ENGLAND, November 4, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) – The Catholic diocese of Salford in north-west England has become the latest of multiple Catholic dioceses around the United Kingdom to begin hosting “LGBT+ Masses.” In Salford, as in the other dioceses, the LGBT+ Masses enjoy the support of their respective local bishops.
Advertisements for the Masses have become widely available in churches and on various official parish and diocesan websites. Many of these advertisements are emblazoned with the rainbow flag or popular Catholic images such as crosses or the Sacred Heart filled with the rainbow colours. Several of the groups involved in organizing these Masses take part in their local homosexual “pride” events.
In none of the advertisements or official publications about these Masses is the Catholic Church’s authoritative, constant teaching that homosexual sexual acts are inherently sinful made clear…
…This increase in LGBT+ Masses around the country has been welcomed by LGBT+ Catholics Westminster. This group has enjoyed the long-term support of Cardinal Vincent Nichols, who is both their local ordinary and the senior Catholic cleric in England. In March of this year, the group were given privileged seats at a papal audience in St Peter’s Square, Rome, after which they were invited to meet and take photographs with Pope Francis. They were introduced to Pope Francis by Martin Pendergrast, an ex-priest who has been in a civil union with Julian Filochowski, the former head of Cafod, since 2006…
…The diocese of Salford is the latest diocese in England to initiate an LGBT+ Mass — hosting its first such Mass on October 12 at Holy Name Church in Manchester. On Sunday, October 6, Bishop Arnold publicised the Mass on the BBC Radio 4 Sunday morning programme Sounds.
In an email sent to the clergy of his diocese, Bishop Arnold reported his satisfaction with the event:
Thanks, I think, to good planning and organisation, the LGBT Mass went very well, and better than expected. The atmosphere was very good and the comments of people as they left were unanimously encouraging. There were something like 300 people there, a congregation which included family and friends and others who simply came along because they thought it was an important occasion. We must see now what the organisers might want to plan for the future. While it is good to recognise the needs of the group, it is also important not to organise things in such a way as to isolate them from parish life. There were just two voices of dissent present at the Mass and their discourtesy rather bankrupted the value of any statement that they might have wanted to make. My thanks to the Jesuit community who hosted the event at the Holy Name and to all who contributed to the occasion.
In the diocese of Clifton, an “LGBT+ Mass” began in March this year at the parish of St Nicholas of Tolentino in Bristol. The parish website makes clear that the Mass is happening at the request of Bishop Declan Lang, the local ordinary.
“Bishop Declan wishes to express pastoral care and concern for our Catholic LGBT+ community and so has asked St Nicholas of Tolentino Church to celebrate a series of Masses for this community and their friends and family and all who wish to take part.”
The same website also displays an image of a sculpture of Our Lord’s Sacred Heart, crowned with a cross, and painted in the colours of the rainbow flag. The parish promotes its Mass with a poster that includes an image of a cross filled with rainbow colours.
The Masses are also being advertised on the official diocesan website.

On a recent thread, we discussed the fact that England has “many” exorcists. Little wonder. The English hierarchy has become more and more brazen in its support for the grave LGBT+ sin. The bishops are now openly not merely “tolerating” this evil, but publicly embracing and endorsing it.
Still, with the Pope himself welcoming LGBT lobby groups and participating in pagan worship within the walls of the Vatican, we can’t be too surprised.
Obviously, we need to step up our spiritual efforts – prayer and penance – in order to appease God and win the grace of conversion for all involved but is there anything else we can do? I was originally planning to list the email addresses for the dioceses named here and urging us all to contact each bishop, but I changed my mind. We’ve been there, done that and bought every T shirt in the shop. Beyond, therefore, public “naming” [if not shaming – they’re brazen now] is there anything else we can do to end scandals like these shocking, sacrilegous, if not blasphemous “Masses” – I mean, can they really be Masses?
Don’t be fooled by the way these Masses are pitched as being for “LGBT and families” – that’s a cover. I’ve never seen any Masses advertised for serial killers and families, have you? Or bank robbers and families, have you? No, for whatever reason (and the possibilities are chilling: the American Cardinal, now plain old ‘Mr’, McCarrick springs to mind) these bishops have embraced – as normal and acceptable – the entire range of depraved behaviour and “identities” known euphemistically as LGBT+
In a small act of reparation for the blasphemous use of images of the Sacred Heart, we pray, Jesus Mercy! Mary, Help!

Yes Ed I also read that and put a few of my opinions on LSN but as on here they have to be printable. As far as The Alphabet Mob goes you of course already know my opinions and they’ve just got stronger. Of course am like you I cannot see how these Masses are Valid in the Sight of Almighty God . One actually wonders whether Cardinal Vincent Nichols and Pope Francis have actually understood scripture when reading about Abrahams prayer to save Sodom and Gomorrah. Of course the lovely photo shoot of Francis and James Martin only leads to more letters on the Alphabet being added to the LGBTQ2WXYZ list . As for shaming them I actually think that’s impossible. Your concluding observation is highly pertinent. Why, indeed, is this widespread sin never mentioned in sermons? In some cases, of course, it will be the clergy’s fear of reprisals (the LGBT+ lobby is not the gentlest, most sensitive group in the world) but in too many cases it will be because either they see nothing wrong with it and/or may even be involved in it themselves.
One of the shocking things about these “Masses”, is the abuse of devotional images, e.g. of the Sacred Heart but also the abuse of important dates in the Church’s calendar, such as All Souls Day.

