Coronavirus – Political? Really? OR…Conspiracy Theorists Out in Force?

Coronavirus – Political? Really? OR…Conspiracy Theorists Out in Force?

Christopher Ferrara, Fatima Center, writes…

It should have been no surprise to learn that, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, “Democrats are about twice as likely as Republicans to say the coronavirus poses an imminent threat to the United States… And more Democrats than Republicans say they are taking steps to be prepared, including washing their hands more often or limiting their travel plans.”

The political divide over the media-fanned hysteria surrounding COVID-19, shorthand for “coronavirus disease – 2019” (the year in which this particular strain of coronavirus first appeared), reflects prudent skepticism on the part of Republicans. They understand, if only intuitively, that the outbreak of this particular coronavirus — which is only part of the family of coronaviruses that includes the common cold — is being weaponized by the mass media and their partners in the Democrat Party in yet another attempt to bring down the Trump presidency. By provoking mass panic, economic slowdown, and a collapse in the stock market during an election year, the Democrat-Media alliance aims to assist the presidential campaign of Joe Biden, a clearly befuddled, 77-year-old washed-up political hack, who can barely utter two coherent sentences in a row.

Playing on the ignorance and gullibility of the masses, the media trumpet the “rising death toll” from “the coronavirus” — as if there were only one such virus in the world — which now stands at 26 people in the United States, 19 of whom resided in the same elderly living center in the State of Washington. Never mentioned are the 17,000 people who have already died from the common flu during the current flu season, or the annual death toll from the flu, ranging from 12,000 to 60,000 since 2010.

The following information from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) should suffice to show that the effort to depict this virus as a world-threatening plague is but the latest hoax perpetrated by an utterly reckless mainstream media establishment whose one and only story line these days seems to be “Surely, this will be the end of Trump!” Quoth the CDC: “influenza has resulted in between 9 million – 45 million illnesses, between 140,000 – 810,000 hospitalizations and between 12,000 – 61,000 deaths annually since 2010.” Moreover, for the 2019-2020 flu season the CDC has predicted “34,000,000 – 49,000,000 flu illnesses, 16,000,000 – 23,000,000 flu medical visits, 350,000 – 620,000 flu hospitalizations and 20,000 – 52,000 flu deaths.”

That’s in the United States alone. Worldwide, the death toll from influenza averages 646,000 deaths per year.

We have heard quite enough about the 26 U.S. deaths from COVID-19. Let Dr. Drew Pinsky lay this nonsense to rest in the video seen here. The press, he says, “must be held accountable” for the panic it has caused over what is essentially a small addition to an already bad flu season.
Seizing on the panic, Democrat Representative Jackie Speier (D-CA) has declared that Trump must cancel his rallies on account of COVID-19. She made no such demand, however, as to rallies for Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders. And there we have it: the first political virus in world history. It affects only Republican activity!

Now, given the patently leftist orientation of the current pontificate, it likewise should come as no surprise that the Italian bishops and the Vatican have decreed — believe it or not — a total suspension of Masses throughout all of Italy until at least April 3. This aligns with the diktat of Italy’s President Conte that the entire Italian nation is under quarantine and travel restrictions, including the absurd requirement that all cafes, pubs, bars and restaurants close at dusk to avoid “night life” that would supposedly spread a virus no worse than the flu that is being treated as if it were the bubonic plague.

Yet, while the Vatican and the Italian bishops suspend all Masses — which could be offered for an end to the outbreak — even under Conte’s draconian restrictions “‘the markets, shopping centers, and sports centers remain open,’ under certain conditions,” observes the website of the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX). So, in Italy the wheels of commerce grind on while the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is prohibited. “This fact,” says the SSPX, “sadly underlines the quasi-religious place of the body in our modern society, which supplants spirit and religion. Whereas it would be necessary ‘to implore the Divine Mercy to shorten the tribulation and to bring the Christian people and their authorities back to the true goal for which each man was created, Heavenly Bliss.’ Triumphant secularism has plunged our societies into a forgetfulness of God and Italy is no exception.”

But it is not “triumphant secularism” that has placed a ban on Masses in Italy; it is the triumphant modernism of liberalized Catholic churchmen, the Pope included. Tellingly, however, the bishops of Poland have not only rejected the panic fomented by the media and civil authorities but have called for more Sunday Masses during the outbreak. Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki of Poznań, President of the Polish bishops’ conference, has declared as follows: “In connection with the recommendations of the Chief Sanitary Inspector that there should be no large gatherings of people, I ask to increase – as far as possible – the number of Sunday Masses in churches so that a number of believers can attend the liturgy … according to the guidelines of the sanitary services… [I]t is unthinkable that we do not pray in our churches.”

Here we can see that the political divide over COVID-19 is reflected also in a spiritual divide within the Church: On the one hand, worldly, left-leaning hierarchs more concerned with CO2 emissions than with the salvation of souls and, on the other, bishops who reject leftist politics and still give primacy to the spiritual, including (to quote the SSPX again) “the Divine Mercy to shorten the tribulation and to bring the Christian people and their authorities back to the true goal for which each man was created, Heavenly Bliss.”

Consider the divide over the first political virus in world history yet another sign of the current unparalleled crisis in the Church. And in the world.

