The Brexit Betrayal: The Truth About “Deal or No Deal” Vs The REAL Deal
Below, an extract from the Statement by President Donald Tusk on the draft guidelines on the framework for the future relationship with the UK published on the European Council website on 3 March, 2018…
“…Now, coming to the core of our future economic relationship. During my talks in London last Thursday, and in her speech last Friday, Prime Minister Theresa May confirmed that the UK will leave the Single Market, leave the customs union and leave the jurisdiction of the ECJ (European Court of Justice). Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the only remaining possible model is a free trade agreement. I hope that it will be ambitious and advanced – and we will do our best, as we did with other partners, such as Canada recently – but anyway it will only be a trade agreement.
I propose that we aim for a trade agreement covering all sectors and with zero tariffs on goods. Like other free trade agreements, it should address services. And in fisheries, reciprocal access to fishing waters and resources should be maintained…” Ends.
When Brexiteer MPs have mentioned the above offer in TV interviews, they have been brushed off, the impression given that this is now in the past, was rejected or is no longer available. No need to ask why. We know that the mainstream media, along with the majority of MPs in Parliament do not want to leave the EU and are doing everything in their power to stop Brexit. “STOP BREXIT” was actually the official slogan of the Liberal Democrats in the recent EU elections, with other parties openly campaigning to overturn the 2016 referendum result, albeit hiding behind the demand for a second referendum, confirmatory vote etc.
The level of dishonesty, the machinations being employed, must surely concern anyone considering Brexit through the prism of Christianity. Below, Conservative, Steve Baker MP, who said in media interviews last weekend that he was giving consideration to standing as a candidate in the current leadership election to be the next Conservative leader/Prime Minister, speaks about Donald Tusk’s offer in his resignation speech in Parliament, following his resignation from the Government on the grounds that he was unable to support Theresa May’s Withdrawal Agreement/”deal”.

Given the level of dishonesty, double-speak, and the various machinations being employed to prevent Brexit, isn’t it time for everyone who values truth and integrity, certainly every follower of Christ, to stand full square behind the 2016 vote and insist that the UK Parliament implements Brexit? Christ, remember, said: “Let your ‘yes’ be ‘yes’ and your ‘no’ be ‘no’ – everything else comes from the Evil One” (Matthew 5:37).
17.4 people across the UK said YES to leaving the UK, despite huge pressure from the Government to vote to remain, and subsequent polls and interviews reveal that our YES meant YES notwithstanding attempts to rig and/or interpret results to show the opposite. So how are we to interpret the fact that Donald Tusk’s above offer was not explored by the UK negotiating team, alongside the fact that the remainer lobby continues to speak about the impossibility of being able to agree a “deal”? What’s going on? And should we all be praying that Steve Baker puts his name forward for the leadership / premiership, since he would, more likely than not, hold the powers-that-be in the EU to that offer?
Note: as always in Brexit discussions, our concern is not with the various political parties and their policies, or with the voting records of individual MPs, but focuses purely on the issues surrounding Brexit. Regular bloggers and readers will know that I am apolitical in that, for a long time now, I have been forced to spoil my voting paper (by writing a note to the effect that I cannot support the Godless laws introduced/supported by all of the above) because all UK political parties have supported the introduction of laws which contradict God’s moral law and so, in conscience, I am unable to vote for any of them. I voted for The Brexit Party in the EU elections purely on the Brexit ticket.

I think that’s a very important point about looking at the whole Brexit debacle through the prism of Christianity and where that leads. It certainly can’t lead anyone to support liars and devious attempts to overturn the referendum.
Steve Baker isn’t in the leadership line-up but it would be interesting to hear his pitch if he does stand. I think it’s really good that there are so many names going forward because that makes it more likely that we’ll get a committed Brexiteer, not someone with the agenda to compromise.
I saw a clip of a video with Nicola Sturgeon shouting that the 48% who voted to remain are being ignored – yet she ignores the million Scots who voted to leave; she is such a hypocrite. Whoever becomes the next prime minister has to be straight talking, and say that the losers don’t usually get concessions. You win or lose. That’s the reality of it and someone needs to make that clear, hopefully whoever is the next PM will say that and point out that not everything can be up for compromise. Sometimes, people just have to accept a situation and if you voted to remain in the EU you need to accept that we’re leaving. I actually think that would go down well with the public, as most people just want the thing over and done with and everyone appreciates strong leadership.