This bishop has turned a day of prayer for the suffering souls in Purgatory into his version of Poppy Day, to remember (nothing more) the souls of those who lost their lives in war.
There is just nothing remotely resembling Catholic Faith in these bishops.
If there is even ONE bishop who is appalled at this, he needs to speak up without delay. These annual scandals are worsening. Here’s a thought, from Archbishop Vigano, which should settle the matter for any bishop – north or south of the border – who is hesitant about speaking out, or who is continuing to turn a blind eye so that he doesn’t have to speak out. The perversion of Catholic devotional images in Catholic churches to support the “rainbow” crowd is no different from putting pagan fertility idols there – both are the abomination of desolation, and both are not only the sign of apostasy, but of the complete surrender to the world and its depravity.
It appears that England needs another Mr. Alexander Tschugguel, he of the fertility idol Tiber-Toss, to get into these desecrated churches and remove any images and literature promoting this depravity. Unfortunately for the Church, the English seem to be either well asleep, or cowed into silence.

Somewhere in the LifeSite report there is a quote from one of the bishops referencing some objectors at one of the Masses. He made a comment to the effect that they were ineffective due to their methodology which probably means it wasn’t a silent protest. Those justifying this evil will always twist everything to suit their own evil ends. *
What we need, anyway, is not one or two or even five people protesting – we need huge crowds; the entire congregations in these places should be rising up in protest. But will they? Sure, they will. About ten years after Hell freezes over.
I think it’s called “moral cowardice”. They’ll stand up to protest against a perceived injustice like being paid less for their job than the gal/guy at the next desk, but that is about the extent of their “morality”.

We can take it as read that their “discourtesy” amounted to a statement about the Church’s unchangeable teaching on homosexuality and the evil of permitting such a “Mass” to take place. I agree on the “discourtesy” comment. No doubt this spineless bishop would have accused Our Lord of “discourtesy” for driving the money-changers out of the Temple….because he (spineless bishop) was in cahoots with said money-changers.
As for huge crowds, that’s not going to happen – it should have happened in Rome as well after the idol-worship, but didn’t – so I’m back to calling for solitary heroes to remove blasphemous rainbow images from parishes that have been defiled by them. This has been a long term goal between the ‘LGBT’ brigade and some of the bishops – not all of them, but a fair few. Don’t forget (then) Bishop Longley’s support for the scandalous Soho Masses. The Christian Order editorials are always brilliant. Thanks for posting those links, which will help me to refresh my memory on them.
Notice that the Masses are for ‘LGBT’ and families and friends etc, etc, etc (including non-Christian ‘LGBT’ activists who are drafted in to fill the pews – even if only for once a month – they just couldn’t get the numbers to attend once a week . . . ). They have to pack them out with complicit family members and non-Catholic friends / supporters / ’LGBT’ activists to make it look as though there is a pastoral necessity for these Masses. If it just came down to people who were actually afflicted with same-sex attraction, who for some odd reason wanted to practise homosexual acts and Catholicism as well, they wouldn’t be able to fill the front row of the pews, let alone the church. It’s a scam.

Reflecting on the claim by exorcists that the streets of London are “full of demons”, we need look no further than this news about multiple LGBT+ “Masses” for proof.
This latest news, that one of those pro-“gay” friendly bishops should head the Catholic Church’s Dept for Marriage & Family Life in E & W, is beyond belief, and then some.
Editors commentary under the article is spot on, querying where are the special masses to pander to other kinds of sinner?
“Mass for adulterers and their families”– the Bishop kindly requests that spouses refrain from screaming accusations and abuse at one another during the service. Mistresses should not attend, but instead are welcome with their boyfriends at the “Bit on the side” mass (remember that the boyfriend’s wife should be kept in the dark about this).
“Mass for thieves and their families” – please note that attendance is at your own risk. CCTV will be in operation, however the Diocese cannot be held liable for any items which may go missing during the service.
“Mass for murderers and their surviving family” – worshippers should enter via the metal-detector entrance and submit to a body search before entering the nave. Stab-proof vests will be available next to the hymn books – please do not remove either resource from the Church.
No doubt these events are motivated chiefly by a desire to render Church teaching on homosexual behaviour redundant, but also due to the idiotic modern ‘pastoral’ approach of ignoring/tolerating grave sin and somehow considering that as being a solution to it (instead of seeking a transformation of the sinners life).
It is sad to see such idiocy / derelicition of duty from Catholic Bishops, but it is open confirmation as to how novus ordo Catholicism is essentially protestantism in all but name. We have known that for some time, but it should be obvious to even the blind by now.
Whether motivated by malice or incompetence, the Bishops are no doubt falling into the same trap as their protestant brethren: the belief that pandering to the world will translate into an explosion of popularity.
In fact, it will mean the precise opposite, as the Church becomes increasingly irrelevant and as others abandon the faith, aggrieved because some are given a free pass to openly indulge sin, whereas they are not. (at least, not until they form a protest group and claim to feel as outsiders in the Church).
I forgot to say, how deeply unsurprising it is, to see that most corrupt and malign body of clergy – the Jesuits – again involved the spread of these events.