Does Christopher Ferrara have a point?  IS this virus nicely timed to bring down Donald Trump – after all, the gaffe-ridden Joe Biden has about as much chance of beating him in the next election as the rest of us have of, well, making it to the  White House ourselves 😀

Or is this just one more conspiracy theory? Fun while it lasts, but no real basis in fact?   If so, we need to redouble our prayers for an end to what is now officially a “pandemic” – a worldwide disease.  (The First Political Virus in World History, by Chris Ferrara source)

I believe it is a combination of the 2 but your opinion of it trying to bring down President Trump is spot on . The Marxist Left are always telling us that it’s going to be the end of the World. That Little Greta of whom I now have a completely different opinion ( al share later ) says that we have to panic. So what happens the United Nations tell a 16 year old Child to share that we spoiled her childhood. This video explains exactly how her childhood was spoiled and it’s nothing to do with climate. . It’s a bit long but it’s a wonderful insight into first of all Marxist Socialist Robotic Sweden and how a Godless society brings itself down . As for you saying Joe Biden couldn’t put 2 sentences together I think that’s wrong. He can’t even put 1 sentence together. If creepy Joe gets in which is very much a reality it will be back to square 1 as Joe can and will be easily manipulated. That of course is if he understands what manipulation means .

I didn’t write the article in the introduction above (I wish!)

The author is Christopher Ferrara, who writes for the Fatima Center.

The link you put to the video about Greta was published on another thread by Westminster Fly. If you copy the link in the URL on YouTube, then paste it here, the actual video appears, not just the link, which encourages readers to watch. Although it is not strictly on topic, I took the liberty of doing that to re-post the video here. The information contained therein about Greta’s family life alone, is worth the time spent viewing the film. But that’s the end of the “Greta” conversation, FOOF. From now on please stick to the topic.

Chris Ferrara is one of the best Catholic writers of our generation, a man I greatly admire, and spot on again.

I have been saying from day one that the Covid-19 virus has been politicised by the Left and is being used with great effect to depress financial markets, particularly the U.S. market which is the target.

There is no rhyme nor reason to the panic being spread about this flu-like virus, which thus far has a statistical death rate of around 3%, much lower than the average annual Flu. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has now declared covid-19 to be a pandemic, a designation that may sound frightening but hardly equates to the Black Death upon us. Those most at risk are the elderly and people with serious underlying health conditions, much like with Flu, so the irresponsible panic being spread around by the media and largely Socialist politicians would be completely irrational if it were not for the fact that a large-scale geopolitical end game is being played out. The Left owns the media, so it makes perfect sense that the media would be the vehicle used to spread the panic. Its also an exercise in social engineering, testing the power of propaganda on the peoples of nations.

Anyway, Donald Trump is the single obstacle to Socialist globalism right now and I believe there is a conspiracy abroad to weaken his re-election chances in 2020 by means of a market crash similar to 2008.

Of all his achievements since becoming President, the U.S. economic success these past 4 years is the greatest in the eyes of many Americans. The U.S. stock markets have never known such growth and the average American is now so much better off. It’s also worth mentioning that Trump has raised the ire of the globalists by dismissing fake climate change, which in turn has seen many American companies return their manufacturing to the States where tax incentives and far fewer environmental restictions have breathed new life into American industry. In addition, Trump has put Communist China back in its box, seriously restricting its ambition to rule the world, particularly America, as the greatest global financial power. Strange that Covid-19 should spread out from China!

Some may think this is all conspiracy theory stuff, a Leftie plot that the likes of Boris Johnson would never subscribe to. What they forget, however, is that, despite the rhetoric, Johnson is no friend of Trump. Boris Johnson is first a globalist with cultural Marxist tendencies. He is a believer in climate change and a champion of “gay marriage”, the Prime Minister who, despite pleas from Trump not to be foolish, has opened our communications network up to potential (and probable) Chinese espionage through Huawei’s involvement in the 5G network, which action threatens to undermine the ‘5 eyes’ security setup with other powerful Western nations. He has also allowed the Chinese to buy British Steel and seems content to continue permitting cheap Chinese goods to flood British markets. In this regard he has a lot in common with Nicola Sturgeon. Their friendship towards a brutal Communist dictatorship tells us all we need to know about them as politicians and as people.

While all this is going on there is not one single word being said about the present Chinese persecution of Catholics loyal to Rome, a pogrom that Cardinal Zen recently lamented as so bad that there is practically no underground Church left in China. The cardinal blames Cardinal Parolin, who, according to Cardianl Zen, signed a secretive Vatican deal with China around 18 months ago, from which time the persecution of Chinese Catholics has been unrelenting.

This piece of valuable information strengthens the case against a Vatican hierarchy long suspected of being infiltrated by Communists. That Pope Francis, a renowned Socialist in his world view (I’m being charitable here!), gave his authority to the cessation of Masses all over Italy, not to mention elsewhere, raises serious questions about his trust in God, if not his faith. This Pope seems to be so imbued with the spirit of the world, a world turned apostate, that it is very difficult to imagine how the Cardinals could ever have elected such a man to the Chair of St. Peter. Whatever their reasons, the enemies of God and the Church, Communists, Freemasons, globalists, etc. must have celebrated long into the night when Cardinal Bergoglio was announced from the Loggia some 7 years ago. We have seen since then a rapid deterioration in morals all over the world, political leaders everywhere legislating against the divine and moral laws without fear of Francis, though often with his encouragement, which is why Time magazine and other worldly mouthpieces praise him so highly.

Basically, this is yet another aspect of the Secret of Fatima unfolding. Sister Lucy confirmed that even the U.S. would fall to Communism. At the moment the country under Trump is trying to free itself from years of Communist subversion and the Communists are fighting back with every weapon at their disposal. They know that if the U.S. continues on its present trajectory under Trump then Communism in so many other countries will begin to fail, which is why Trump has to be defeated by any and all means, including turning a flu virus into a plague to kill the U.S. economy.

Annual flu does not have a death rate of 3%.

      Try 0.1%

The flu is also endemic so housed permanently in the population but not exponentially growing like this virus. Flu has a larger base to spread from.

When CV is endemic is will kill far more than the flu.

