Some Light Relief: the Beauty of Childish Innocence in an Anti-Child Society…

Comment:

The mother of the two year old in the above video, late for work, rushed off, forgetting to give her son a kiss.  He is furious and although he is not yet in command of an extensive vocabulary, he certainly makes himself understood.

The father (heard in the video) posted the clip on Facebook and it made some of the news broadcasts in the USA.  One commentator assured viewers that when his mother returned home from work “he got all the love!”

Given all the preparation for, and analysis of, our General Election, it’s time for a little light relief, so enjoy the above clip, and feel free to share your own favourite stories, funny videos etc. about children.

That’s funny. What a lovely wee boy. It’s so touching that he is so mad about not getting a kiss from his mother. I have watched it several times now – I think I’m becoming addicted, LOL!

Me, too, LOL! I keep clicking to watch again and again. I’ll get nothing else done, at this rate!

Such a gorgeous wee boy! I haven’t laughed as much in ages – I watched the clip over and over again. I am like Josephine – getting addicted!

We definitely do need some light relief after those intense weeks of General Election propaganda!

I love that little boy! He is so adorable! I bet his mother was mortified when she realised she’d made the TV news, LOL!

As for becoming addicted – I doubt if anyone can watch that clip only once! It’s fantastic to see such innocence.

      Nicky,

That struck me, too – imagine coming home from work to see yourself on the news like that! LOL!

Innocent children are so entertaining because they speak the truth without any guile in them.

The boy in the video doesn’t hide his annoyance with his mother, just shoots from the hip. He’s a real wee character. So, loveable. I’m sure his parents had a great laugh over the whole thing.

I agree with Nicky – we definitely needed this light relief! More please!

What a beautiful child and as others say, it’s addictive watching! I laughed and laughed every time I watched.

I have a couple of “kid’s joke” which always make me smile, so I thought I’d post them here:

A worried looking little boy told his nursery school teacher that only one pair of boots was left in the classroom and they weren’t his. The teacher searched and searched, but she couldn’t find any other boots. “Are you sure these boots aren’t yours?” – she asked. “I’m sure,” the little boy replied. “Mine had snow on them.”

    Also, this one:

My little sister is only in nursery school and she can spell her name backwards and forwards.
    Really? What’s her name? Anna.

    LOL!

      Lily,

Your jokes remind me of an incident some years ago with one of my nephews, who was around 4 years old at the time. Now grown up, he has given me a blanket permission to tell the story when it comes to mind – this is one of those occasions…

I had taken him into a small grocery shop not far from where he lived at the time, and while I was looking at the various shelves (and trying to remember why I had come into the shop in the first place) he disappeared from my sight. I called his name and in due course he came round from, it turned out, the aisle where the sweets were located. He had his hands thrust into his duffle coat pockets, so, thinking he looked guilty, I asked him to empty his pockets.

Aha! He produced two small cream Easter eggs. I knew it! I said we would now go up to the counter and admit to the two ladies serving that he had taken the eggs, was very sorry, wanted to return them and it wouldn’t happen again.

He replied firmly “But I didn’t take them from here!”

I was having none of it and insisted we go to the counter with “our” confession.

At the counter, he showed the ladies the two eggs, but, to my confusion, they pointed to the basket of cream Easter eggs on their counter, which were wrapped in brightly colour paper while his were in brown & beige (a combination which I love, but that’s really irrelevant to this story 😀 )

“They’re not our eggs” said one of the servers, shaking her head, to which my nephew said, turning to me…

“I told you I didn’t take them from here – I took them from Asda!”

The two ladies turned their backs on us (to hide their grins) while I continued to wonder what the heck I’d come in for in the first place…

Milk, as it turned out, in case anyone is interested 😀

    Here’s another joke:

When we were little, grandpa used to have us kids line up in a straight line, shoulder-to-shoulder, and look straight ahead without saying a word for three minutes.

    He called it “elevator practice.”

      RCA Victor,

      Priceless!

I have been wondering if you saw the little boy on the video, reported on the news over there. I’ve seen a couple of the news broadcasts (though couldn’t find them when I looked for one to post) and it was comical to see the news presenters laughing as they reported the story.

I suppose this episode will haunt him for the rest of his life! That’s the problem with Facebook and YouTube!

I loved the video of the small boy angry with his mother! That is just beautiful!

I think at one point he is saying mum didn’t kiss the baby or daddy either – or am I over-analysing?

    It’s a really touching clip – I think I’m another addict, LOL!

No, Laura you are not over-analysing at all. The small boy is definite about his mum not kissing him nor the baby or daddy.

I bet his mother won’t forget this in a hurry. The more I watched the video, the more I laughed. The boy is adorable.

        Theresa Rose,

I agree – the more I watch (and I can’t resist it when I come online!) the more I see him saying that “mama didn’t kiss dadda, baby or me”! So very comical. He is adorable – you’re right.

    Theresa Rose and Laura,

I also think the little boy is saying that daddy and baby didn’t get a kiss either! What a character.

I’d love to have seen the reunion when the mother returned from work!

I came across this lovely video just now – it’s not a comical one but very touching. It’s a baby hearing for the first time (thanks to hearing aids). I think it’s a beautiful video.
