April, 2019: Happy St George’s Day!
With sincere apologies to our English bloggers and readers – I completely forgot to post a thread to mark the Feast of St George on 23 April – and since we’ve posted Feast Day threads for St Andrew, St Patrick and St David, I decided to copy last year’s St George’s thread… and hope nobody noticed 😀
Comment:
Hopefully, all Catholic Truth readers, bloggers and visitors to this site remembered to offer a prayer for the hierarchy of England on the Feast of the national Patron Saint, imploring all the graces necessary for them to begin the work of restoring the traditional Catholic Faith in their land, which bears the beautiful title of “Dowry of Mary”.
Belated Feast Day greetings to one and all!Â
St George of England, pray for us!  Â

It was the anniversary of the deaths of Shakespeare and Cervantes too~
Goodness, is there no end to my negligence! Utterly sincere apologies!
I thought that, to make up for my negligence in belatedly posting this tribute to St George, I would try to find something in the news about England to kick start the conversation.
I found this story of the conversion of a young man, 17, who was received into the Church last week – which would normally be very good news.

However, read how he was “prepared” – the RCIA course… then notice, those of you who are on Twitter, that he can be contacted by that means. Hint, hint, someone or ten of you may like to send him the link to this thread, so that we can between us inform him that he has not, sadly, be well formed in the Faith of our Fathers. Far from it.
While at the same time, we ask St George to intercede for him to well and truly “see the light” of authentic Catholic Tradition!
Belated Happy Feast day everyone!
PS I realised too late that the video we used last year has been removed. I have therefore replaced it with a short video – not sure how accurate it is but no doubt our English bloggers will soon tell me if it contains errors.
Today is the 25th April and here in Australia there is no thought of St George. We are too taken up with our remembrances of the battle of Gallipoli in WW I. Today is ANZAC Day and quite large numbers have taken themselves off to Turkey for the remembrances of that battle and the losses of Australian and New Zealand troops in that disaster. It is a public holiday here. Today is a commemoration of the coming of age of our two countries.
John,
It’s not actually the Feast of St George here either – as I said in my introduction, I’m afraid I completely forgot to post this thread on the actual Feast, so this is a belated tribute. Of course, if more was made of the national English saint in the UK, I would have remembered, she said, clinging at that particular straw… 😀
Thanks for that! I did offer a prayer to St George for poor beleaguered England. But if anyone flew a flag of St George around where I live, they’d be accused of being a neo-Nazi . . .
On a secular note to help England – and the UK – please become a registered supporter of The Brexit Party https://thebrexitparty.org I think it’s worth the £25.
Thank you WF. I do not know how I did it but I am a member of the Brexit party and i did not pay 25 pounds for the membership. I do get notices from them so there is no doubt that i am a member.
I hope St. George is on the case of our peace loving brethren:

Crofterlady,
That is very shocking indeed. I knew they hated the Pope and Vatican but the Buddha as well? That’s a new one on me!
John Rayner, I also joined The Brexit Party and wasn’t asked for £25 either. I also receive their notifications. I do know that it costs £25 to join the Conservative Party.
You can request emails from The Brexit Party and they will send them – which is what John Rayner and CrofterLady have obviously done, but to become a registered supporter, there is an annual fee of £25. Go into the website https://thebrexitparty.org/ and on the home page it says “Become a registered supporter” and underneath a button which says ‘Register Now’. This takes you through to page where you enter your details. It then tells you that the annual membership is £25. Once you’ve done all that, click on ‘Become a Registered Supporter’ at the bottom of that page and it will take you to the payment section. I think you can pay by Paypal or Credit/Debit card. As far as I understand it, unless you have done this, you aren’t a member, just someone who receives their emails.
WF,
I get their emails as a “Registered Supporter” – I wasn’t asked to pay a fee of £25. Maybe there’s a difference between a registered member and supporter but if so I didn’t see it – and no jokes about mean Scots, please and thank you! Not even on a St George’s Day thread!
A short while later – I’m back! Just checked the Brexit Party website and they ‘ve obviously added the £25 fee for registered supporters. It definitely wasn’t there when I registered.
Oh, and, by the way, climate change hasn’t really affected Scotland. We’ve always had weather like this…

Happy St George’s day, however late! I am praying for England – especially for the Westminster Parliament as we approach the EU Parliament elections. Lots of Brexiteers will win, hopefully, to make Brexit happen, however late! LOL!
Happy feast to all Georges in Britain and anywhere else! /
Joyeuse fête à tous les Georges de Grande-Bretagne et d’ailleurs!
Thank you, Lionel, and everyone who contributed to this (belated) Feast Day thread, now closing.
God bless!