      March 12, 2020 at 7:20 am
      • Athanasius

How do you arrive at Flu having a death rate annually of only 0.1%. I’ve seen this figure touted around on a few websites but it seems to me that 645,000 deaths per year equates to a lot more than 0.1%

At any rate, the World Health Organisation itself has determined the COVID-19 virus to pose high risk only to the elderly and those with serious underlying health conditions. This runs contrary to the panic propaganda presently being spread everywhere, a bit like the climate change that’s going to kill the planet in 10 years. I’m not buying into it, sorry.

Ferrara suffers from the myopic, parochial obsession with party lines, caucuses, rallies and all things MAGA which bedevil Americans in election years. If a volcano went off in Tanzania, you can guarantee it would be a commie plot to bring down Trump for some of these people.

No, this thing is a genuine disease and a new form of coronavirus. It is not the flu. For those who get the severe condition, it causes interstitial bilateral pneumonia leading to death at a rate approximately 34 times higher than the flu. Quite apart from the Case Fatality Rate, the potential long-term sequelae of the disease look like they could be very nasty with a significant number of “survivors” in need of lung tranplants. Unlike flu there is no herd immunity because this is a new virus and there will be no herd immunity until 70-85% of the population have been infected. This virus is not “political” – it will infect and can kill you and your loved ones whatever party you happen to vote for.

Epidemics of novel viruses for which there is no herd immunity proceed an an exponential or logarithmic basis. This one is doubling every 5 days, but presently every 3 in the UK. 21 days ago Italy had 3 cases and now they have 12,462 with 827 deaths and the country is heading into lockdown. Their health service has been overwhelmed with critical cases – they have insufficient personnel and resources to deal with it – and their doctors are now debating whether to withold treatment for those over 65 years of age. They are considering leaving the elderly to die. Does that sound like the flu?

Within 1 month the UK will be in the same condition because we are not doing anything effective to stop it. The US is in even worse state because their CDC have been totally incompetent in their lack of surveillance of this virus and they are still not in a position to do widespread testing.

The transition from epidemic to pandemic has been made possible almost entirely because of globalization and the “open borders” beloved of globalists and Vatican cliques. I would have thought this would be Trump’s perfect opportunity to nail down the coffin lid on globalism, build his wall and make China an international pariah for what they have unleashed on the world.

What you say Maybe is correct of course what you Fail to say is that this Virus Never came from The Unhygenic Chinese. But it most certainly is a Biological Weapon a Virus that was created in a Laboratory to do exactly what it is doing. As for Italy and containment of this Virus. There were 100s rioting their because the Authorities won’t let them into Prisons to Visit Relatives Etc you cannot teach Stupid. Also there was a Surgeon with the Virus who operated on Cancer Patients. A case of all Brains and no Common sense. But it is Political. The Demonic Rats have announced better Hygeine Methods on The Streets of San Francisco where many people leave a lot more than their Heart’s. California basically is like a 3rd World Country with people defecating on Main Streets while the Likes of Pelosi still wants open Borders. You have to understand that the Marxist agenda is calculated madness, disorder construed to destroy order. It’s otherwise known as subversion.

As for China, it is little discussed that the Saars virus of 2003 as well as this new one both originated in Wuhan where the Communist government has a major laboratory specialising in the world’s most deadly diseases. Very interesting link that!

Quite possibly bio-engineered, but unlikely to be a bio-weapon. Two authors of the following paper are on the staff of Wuhan Virology Institute. They describe how they synthesized a novel bat-SARS-CoV to assess the potential for mutations in the wild population of the virus to be the cause of further epidemics in humans. I think it far more likely that this was cock-up rather than conspiracy and this, or a similar beastie, got out:

In that case Trump was a fool to not act sooner. However the virus came about his advisors should have understood the risks and the maths. I did on January 22nd. On the 23rd I went shopping for supplies, a month before most people even started to take any notice.

And I am a Trump supporter.

He was very dumb not to see the risks here. I was warning him about it back in January as were others.

        March 12, 2020 at 7:17 am
      • Athanasius

It’s your kind of panic buying of supplies that fuels mass hysteria. Trump took the right approach, he has all the medical brains working on a vaccine while putting rational measures in place to cope with any rise in the numbers of those falling sick, including paid leave for those who self isolate. We can’t hide under the table with a pandemic virus hoping it doesn’t get to us, it’s already out there in the poulation and will continue to be for a long time to come. What is required at this time is wise and calm precautionary measures within the bounds of reason. Panic will lead to societal breakdown, as we are already seeing in Italy.

I agree with you about the maths – I started taking action on 2nd Feb. I don’t think that Trump’s advisers understand the seriousness of this or how an exponential progression works.

His instincts to close the borders in January were absolutely right, but it appears that his advisers have been walking him back from this – probably because of the heat he took when he announced it.

        Deacon Augustine,

I’m sorry – it’s utterly selfish for people to stock pile at this time. The Government has assured us that there will be supplies in the supermarkets – so when I went to do my normal shop yesterday, there was no soap left on the shelves and hardly any kitchen roll. This is nothing but selfish and teaching children in families that it’s OK to be selfish, put yourself first and let everyone else look out for themselves.

One interesting bit in a discussion yesterday about this is that apparently it is partly because of the Government’s preparation for Brexit that we need not worry about supplies. So, the remoaners were wrong about that, and I think they’ll be wrong about this. As the man beside me in the shop yesterday looking for soap said, we got through the second world war, we’ll get through this. So, I’m not impressed with Greg’s boasting about panic buying – without meaning to insult anyone, I do believe it’s extremely selfish to do that, because already the shelves are emptying unnecessarily.

