Extinction Rebellion: Priest Protester Making An Idiot of Himself – Clown!

In case you think this is a one-off maverick – think again. His Order is fully behind him – click here
I emailed via the Order’s website as follows but, as ever, I’m not holding my breath for a reply. After all, as one friend said, these folk are never going to be taking part in pro-life protests – they won’t want humans polluting the planet. Clowns.
MY EMAIL VIA THE PASSIONISTS’ WEBSITE
From the Editor, Catholic Truth…
I am preparing to launch a blog discussion about the priest who participated in the extinction rebellion protest atop a train, so in the interests of fairness and balance, I wanted to check if and when this same priest has ever participated in any pro-life gathering or are there copies of letters you may be able to provide where he has written to MPs etc. on the subject of the murder of unborn babies or any other moral issue.
Also, is he aware of the letter sent by 500 climate scientists to the UN offering evidence to prove that there is NO climate emergency.
I look forward to your early reply.
Thank you [Ends].
Comments invited…
…because, having watched that idiot on the news (I assume it is the same idiot who was pulled from the train)* I am, frankly, speechless that he is a priest. Over to you!
* As corrected below in the comments, this is not the case. The protester pulled by the commuters from the top of the train was yet another idiot, at another station. I remain speechless, however, that any priest would behave in such a juvenile manner. Clown.

What a coincidence, before I was converted to tradition I considered a Passionist vocation and I was in touch with Fr Newell. I also met a Passionist vocations director. I asked him if I could learn to say the TLM if I pursued a priestly vocation with the order. He said the order wouldn’t teach me itself, but would prevent me. Also, he jokingly said the TLM was an occasion of sin, as if a priest omitted something in the Mass, it was classed as a sin.
Fr Newell said I should consider a vocation with the Oratorians.
“Idiot” and “clown” are exactly the right words to describe this priest. What a disgrace he is.
Catholic Convert 1, you made a narrow escape there. The Passionists used to be a wonderful Order, did fantastic work giving retreats, but look at them now. Fools!
I think this is interesting – one of the rebels admitting the train protest was an own goal.
Given that these trains are electric i.e. “green”! they really are a bunch of clowns.
MM
That point about the trains being electric etc has been made in the news interviews that I’ve seen. Talk about idiocy, with bells on…
And there’s supposed to be a shortage of priests! Mind you, there’s no shortage of this kind. In fact, there’s a surplus of at least one and he should be ordered to WALK to the nearest Job Centre to save his, so-called, carbon footprint.
This discussion is really interesting – calls the climate change scare “a massive lie” – you just don’t get the facts or any alternative view on the mainstream media.
Josephine,
Thank you for that – as always, Brendan O’Neill is on the button. He is a Brexiteer, as well, frequently appearing on news programmes, so he gets double brownie points today!
Margaret Mary,
And to think that the Passionists produced such holy priests as St. Charles of Mount Argus. Now he, as uneducated as he was, would put the Pope in his place.
CC,
One of my most precious memories from my childhood and youth, is the parish retreats we used to have, delivered by the Passionists (I was baptised by one of them in the Passionist church in Glasgow).
One week the church was packed with men and the next week it was the women’s week. The sermons were thunderous – there was standing room only every time.
Then, during the day, we would see the Passionists out in their habits, walking the streets, handing out holy pictures to all and sundry, talking to people.
How they have now turned out is just beyond sad.
It’s very interesting as after reading the inspirational story of Blessed Fr. Dominic Barberi who was instrumental in the conversion of St. John Henry Newman, I looked up The Passionists in the UK online. Sure enough I came upon the webpage of the featured priest in involved in the climate change protest. I think this was last year.
It was extremely depressing and dispiriting, as it was very clear from that webpage that The Passionists were no longer inspiring evangelists. There was nothing about the radical and life-giving life in Christ on that page. Instead there was plenty of trendy political posturing. I think this priest had invited men who were illegal immigrants to the country to stay with him and his small community. While we should always have compassion for those struggling to survive in this world, there was absolutely zero interest in reaching out to his fellow Brits to offer them Christ.
I am a convert from atheism. If I had met a man such as this priest how would I have ever made my way to Christ? I really wanted to write to him and ask him how he thought his life was anything to do with The Passionist charism and would he PLEASE serve the people who desperately need to know about the love of God who walk the streets of London in ignorance but I was concerned my letter might lack charity and never sent it.
