place at the World Trade Center just before the attacks: “Scott Forbes was employed by Fiduciary Trust Company International, located on the 97th floor of the South Tower at the WTC complex. He says there were some very strange events in the weeks leading up to the attacks, including; a complete power down of the building for over 36
hours, and mysterious ‘engineers’ doing work in the building using spools of wire just days before the 9/11 attacks.” https://newspunch.com/911-tower-had-power-turned-off-for-36-hours-weekend-before-attack/
4. That Holy Card (around 13:00) is really mind-boggling….
5. A very eloquent and inspiring conclusion by Michael. As Father said in his sermon this morning, Our Lord cannot be known without His Cross.
(What I was getting at with point #3 above is that the ongoing roof construction at Notre Dame certainly provided an ideal opportunity for an attack. This technique has been used before.)
RCAVictor,
It is clear!
A Blessed & Happy Easter to one & all!
And to you, DOTF – been a while since you’ve popped by… We missed you!
I loved the Regina Caeli with Pope Benedict, and the Remnant video – the Rooster on the novus ordo table, is amazing.
I have to mention that while France has the title of Eldest Daughter of the Church, Scotland has the title Special Daughter of Rome!
Happy Easter everyone!
A Happy and Blessed Easter to everyone.
How sad about the massacre in Sr Lanka on this Easter Sunday. Tragic.
Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith is one of my all-time favourites for pope – maybe next time!
I too join in wishing everyone a Happy Easter.
Wherever I read the word ‘Ultra’ I’m on high alert for loony left loquaciousness. https://amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/apr/20/popes-church-catholicism-easter-francis-steve-bannon
Editor: that may be. But when you saw the source (I mean, the Guardian?) and author (I mean, Peter Stanford?) you should have been on high alert for heresy, and that is what we got, big time!
In a televised “word-association” game, Peter Stanford associated “the Devil” with “delicious.” Read, then, folks, every word with care – and then some!
Oh, and, Mungo – I’m sure you just forgot, but accept OUR Easter good wishes for you and yours…
Dear Editor,
Is there perhaps some conflict between the video which you have posted and your admiration for the good Cardinal Ranjith?
Editor: Er… no…
Having lived in France for a number of years, I can personally testify to the constant harassment, discrimination and racism faced by Ranjith’s fellow Sri Lankan Catholics in Paris, on an almost daily basis (Often at the hands of NF sympathising thugs).
Editor: Well, I hope you did something about that, whether by some kind of active defence, writing letters to the press, or whatever. I would be interested to learn what, precisely, you did about it. Catholics, however, are persecuted across the world and we hear little about it. Here in Scotland, we are the largest group, statistically, who suffer harassment and discrimination, way above the figures for Protestants AND Muslims (who were the lowest group at the last count). I’ve reported this in our newsletter on more than one occasion in the recent past. That’s what I do to publicise the scandal of persecuted Catholics in Scotland. What did YOU do to publicise the alleged scandal of persecuted Sri Lankan Catholics in France?
Meanwhile, the Gentleman from the Remnant speaks of ‘the Gauls’ restoring the faith, while the theme of ‘race’ runs like a thread throughout his entire video, at one point he even shares a National Front speech by Marine Le Pen. Mme Le Pen is an avowed far-right racist, and is now being courted and supported by Steve Bannon (Also a racist, far-right ‘ethno-nationalist’).
Editor: you have clearly been watching a different video from the one I posted on our blog. Marion Maréchal-Le Pen was mentioned in the video as a politician who makes (or made) the Chartres Pilgrimage every year. In the clip which lasted a few seconds, I didn’t hear her say a racist word. You, clearly, are one of those (majority population) who uncritically drink in the leftist propaganda which passes as our (fake) news; goodness, even my 16 year old nephew told me only yesterday that he won’t watch the mainstream news because it’s so obviously doctored. He quoted a string of facts about Donald Trump to make his point – facts which we are absolutely not getting here on the dear old BBC or Sky News. So, my response to that part of your comment is quite simply, gerragrip. It’s quite possible, you know, to refer to “race” without being “racist” – I mean, was God being “sexist” when he said he would spare Sodom if 10 just men could be found… why not 10 just “people” or “men and women”? Michael Matt did quote that part of Scripture and since you haven’t screamed “sexist”, I suppose you might have missed it. Would LOVE to know your view on that one…
Equally, the SSPX in France remains closely linked to the worst elements of neo-Vichyite / Petainists (As we all know, the late Mgr Lefebvre made a major mistake in consecrating the crank anti-Semite Williamson)
Editor: And, as we all know, too, Our Lord “made a major mistake (and how) in ordaining the disloyal (and how) Judas Iscariot”. Still, we all make mistakes…
Contrast all this with Mgr François Ducaud-Bourget featured at the beginning of the video, (the spiritual father of the Institute of the Good Shepherd), who joined the French Resistance and helped save Jews from the Nazis.
Editor: Does this mean you’re really a closet “traditionalist”? So far, all I’m reading in your comment is pure, undiluted hatred of the beautiful Remnant video, and thus, by extension, hatred of the very idea that the traditional Catholic religion should be (and will be) fully restored.
As such, I ask you, do you honestly think the same Far-right French neo-fascists, who are mistreating Parisian based Sri Lankan Catholics, are good bedfellows for traditional Catholics?
Editor: only someone with your diabolically skewed mentality could misinterpret the contents of the Remnant video to the extent that you have misinterpreted it. My best advice: stop watching the fake news broadcasts, read/listen to what people are actually saying and stop falling for the fake news labels. If you can’t give up viewing the rubbish, then at least train yourself to be automatically sceptical of everything reported in the mainstream media. Here’s how I learned to do that. Drum roll…
It happened as a result of a conversation I had a few years ago, over a cup of coffee, with someone who described himself as a “socialist” – he was steeped in left-wing politics. Anyone with a view that might be attributed to the Conservative Party, e.g. was headed for the Humanist equivalent of Hell. Innocently, I mentioned over a cup of coffee that I was interested in the rise of UKIP, that Nigel Farage struck me as a fair-minded person blah blah. This was before the 2016 referendum on EU membership. You would have thought I’d told him I had taken to drink and was now a top Glasgow drug-dealer. He informed me that he was astonished that I would give any credibility to “that racist”. When I said I hadn’t heard him saying anything racist, but would watch and listen more carefully from now on, things calmed down and I made my get-away at the earliest opportunity. From that day until this, I have not heard Nigel Farage say a single racist word. YOU – perhaps -will consider that anyone who thinks we need border controls is racist, and if so, I’ve been hearing about a bridge over the River Clyde that’s up for sale – send me the deposit if you’re interested and I’ll sort out the sale for you.
In summary… Really, now, Dale, think for yourself. Stop being a sponge, taking in all the propaganda on all the usual suspects. Think, I repeat, think for yourself. And when you’ve done that… (drum roll)… think again!
Xpicmoc Bockpese!
Dear Lionel,
I saw this and immediately thought of you:

Joyeuses Pâques à vous et votre famille.

I have received the following poem in my inbox – I said I would post it on the General Discussion thread but it strikes me that it is perfectly appropriate to post here – enjoy!
Song of creation
They who hear the song love the singer
Music promising light from darkness
Peace and life ever lasting
Glory making fathers and mothers proud
Song eternal carried by the wind
Lilting delightful serenade of creation.
Nature sways to sweetest melody
Seas churn with waves giving homage
Sun, Moon, and stars in chorus
Singing tribute to a loving God
Time began with the song
Music in harmony of love supreme.
Colin Ian Jeffery
The blessings of Easter on you all!