      • Deacon Augustine

There is absolutely no need to panic buy or stock pile, and I never suggested they should. But it is simple prudence to have enough dried food etc in the house to cover for a week to fourteen days in case quarantine restrictions are imposed.

The panic over TP is ridiculous as this is 95% “Made in the UK” and so is not likely to run out. Also it doesn’t taste good at all.

      • Athanasius

        Deacon Augustine

There is not the remotest chance of the UK government imposing quarantine restrictions on the country, certainly not in the way Italy has done anyway. The wheels of commerce stop for nothing and no one, especially in the UK.

Although there are certainly more infections with COVID-19, the UK has been faced with similar pandemic fears on numerous occasions in the recent past. I’m thinking here of the BSE crisis, then Swine Flu, Bird Flu, Saars, etc., all of which the prophets of doom predicted would be global mass killers. Best thing to do, as the old adage suggests, is say nothing and act casual! This one will never reach Spanish or Asian Flu proportions.

People are dying and this woman thinks that’s a price worth paying if the world rids itself of Trump. More evidence that Coronavirus is a manufactured panic to crash the U.S. stock market in election year.

Would you be good enough to supply sources for the information you have posted here, as it seems to me to be somewhat overstated. Despite everything you have just written it remains a fact that of approximately 125,000 cases of COVID-19 thus far reported, only 4500 deaths had occurred.

According to all the health experts I’ve listened to on TV this is a virus that does not represent short or long term danger to the young or to healthy adults, it is a virus that mostly puts at risk the elderly and those with chronic health problems. Hence my request for your sources which appear to contradict what is generally being put out into the public domain.

Communist China was already an international pariah in so many ways prior to COVID-19, which is why Trump was financially nailing down its coffin lid even before this virus outbreak. He was also denting the Globalist agenda pretty badly by withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal, rejecting false climate change, suppressing free movement of migrants into the U.S., etc., which is why I agree with Chris Ferrara on the motive behind the present blind panic being spread, and I’m not American.

I thought it only fair that while asking you to quote sources for the apocalyptic outlook you posted re COVID-19, I should post this quote from the WHO which is far less alarmist: “While we are still learning about how COVID-2019 affects people, older persons and persons with pre-existing medical conditions (such as high blood pressure, heart disease, lung disease, cancer or diabetes) appear to develop serious illness more often than others.”

      Deacon Augustine,

“If a volcano went off in Tanzania, you can guarantee it would be a commie plot to bring down Trump for some of these people.”

I think it’s the other way round. If a volcano went off in Tanzania the Democrats would blame Trump! They’d probably try to impeach him again!

I agree that it’s a real virus etc although the information you give is not being given on the news (lung transplants for survivors, for example – where did you hear that?)

What I also know though is that Trump has had China worried for a while now, as he, Trump, is not afraid of China and once famously said that the USA was selling rice to China! LOL! Trump is free of the usual posturing, pretend diplomacy etc and so the whole world is terrified of him! That’s great because, although his past sexual immorality in his personal life is disappointing, in every other way he is head and shoulders above the rest of the world leaders, and I don’t hear anyone going on about Boris Johnson’s immoral lifestyle, which is currently ongoing, BTW.

      March 12, 2020 at 11:13 am

It is very early days to assess long-term sequelae for the disease yet. Some cases requiring lung transplants have been reported in the medical literature, but these would be a very small minority (I hope). I should not have used the word “significant” in this context and forum as it will be open to misinterpretation. CT scans of the lungs in around 15% of patients give clear evidence of bilateral infiltrates even when this does not progress into full pneumonia.

It is the morbidity of the disease rather than the mortality rate which will cause greatest societal problems. To give an example, Italy’s patient 1 was a 34 year old marathon runner in peak health with no comorbidities. He has survived, but it required a stay of 3 weeks in hospital. It will take some time before his lung function fully recovers because pneumonia is debilitating – you don’t return to normal overnight. It is this intensive requirement of medical personnel and resources over weeks for each in-patient which will cause our health service to crash.

There is a moral requirement upon all of us to avoid becoming part of the problem, and by our carelessness for ourselves, putting others at risk.

(P.S. I am definitely a Trump supporter – the alternatives are horrendous. But I fear that if he bodges this crisis then the media will whip up the electorate into punishing him at the polls. He is definitely NOT being served well by some of his civil servants.)

        March 12, 2020 at 2:24 pm
      • Athanasius

        Deacon Augustine

The Italian marathon runner you refer to may have underlying issues with his immune system, or some other inherited weakness that we have no knowledge of. It is therefore wrong to cite his case as representing one of a certain percentage expected by the medical establishment. There could be any number of reasons why this apparently healthy young man has taken more time to recover.

I am thinking here of the cases in which it was declared that patients thought to be cured suddenly relapsed, the inference being that the virus re-infected them. Cases like this are now thought to be due to remnants of the virus at lower levels in the system that were not eradicated fully and therefore caused relapse. There’s a lot of confusion out there, nothing yet set in stone other than that the elderly and those in ill health are most at risk.

I was very disappointed at my Archbishop’s response to this plague. He has declared that all Holy Water stoops are to be emptied, Holy Communion is only to be distributed by the Sacred Host and this is to be placed in the hands of Communicants and not on the tongue. The Sign of Peace is to cease at all Masses (and I’m happy about that!). So there are some benefits!
I chatted with some fellow parishoners after Mass and they all thought that the above steps were ridiculous. What do you folks think?

    John Rayner

Your parish priest obviously hasn’t been listening to the health experts, all of whom state that the hands are one of the most common transmitters of this virus. Hence, he should be advocating a return to Communion on the tongue, which remains the norm of the Church. Communion in the hand is an Indult for those, in my opinion, who no longer believe in the Real Presence or the Church’s teaching that the tiniest particle of the Sacred Host is the full body, blood, soul and divinity of Our Lord. How can they possibly believe and then trample millions of particles falling from hands underfoot? So it is all about lost faith and trust in God.