These men (and many nuns) are deceiving themselves if they think what they are doing is living a life like Christ. They are just focused on a non life-giving narrow 70s style politics. Nothing about this is declaring Christ to the world.
Catherine N,
You put your finger on the most serious aspect of this scandal – that priests such as these modernist Passionists are not only failing to win souls for Christ, but they are positively driving them away. Serious, thinking people are not drawn to this sort of extremist behaviour – bad enough in politics, but in matters of faith it is particularly unattractive.
Don’t ever think, though, that to write a letter or in any other reasonable way to seek to correct such clergy and nuns, is to lack charity. It is the very opposite. It is so easy for us all to fall into the error of false charity.
We can all recognise poor parenting when we see it; when we observe a mother or father indulging a difficult or selfish child, to avoid correcting him/her. They are doing the child no favours – on the contrary they are causing harm to the child in his/her development, in his/her comprehension of right and wrong and failing to educate the child to recognise any damage which he/she may be doing to his/her self and to others.
Fraternal correction is, in fact, one of the spiritual works of mercy. St Thomas Aquinas speaks of it as follows:
[F]raternal correction properly so called, is directed to the amendment of the sinner. Now to do away with anyone’s evil is the same as to procure his good: and to procure a person’s good is an act of charity, whereby we wish and do our friend well (Summa Theologica II, IIae, 33.1)
Anyway, thank you for sharing your experience with us and it is wonderful to know that you have managed to find your way from atheism to the one, true, Church of Christ: through all of the scandals afflicting the Mystical Body of Christ today, God has seen to it that you got here in the end! Including to this blog – welcome!
(Just out of idle curiosity, I searched for “train to nowhere,” a fitting metaphor for this climate change fraud, and found this):

RCA Victor,
You look so young in that photo! Hope you had breakdown coverage 😀
Catherine N,
Welcome to the tribe, as they say, of believers! I hope you have found Tradition as a convert….
I think the real reason so many clergy are jumping on board this train to nowhere is that they are hungry for religion, hungry for a messianic cause – and they certainly won’t find either, generally speaking, in the Novus Ordo Church. Religion and the sense of the sacred have been almost completely obscured in the Conciliar Church by desacralization (and I include Protestantization in that).
Oh, and the other reason? Money.
Dear Ed,
Might I be so bold as to ask how old you are? Did the Passionists act as you said into the 1960s, presumably your childhood?
CC,
Of course you may be so bold as to ask my age – No problem.
I’m 29. Have been for a while.
And if there’s one thing I’ve learned in my 29 years on this earth, it’s that it’s OK to lie about your age 😀
In order to work out the dates of such parish retreats as I described, you merely need to remember that the new Mass came into parishes in 1969 or thereabouts, so there were no such thunderous sermons heard anywhere after that. By that time, the powers-that-be had realised that everyone is going to Heaven, so there was no need to remind us all of the dangers of sin – let alone Hell. After 1969 or thereabouts, a “retreat” simply meant sitting around a coffee table praying for justice in the Third World.
I hope that helps…
Editor,
In this dark Conciliar age, I think “retreat” could have an additional meaning: a retreat from Tradition into apostasy.
Gee, that’s about the only buzzword the Vatican has failed to promote so far: The New Apostasy…..
This priest has got form as long as your arm. He is a founder member of the London Catholic Worker community (www.londoncatholicworker.org) – which is another eco/socialist-Marxist outfit.
In answer to Catholic Convert 1’s initial comment: “Fr Newell said I should consider a vocation with the Oratorians”. Well at least he got that much right. Far better than joining today’s Passionists and losing the Faith entirely. Blessed Dominic Barberi, pray for the Passionists.
Apropos climate change nonsense, at the risk of incurring the wrath of the attention-seeking truant Greta Thunberg, I post this 12 min video for people to digest: https://www.lifesitenews.com/opinion/new-slam-dunk-video-exposes-global-warming-fraud-in-12-minutes?utm_source=LifeSiteNews.com&utm_campaign=da50c3f9ff-Daily%2520Headlines%2520-%2520World_COPY_600&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_12387f0e3e-da50c3f9ff-403629389
WF,
Not having a maths/scientific mind, I’ll need to look at that video in the link again… in slow motion!
I think that priest is a real joke. I’m not sure he’s the one who was pulled from the top of the train though, because that happened in London and I think he’s in Birmingham. He’s still an idiot for going on top of a very clean, electric “green” train to protest climate change, LOL!