I think I’ve given up on the theory that popularity has anything to do with the bishops’ surrender. I think it has to do with fear: presently, fear not only of the LGBS orchestrated “outrage,” but also fear of the “Dictator Pope.” Perhaps also fear of blackmail from their fellow homosexuals.
And how sad it is, that with taking on a specific title (beyond the mass of the day), that’s what the mass becomes “about”.
Whereas any mass should only ever be about what the mass fundamentally is – the bloodless renewal of the sacrifice of calvary.

Clearly you were never taught that a mass is simply a lump of some substance. We used to have a mass of manure at the bottom of our garden. In Physics mass multipled by acceleration =power.
However, we Catholics celebrate Holy Mass which is something entirely different. That is why we always, ALWAYS use a CAPITAL letter M for the Holy Mass so as not to miix it up with the mass at the bottom of the garden!

I’m sure it is not your intention, but your response to Gabriel Syme’s use of the small “m” for Mass might well be interpreted as unnecessarily rude, an unnecessary rebuke for the following reasons.
In fact, using the small “m” for Mass is a widespread custom in parish bulletins these days, and between that and the ignorant use of “RC” to describe the Catholic Church, it can be annoying, I accept.
However, to correct, even apparently rebuke, a blogger who has often told us of his utterly impoverished-to-the point-of-being-negligible “Catholic education”, is rather inconsiderate to put it mildly.
Given Gabriel Syme’s revelation that he was “in my mid-30s, before first learning that the mass actually represents something.” I would have hoped for a rather more tactful response from you.
Still, now we all know that you studied physics (the capital P, while permitted, is not necessary unless at the start of a sentence or as the title of a course. We don’t mind though…)

You are right that it is common in Church literature today to see uncapitalised “mass” – but this is something bearing in mind so as not to fall into the same habit.

I’ve probably posted this before, but I think it bears repeating that this LGBT insanity (which I call LGBS) is nothing but the latest camouflage for international Communism. Originally, they donned the guise of fighting for the working man (“Dictatorship of the Proletariat”) to militate for their goal of a thought-controlled police state, but the misery and mass death in the USSR couldn’t be hidden forever.
More recently they ignited the “feminist” fires under Western Civilization (which are the exact opposite of femininity); then the pro-homosexual fires (i.e.bestiality under the guise of compassion), and now the gender theory fires (same guise), which have moved them from bestiality to pure insanity. Oh, and let’s not forget the climate change/end of the world fires: the guise of prophet.
But the goal all along has been the same, as described so well in 1984. And the more ludicrous, apparently, the better with which to intimidate those who resist. Now, of course, we’re well past the intimidation phase: now we’re being bludgeoned with threats of fines, jail and economic sanctions for failing to cast incense at the god of Communism.

Your description of “this LGBT insanity” reminds me of the following discussion on Good Morning Britain where Piers Morgan interviews a nut. I can’t say whether “they” is a male or a female “nut” for reasons which “they” will explain “themself” … Somehow, though, this nut speaks in such a way as to give the impression that it’s Piers (speaking for the majority sane population) who is the nut. Priceless.
It is a sobering thought, though, to recall that this nut would be welcomed by any and all of the bishops named in the above Lifesitenews report, to participate in the “liturgy” and it would be any “dissenters” in the congregation who would be reprimanded and accused of lack of charity… What was that phrase again… Oh, yes, “diabolical disorientation”. I also noticed how calm and reasonable she was, but I suspected she was on drugs, or perhaps mushrooms – a favorite mental health (sic) crutch among the new age crowd these days.
I also wondered how she could explain that this baby was the result of intimacy between a male and a female, with the use of appropriate biological equipment – the only way, in fact, a human baby could be created, except, I suppose, for IVF, which still requires “input” from the male (but not from “menstruating” males).
This woman would probably be ecstatically happy living in a commune, somewhere deep in the woods, with her multiple “partners” and “genderless” offspring, never to be heard from again. And yet, if you asked Cardinal Nichols for a weekly Traditional Latin Mass in his cathedral – on a Sunday – the answer would be a firm ‘no’. Oh I know they have the TLM on a 2nd Saturday of the month or some other weird day, hidden away in a side chapel, plus they also let the LMS have their annual Mass there, but this is just window dressing. Any perversion, any outrage, any novelty goes these days – but the TLM? Not on your life! +Nichols won’t always be around of course, but then I heard that +John Arnold was tipped as the next incumbent for Westminster. God help us.

I am appalled that the Archbishop of Liverpool and his education people are willing to lie to cover up the use of the No Outsiders LGBT+ programme in schools. Giving it another name is completely cunning. If any more evidence was needed that the English hierarchy is “steeped in evil”, this is it.