This is not the edict of my Parish Priest. It is the ruling for the whole Archdiocese of Perth, Western Australia. And the chief medical officers for the whole State of Western Australia have had a hand in these decisions. Australia as a whole has now banned any Italian (except those who are citizens of Australia) from entering this country. This is an extension of the bans on Chinese, South Koreans, Iranians etc. from entering this country.
Australia is very much a country of being in lockdown just at the moment.

Yes, I should have addressed my response in relation to the edicts of the hierarchy rather than individual priests, who are nevertheless quite happy to go along with whatever the bishop orders, be it right or wrong. My apologies for that, though the general gist of what I wrote was correct for all levels of clergy and lay who touch the Blessed Sacrament with their hands, excepting the young who know no different.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia posted that Pope Francis entrusted the WORLD to Our Lady.

As I’ve posted ad nauseam, the ONLY way the crisis in the Church and the world will end is when 1) the Holy Father reveals the Third Secret of Fatima, i.e. the exact words of Our Lady which follow: “In Portugal, the dogma of the Faith will always be preserved…” AND 2) the Collegial Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary by the Holy Father in union with ALL the bishops of the world – which God asked for through Our Lady on June 13, 1929.

The Third Secret was to be revealed in 1960. It’s 60 years later and the Vatican won’t reveal Her words which She told the children 100+ years ago. WHY WON’T THEY DO IT?!? 😫

These consecrations and entrustments of the world to Our Lady are the Modernist’s way of silencing the conscience. They know full well what Our Lady requested and what Heaven requires but it doesn’t fit with their alternative view of things and so they pay token lip service to the Queen of Heaven.

That link certainly does demonstrate what China is up to.

A friend of mine said at the beginning of all this, that it was all about getting Trump out of office, and I laughed in his face, saying “no way”. I’ll need to eat humble pie now.

Trump was getting the better of China, he said, and China wasn’t having it. I now agree.

Yes, it certainly looks that way but don’t eat too much humble pie since it is perfectly understandable that many might at first question whether Trump was the target. It’s only when various bits of information begin to piece together, in what seems otherwise to be insanity, that we begin to see a picture emerge.

      Margaret USA,

The Vatican won’t do it because it would bring their new Church crashing down. I think it is now totally indisputable that Our Lady forewarned about the crisis which would result from Vatican II and the introduction of a new Mass. I just can’t believe that they would go to the lengths they have gone to, to hide the contents of the Third Secret.

      March 12, 2020 at 11:32 am
      • Josephine

I meant to add, “if the Third Secret wasn’t about the Council and new Mass etc”. Why would they hide it, if it didn’t have anything damning about the Vatican?

        March 12, 2020 at 11:33 am
      • Athanasius

It’s because the Fatima Secret reveals that the Vatican, as well as the world, would fall under the Communist yoke. Whether by accident or design, those in the hierarchy who refuse to consecrate Russia to Our Lady in a public and solemn act, as requested, assist atheistic Communism in its fratricidal drive to rule a world without God.

I’m working on my submission to the Scottish Government’ consulation on the Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill this morning, so can’t respond to every comment (plus, I have Crofterlady’s rebuke from years ago ringing in my ears “do you HAVE to reply to every comment?” ! ) Cheek of her.

Anyway, I only want to remark that I think it noteworthy that, in an interview on Good Morning Britain this morning, Dr Margaret Harris of the World Health Organisation, grinned like the proverbial Cheshire cat all the way through – her first concern was to correct the interviewer by insisting that the WHO is only saying that Coronavirus is “characterized” as a pandemic, not “declared” (which she insisted was a legal term). A doctor in the studio later dismissed this in passing, accusing her of “playing semantics”.

If she’s not that concerned, then, from her lofty position in the business of world health, and looked as happy as that proverbial Cheshire cat, why should we be too concerned… So here’s my thoughts on this “pandemic” after watching Good Morning Britain 😀

We’re not sure, is the honest answer.

During a visit to the venue yesterday, our liaison contact said that so far, they are not banning anything, but things change on an hourly basis. She asked if we wanted to cancel, but (while it would cut out a pile of work for us!) we declined. Would prefer to wait and see if things improve.

Having said that, I note that projections are being made about the virus peaking in around 3 months which would take us into May/June, so I find myself wavering a bit.

Hopefully, we’ll be fine, so don’t let this stop you booking Michaela – you WILL be refunded if the event is cancelled, as will all who have booked to attend.

That is a superb article by Chris Ferrara. This paragraph struck me the most:

That the Polish Bishops have called for more Mass while the Pope and Italian Bishops are banning them, speaks volumes. As Chris says, it is not “triumphant secularism” but “liberalized churchmen” that are to blame.

As the Polish Archbishop said “It is unthinkable that we do not pray in our churches”.

At a time of crisis, no matter what kind of crisis, that has to be especially true.

Speaking about the USA Election, I have been laughing my head off at the gaffes uttered by Joe Biden, and so it is really amazing to hear commentators in the UK keeping a straight face as they endorse him as having the best chance to beat Trump. What planet are they living on? This clip shows Biden swearing at a voter and threatending to take him outside! It’s incredible stuff, but not reported in the UK media. I wonder why?! I hope it’s OK to post, although not strictly about the Coronavirus – you could say that since the medics say this virus might last between 12 – 18 months, it’s fair comment because then if Biden wins the election, the world would be in greater danger than ever! Imagine Biden as the leader of the free world! LOL!

It’s hard to believe that anyone would want Biden to be President. Personally, I think he must be suffering from dementia.