I found a link to the letter from the 500 scientists who wrote a letter to the UN
https://www.aei.org/carpe-diem/there-is-no-climate-emergency-say-500-experts-in-letter-to-the-united-nations/
It was on the same day that Greta Thunberg addressed the UN, so it’s interesting that the mainstream broadcasting media didn’t mention it.
Nicky,
Thank you for posting that letter. Very useful to keep on the record.
No. The one who was pulled from the top of the train in London was Mark Ovland. Oddly enough, I became aware of his name some while back, in connection with some research I did on a neighbour (also a buddhist eco-warrior) that I had personally experienced problems with a while back. While these people claim to love humanity, in truth, they hate it and love only themselves and their own warped beliefs.
WF,
That’s interesting – I did wonder if there had been more than one idiot on top of a train – who DOES that? And the picture of this priest is different from the clown who was pulled from the train by the naturally frustrated commuters. It’s great that the tide is turning on these idiots. About time.
I must be living under a rock: this is the first time I’ve heard the expression “Extinction Rebellion.”
This useful idiot priest should go to work for the USCCB, which is all in for climate change – and open borders to boot. Hint: they receive millions of Federal dollars annually to re-settle “refugees.”
RCA Victor,
You gotta be kidding me! They are a bunch of utter idiots, who have just about taken over London where they sit in the middle of roads, climb on top of trains and chain themselves to this and that, all in the cause of building a greener world. That is, when they’re not throwing red stuff, fake blood, onto government buildings to make some obscure point. I went off just now to see if I could find a video of that, but can’t find one. Instead, I found this interview on LBC Radio (Leading the British Conversation – based in London) in which the Extinction Rebellion organiser being interviewed admits that protesters are paid. Nigel Farage, interviewer, wipes the floor with her…
Editor,
Idiots of a feather seem to flock together. Apparently the leftists have all decided that “disruption” is the preferred tactic these days. On this side of the pond, one of the most dangerous of these “disruption” groups is Antifa, which is short for “Antifascist” (because, dontcha know, President Trump is a fascist!) Except that they actually push the violence envelope as far as they can. They’ve also been categorized as a domestic terrorist group.
Antifascists acting like fascist thugs – no problem!
RCA Victor,
LOL! I wondered what “Antifa” meant when I heard it on TV. Now I know. That’s really funny.
Dear Editor,
Yes these so called environMENTALists, are a sick joke.
But is it any wonder we have priests -shall we say- on board with this nonsense when our Pope is a fully paid up member of the Marxist scam.
Btw can I mention the petition by prominent Catholics (and others) over at WMBriggs statistician to the stars ?
I do not know how to do links on the web so maybe you would be kind enough to link the e-mail I sent you recently and allow some of your contributors the opportunity to sign it.
Regards and keep up the good fight.
Patrick,
When your email arrives, I’ll certainly check it out. Thank you
Patrick,
Are you talking about this?
https://wmbriggs.com/post/28307/
Yes thank you RCAVictor,
That’s the one. It it lovely to know that the majority of the websites I visit and contribute to on the great scientific fraud (man made global warming), are run by Catholics.
Anthony Watts at WUWT, William Briggs at wm briggs statistician to the stars,
Climate Audit and Climate Sceptic for instance.
We are all fighting against the satanic globalist who support abortion and dragging us back to the dark ages to control the weather.
Chief of which is the Vatican under its current management.
Patrick,
For the record, I have not received any email from you containing that link.
Thank you editor, senior moments seem to come in bunches nowadays – like busses!
Mea culpa – I did not include it to your good self. But I have sent it to my Bishop but it think he is in the Amazon or Googleland or somewhere.
My dad, a staunch Socialist and Atheist regularly rails at the Extinction Rebellion protesters using words that are largely unquotable, but the gist is that ‘why on earth aren’t they at work’ and ‘how are they affording to lose a day’s pay…middle class big girl’s blouses’.
CC,
Tell your dad that they can afford to take time off work because the powers-that-be behind Extinction Rebellion are paying them for their services.
The Yellow Brick Road is getting a little more complicated for “St. Greta”:
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/10/19/oil-and-gas-workers-in-canada-counter-greta-thunberg-dont-kill-our-jobs-we-power-your-cell-phone/
RCA Victor,
That report is extremely interesting. And not least to discover just how much school Mzzzz Thunberg is planning to miss in the months ahead. This will all come back to haunt her when she finds she hasn’t an academic certificate to her name and can’t even get a thumbs-up award for excellent school attendance!