About seeing Brexit through the “prism of Christianity” – at first I wasn’t too comfortable with that since I know good people who voted remain in good faith, but the more I think of the duplicity in Parliament and think about why the MPs are so determined to keep us in, and knowing that the EU is notorious for its corruption and its accounts haven’t been signed off in years, I have started to understand that there is a definite case for Christians to support the exit.

Fair point about the well-intentioned people who voted to remain, and in my (naturally limited) experience, I can honestly say that the people I know who voted to remain are not still campaigning for that. They are thoroughly fed up with all the wrangling and just want “to get on with it”, which is the comment we hear most often in news reports and documentaries, from both Leave and Remain voters.
It’s the remainer MPs and some other public figures, such as the business woman Gina Millar, who set out to keep the possibility of remaining in the EU alive and kicking.

The one I hope doesn’t stand is Philip Hammond. I think he would frustrate the process and is the male Theresa May!
I am disgusted that more hasn’t ben made of the Donald Tusk offer – that is disingenuous.
On the Muslim LGBT Lessons thread just now, I read a newspaper report which quotes Esther McVey MP who is one of the leadership candidates, saying she believes it’s for the parents to decide if their children should be given LGBT lessons or not, speaking about the Birmingham protests by Muslim parents, so – and I know it’s not about other issues, just Brexit – I would hope to see her succeed in the leadership race because she’s also very strong on Brexit. She is the only one, as far as I know, who says we shouldn’t go near the EU now, they don’t want to reopen the deal, so just leave on “no deal”.
I did watch the Steve Baker speech in the video above and he looks very promising as well, so either/or – as long as we get out of the EU, I’m not too fussed about who the leader is.

I am really appalled that the free trade over from the EU has been airbrushed out of the discussions – and dismissed any time it is mentioned. That’s truly dishonest.
I also agree about Esther McVey; when I saw her interviewed on Sky after her resignation and later (last week) after her name was put forward for the leadership, I was impressed with her straightforwardness.
So, either Esther or Steve Baker would, in my view, make excellent PMs.
Whoever wins will need to have a strong character to withstand all the pressures from their fellow MPs and the EU negotiators.
We really ought to pray for a speedy and satisfactory resolution to all of this.

Well, nobody can be in any doubt now that the EU project is spiralling into a United States of Europe with its own army and probably police force. It really didn’t take long for them to get from a trading bloc to a political union with its own parliament and president. I wish the remainers would wake up and smell the coffee, before it’s too late.
The very fact that there are still MPs campaigning to “stop Brexit” shows that they are anti-democratic. There should be no such thing as a “remainer” at this stage.
I don’t know anything much about the leadership candidates but I did warm to Steve Baker giving his resignation speech. It will be interesting to see if he puts his name forward. If so, I think he’d be in with a good chance.

As I have said before, I don’t get a vote in this issue…and why should I anyway…I left Britain over 40 years ago. But I still CARE anyway. I just wish that the ‘no deal’ leave is the result and happens quickly.

I remember coming across that ideology some years ago, and when I tried to discuss the implications of it, I was called mad and a conspiracy theorist! It was early days days then, more or less, but this foul anti God agenda has galloped on and is now in our front rooms! Thanks for bringing it back to our attention.

There are some surprises in there – on the good side, Andrea Leadsom is pro-life, but Esther McVey is pro-abortion. that is very disappointing, as I thought she’d made a good PM and get us out of the EU. Now, I’m not so sure.