Also, Trump has done so much good in the USA – he’s already brought down the costs of their medical system by a large amount, and if he hadn’t opened all the factories that were shut down under Obama, the USA would never have been able to survive this crisis.

This is a short, but serious commentary from Australian TV about Biden. Worth watching… As the commentator says at the end, Biden (unlikely as it seems) just might stand a chance of beating Trump, due to the hatred of the media for the President (I paraphrase); even if, she said, Donald Trump found a cure for the Coronavirus, they’d still want him out of the White House!

Regarding what planet your UK commentators are living on, I think a better question would be, “Whose payroll are they on?” And, “What have they been threatened with should they deviate from the party line?”

In other words, they aren’t commentators at all, they are mercenaries and trained propagandists, compromised mouthpieces for the New World Order.

An American reader emailed as follows earlier today:

Not sure if you can post this, since there are a couple of F-bombs in his video, but here’s a saucy Brit who claims that:

    1. The CV is already on decline in China – major decline. Likewise in S. Korea.
    2. Those countries who immediately closed their borders are virtually CV-free (e.g. Russia, Mongolia, Malaysia).
    3. On the other hand, the “open borders” mantra of the EU etc. has resulted in major problems in Italy and Germany.
    4. Mass hysteria is obviously being promoted.
    5. The flu is far more dangerous (statistics cited).
    6. He doesn’t downplay the dangers of the virus itself, but advises to maintain safety procedures. ENDS.

Well, I couldn’t post the “saucy Brit” because he needs to study the English language a bit more closely in order to express himself without using the F word. However, his video was followed by a very calm albeit outspoken commentary from Tucker Carlson… Which I now can’t find!

You have to laugh at these Communists in China, they release a virus on the world and then boldly threaten to let it kill us by means of a suspension of drugs shipments. In the meantime, Boris, Nicola, et al are bending over backwards to do business with China. It’s madness beyond madness.

I’ve just heard today that the UK and Scottish governments have suspended all football games until further notice. The mass hysteria around this virus is just unprecedented, all reason and trust in God absent, especially in the Catholic hierarchy.

My cousin has just told me that they are advocating Communion in the hand rather than on the tongue for the duration of this outbreak when every health expert in the land is saying “whatever you do, keep hand contact to a minimum”. Blind as bats, these Modernists!

Do you have the virus or been in contact with someone who has it? If not then it must be business as usual. For most healthy people it’s just a Flu-like virus that passes relatively quickly, unpleasant as the symptoms may be for a short time, so no need to panic.

        Margaret USA

I sure hope it is just a cold you have and not the Corona virus, which is more severe because it’s Flu. As regards hierarchies dispensing people from attending Divine Liturgy or Mass, for me they are far too quick off the mark. It suggests more concern for the body than the soul and smacks of little trust in God. If anything people should be going more often to Mass at a time like this, unless clearly infected of course. I’m happy to say the SSPX has not taken any such drastic measures.

President Trump has been warning about China’s growing power for years (since the early 1980s). For the last three years he has brought companies back to the United states, strengthened the U.S military, and made America the number one oil producer in the world. Under Trump, the USA is self-sufficient.

“He has changed the geopolitical landscape,” says Steve Bannon in an interview on Fox News. We have seen one political plot after another: Russia, Mueller, Impeachment, and now Coronavirus. “This is Trump’s Churchill moment” says Bannon. Once he overcomes this struggle, there will be a definite unity in the country.

Believe it or not, there are a lot of powerful people who want to stop this President!

Your post is very informative indeed. I was thinking of it just now when I saw the headline that Trump is focusing on the message “Buy American” to their pharmaceutical companies to take away dependence on imports.

“Trump’s Churchill moment” is very hopeful. I hope he gets the better of the nasties who are trying to bring him down. Even after his very good press conference yesterday, when he was surrounded by medical experts, the media here still criticised him. No matter what he does, it’s criticised.

They are saying that Hillary Clinton and Micelle Obama might stand against Trump at the next election but I don’t think either of them would have a chance of beating him. I certainly hope not.

That’s a great joke! It reminded me about the news today that Saudi Arabia and some African states have put travel restrictions on Europe — but unlike the Trump government, they are not being accused of racism for doing so. When Trump introduced his travel ban from China, he was accused of racism, and he’s being criticised again for his restrictions on travel from Europe. The hatred of this man is just too amazing for words. Do people really believe everything that’s pumped into them from the mainstream media? I find it too incredible for words. There’s being naïve and there’s being downright stupid, and I’m not sure which applies to the people who believe what the msm is telling them, especially about Trump. You’d think they’d have the intelligence to check our sources which are objective and report accurate data. Nobody knowing the facts, could fail to admire Trump, despite his personal failings.

At least a couple of years ago, Donald Trump said he would bring drug production back to the USA. It would be interesting to know if he has succeeded in doing so. I suspect “yes” because he seems to have accomplished everything else he pledged to so; if it’s not completed (like the Mexican border wall) it’s on its way!

Laughably, the EU is having to institute border controls / closures. Just saw the headline, not had time to read, but that’s priceless, given their persistent mantra condemning “building walls/instituting borders”. Numpties.

Could someone tell me what to say to people I meet who say this virus spreads fast, there is no cure, and is worse than the flu? also, would anyone here feel safe and be confident to take a corona virus vaccine if there was a vaccine made?

    March 14, 2020 at 11:36 am
  • Athanasius

It’s true that the virus spreads fast, just like most viruses do, but it is not incurable, it runs its course over a period of around seven days like all other viruses. I wouldn’t personally take a vaccine for Corona virus because we don’t know what side effects, if any, a vaccine may have. I think, however, that people with underlying health issues, those most at risk, would want to take a vaccine.