But, silly me. That won’t matter, will it, since in 11 years time, when the world is ending, she’d only be 27 anyway. It’s a wonder her youth fan club striking on the Fridays for Future protests don’t rename them No More School At All Since We’ve No Future Anyway protests… are these people for real? Sheer madness.
These so-called “Christians” who are so worried about the plight of the earth have been deadly silent about the plight of millions of babies who have been murdered for many decades and whose blood calls out to Heaven for vengeance. Their hypocrisy is absolutely sickening.
I was thrilled to see the middle class “warriors” pulled from the train by people trying to get to work.
What misguided priorities this priest has. His time would have been more fruitfully spent in prayer, or sitting in a confessional booth, instead of acting the goat and disrupting the travel of ordinary people going about their business.
I suppose it is another example of the great disorientation of our age, where clergy become more concerned about environmental myths, than they do about souls.
Incidentally, yhese kind of clownish tactics are in fact counterproductive form the earth worshippers anyway – people are more likely to shun public transport in favour of cars, if it means they can avoid some rent-an-idiot disrupting their travel.
It seems there is quite another sort of “extinction rebellion” afoot: this one a rebellion against the extinction of the Church being engineered by apostate clergy:
https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/breaking-controversial-amazon-synod-statue-siezed-and-thrown-into-the-tiber-river-full-video
RCA Victor,
Now THAT’S a rebellion worth supporting! Brilliant – if that doesn’t get the message across to Papa Francis, nothing will.
Editor,
Yes, and right up there with Fr. Kalchik in Chicago burning that rainbow flag earlier this year (and then having to go into hiding because of Cardinal Cupich…)
RCA Victor,
Gosh! How did I miss that news about Fr Kalchik? WOW! What a star! If you have a link to that news and an email address for Father, I’d love to let him know that we love him to bits!
Editor,
Here’s the story: https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/chicago-priest-defies-cardinal-cupich-burns-rainbow-flag-as-an-act-of-exorc
I don’t have an email address for Father, but since he is in hiding he probably doesn’t want that address spread around anyway. However, you could always email the McCarrick protege Card. Cupich and let him know how much you admire Father for his bravery!
RCA Victor,
Done and dusted. Here’s my email to Cardinal Cupich, just sent:
Cardinal Cupich,
Excuse my failure to salute you with the courtesy title for your office, but I no longer automatically use such titles. I am aware that there is a distinction to be made between respecting the office and respecting the person, but it is getting more and more difficult to make this distinction, so I look at each title on a case-by-case basis.
In your case, having belatedly read about your disapproval of Fr. Paul Kalchik of Chicago’s Resurrection Parish who is still, I believe, in hiding because of his wholly Catholic opposition to the evil of homosexual activity, I have chosen to salute you in name only.
I realise that the incident where Father burned the rainbow flag (a biblical symbol stolen by the homosexual lobby) took place a year ago, but somehow, I missed it.
One of our American bloggers recently mentioned it on our blog and since he is unable to provide an email address for this courageous priest, I decided to write to you instead to tell you of our readers’ admiration for Fr Kalchik’s conscientious action in burning – with prayers of exorcism – what he rightly describes as propaganda (for evil) which has no place in any Catholic Church.
For your interest, you are mentioned by me, in the front page lead report of the March, 2019 edition of our newsletter, which you can read online at the following link.
http://www.catholictruthscotland.com/MARCHnewsletter19.pdf
Be assured of the prayers of some very concerned Catholics in Scotland, shocked that any priest could incur the wrath of his bishop where he is due, instead, warm praise and gratitude for upholding the moral law. This is clearly, an example of that “diabolical disorientation” of which Our Lady warned at Fatima. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us!

Actually, I realised too late that the Cardinal is not “mentioned by me” in our March newsletter, but I was quoting from Archbishop Vigano’s testimony. Still, maybe if I’d said that, he wouldn’t feel compelled to click ont he link whereas, hopefully, he will do so and be reminded of his scandalous behaviour as reported by Archbishop Vigano.
Editor,
Well done and dusted….!
I went into my local novus ordo church 7 days ago and found a bunch of Extinction Rebellion leaflets about a protest in our town for Thursday October 17th. They had clearly been left there with the permission of the parish priest. I took them all home and burned the lot.
Greg,
11 out of 10! Well done!
This is a laugh – Piers Morgan showing up the hypocrisy of the Extinction Rebellion protesters. LOL!