It’s worth just recounting again that while this virus is spreading, governments and the media have generated irresponsible mass hysteria over it. It’s just one addition to a number of viruses that come under the umbrella name “Corona”. Yes, it poses a risk to the elderly and the sick but not, apparently, to health adults and young people. The reaction to it will crash economies in the near future and put millions out of work. We’ll see how the people react when that happens.

I couldn’t agree with you more. I have been told that I have coronavirus. It started last weekend and I had very stiff and painful limbs, alongside a hacking cough and painful chest. However, I am well and truly on the mend. At no point did I feel any more unwell than when I’ve had previous illnesses and something like tonsillitis, or a chest infection, is much worse.

Regarding a vaccine, no, I wouldn’t recommend it. Not only would such a vaccine be potentially dangerous, I also believe it’s by and large unnecessary. For healthy individuals, a dose of coronavirus is a good thing as it will build up natural immunity, which is far more effective than a vaccine.

      • Athanasius

First off, we’ll be hoping not to see you at Mass for the next seven or eight months, just to be certain your plague free. The alternative is a very tall pyre awaiting you in the garden!

Seriously, though, it is for most people just as you describe, nothing more than a short-lived nasty flu which is probably best endured than prevented in the young and the healthy for immune system reasons. Any future vaccine, I would suggest, will be an option for the elderly, depending on individual general health, and probably a must for those with serious underlying health issues.

I was just checking on other pandemics since the turn of the 20th century. I suppose the worst of all was the Spanish Flu which killed 50 million, young and old, globally. Next to this in severity was the Asian Flu of the late 60s and early 70s. That one killed 1 million globally, again combining young and old. It puts into perspective this latest viral outbreak with a relatively low fatality rate that is almost exclusively, probably exclusively, amongst the old and sick. It is uniquely this section of our communities that government strategies should be specifically targetting instead of engendering mass hysteria leading to panic buying and economic collapse.

As an aside, I remember that I was around 8 years old when my parents were struck down with Asian Flu, which was then at pandemic levels in Glasgow. I was the only member of the household who didn’t contract the virus. I still remember my mother trying to give me instructions from her sick bed on how to make my baby sister’s bottle and feed her. I was very proud of myself at that time, going all the messages, making tea and simple meals, and cleaning the house. It was a horrendous time, though, seeing things like my mother bleeding from her ears. That was indeed a fearful virus, way more serious than Coronavirus.

I’ve just been watching live coverage of the President’s press conference today. He only took a couple of questions and then left the scene (!) leaving Mike Pence and the medical / financial experts to take questions. He announced at the beginning that he would be doing this – and I understand why. No matter how many experts are alongside him, the pack want HIM to answer questions, ever looking to catch him out. They’re collectively a very nasty bunch. Almost make Laura Kuenssberg look like a saint 😀

Mike Pence said at one point that the President would be announcing a day of prayer – so, out of sheer curiosity coupled with a forlorn hope, I Googled to see if Pope Francis was doing anything similar… I know, I know, I can be very naïve.

It seems that the most we are going to get from Papa Francis is a few words at the start of his Mass, as happened today, saying HE would pray for those suffering and so on. The idea of the entire Church raising our voices in prayer, supplication, perhaps fasting (for you lot) doesn’t seem to have occurred to him. So, he promised to pray for sufferers, families etc. Then, after the usual twisting of the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Gospel of the day) to fit the modernist mindset, he treated us to his usual barbed comments about those of us who are modern day Pharisees (because we think we ought to observe God’s law, cheek of us) – brace yourself…

Pope Francis recalled a story he once heard from a “wise old priest,” about a young priest who was very sure of himself.

The older priest said he prayed the Lord would let the young man slip on a banana peel, the pope said. “As if to say – it seems like blasphemy – [that it] will do him good to sin because he will need to ask for forgiveness and will find the Father.”
And this, quoted favourably by a Pope – truly, you couldn’t make it up…

When I heard Mike Pence, the USA Vice President say that the President would be announcing a day of prayer, I considered launching a thread because this one on Coronavirus looks like becoming too lengthy but you’ve stolen my/the President’s thunder!

One thing I just HAVE to say; it’s no wonder that statistically, journalists are next in line after politicians as a group most distrusted by the population at large.

Watching those USA press conferences, which are notably worse than the ones staged (and I do mean “staged”) here in the UK, I just couldn’t believe how they behave like a bunch of hyenas (with apologies to hyenas), all screaming and scrambling to get their question to the President and Vice President. Their questions are invariably hostile, and today was no exception, despite the various experts giving very clear information and praising the President – one said clearly, and repeatedly, that the President has taken unprecedented measures to deal with this crisis. But that wasn’t good enough for the numpties screaming for blood in the room. One idiot stood out…

Unfortunately, they don’t give their name and media outlet, just jump in with their questions. Here’s one from a definite numpty. He said, ever so seriously, to Mike Pence that you, Mr Vice President seem to have changed your tone. A few days ago, you said that people were at “low risk” from this virus. Now, today, (disapproving face) you said “serious risk” – which is it Mr Vice President? You could be forgiven for expecting Mike Pence to crumble in a flood of tears and leave the room in shame and embarrassment, clutching his suicide note.

That “journalist” reminded me of a kid who thinks he’s caught out the teacher making a mistake on the board. “That’s not how you spell chease, Miss! You put two “ees…” but it’s “ea”… Clown…

Mike explained that they were passing on the medical expert advice given at the time, so he would let Dr Birx explain, but no, the (insert adjective of your choice) journalist wanted HIM to explain, after all, HE said it (the bit about the President and VP merely passing on what the medics are telling them obviously passed him by.)

So, first Mike Pence and then Dr Birx explained that (drum roll) based on the information at the time, they thought the risk was low but now that (drum roll) the information was different, they thought that, for elderly people with underlying conditions, the risk would be more serious. I don’t think The Clown really understood, but maybe after the Day of Prayer, a light will switch on in his busy little (and I do mean “little”) brain.

It’s just astonishing to see those journalists determined to interpret everything which Trump and his administration do in a hostile way, in a negative light. Incredible.

And we can rely on the fact that the Trump actions to deal with the virus will be negatively reported here, no matter how generous, no matter how effective. I think they call it “jealously”…

The Press, epsecially in the U.S., though everywhere really, is more a press gang these days than a body of objective educated journalists. Its a left wing cabal controlled by liberal elitists who tell train them in the dark arts of hostility and spreading Marxist propaganda. Interviews with dignitaries, once carried out in a respectful questions and answers manner, are now interrogations during which the dignitary is not even given time to answer before the half-wit journalist jumps in with another accusation.

One of the worst I’ve seen to date, a disgrace to true journalism, is CNN’s Jim Acosta. How anyone could consider that individual worthy of anything more than selling hot dogs (no insult intended to noble hot dog sellers) is beyond me. He hates Trump so much that he took Trump’s reference to Corona as a “foreign virus” and said it was anti-Chinese and racist. I mean, you could not make this stuff up.

As for Pope Francis, I’m really concerned about these apparent suggestions that falling into sin is good for us. It’s not the first time he’s done this, forgetting that St. Paul (I think) condemned those who say “let us do evil that good may come from it”. This appears to be exactly what Pope Francis is advocating. It really is shocking stuff from a Pope. At any rate, it seems a Non-Catholic like Donald Trump has more trust in God than Pope Francis when it comes to advocating prayer for a remission of this present virus. It wouldn’t surprise me to see this Pope appear soon from Casa Santa Marta wearing a hazmat suit!

Years ago we had a satirical radio show on, locally, 5 days/week, which was very good. Among other amusing things, the host did a spoof of White House press conferences, in which every opportunity for “reporters” to ask the President or his spokesman a question started with a cacophony of “I WANNA HEAR MY VOICE! I WANNA HEAR MY VOICE!”

You are correct in characterizing the press as a bunch of hyenas. I would say they seem to be following orders, though I don’t know where those orders are coming from, aside from high up the chain of the Satanic left.

The gist of those orders is this: do everything you can to turn the American government and the nation into chaos and anarchy. Turn government agencies against each other. Turn the American people against their government. Turn the American people against each other.

This is why Donald Trump will be re-elected, in my opinion, though it will be one horrific mess of an election, and it is also why the pitiful stooge Joe Biden will apparently be chosen to run against Trump (just like patsy Bob Dole against Clinton in 1996, and patsy Mitt Romney against Obama in 2012). Trump provides a useful, high-profile target for all the hatred of the left against God, against civilized behavior, against civilization itself. And there are a lot of paychecks depending on this daily barrage of God-less hatred.

(And though the left is typically staffed with corrupt incompetents, there is always plenty of money available to cover their mistakes. After all, the Federal Reserve Bank – which is not Federal at all – has mastered the science of manufacturing money out of nothing. It’s called “fractional reserve banking.”)

Yes, Jim Acosta is a very unpleasant (to put it mildly) “journalist” (to use the term loosely)

And here’s some news just in:

ROME — The online pornography giant Pornhub has offered Italians free access to its premium service during the coronavirus crisis, just as the Catholic Church has cancelled all Masses and limited access to confession and other sacraments.

Satanic, I think is the word…

Yes, these people, sadly, are well and truly under the influence of Satan. They see an opportunity to corrupt morals while Masses are suspended. What I think should happen is that the elderly and sick alone be dispensed from the obligation to attend Mass. There is absolutely no need for these blanket bans on public gatherings for healthy adults and the young, it’s all over the top.

My opinion, for what it is worth, is that this whole thing has been rather overstated, although I freely admit that I could be wrong about that. Only time will tell. What is very sad is that the ‘mainstream’ Church has had very little to say on this matter of any moral consequence, but then again, who, apart from maybe someone living a very sheltered life, would expect anything else from the ‘mainstream’ Church which is fast moving towards the end of its sell-by date?

To my mind, the coronavirus episode should be a wake-up call for believing Catholics, such that are left. It has laid bare the innate worldliness of the ‘mainstream’ Church was has factored out what St. Paul called the Mystery of Iniquity. The ‘mainstream’ Church views the coronavirus in terms of virology, forgetting that the Catholic tradition has always seen pestilence, famine and war as manifestations of divine retribution. That is why we see so few bishops with their arms outstretched before the altar in supplication, interceding as High Priests for their people and their safety. The bottom line is that the majority of priests and bishops believe, or act and behave as if the did, that the Church answers to history, when it is in fact history which answers to the Church as custodian of the Divine Revelation. Since God has revealed Himself in history through the Incarnation, it could not be otherwise.

Satan is nothing if not the astute serpent. He has managed to all but banish God from the Western mind, though not quite. But he has, under his usual strategy of presenting supreme evil under the guise of supreme good, leading many in the West to think that they are doing good when they are in fact engaging in acts of great evil. Thus abortion, divorce, etc., appear to many as supreme goods to be cherished and defended against the rearguard actions of ‘medieval’ Christians.

These are days in which believing Catholics need to take up the Holy Rosary and pray against Satan, making wise use also of the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel.

I agree with your every word, especially as regards the modern(ist) hierarchy, from the Pope down. It tells us something when the President of the United States (a non-Catholic) speaks more Catholic on abortion, prayer and trust in God in times of pestilence than the succesors of the Apostles, now so imbued with the spirit of the world.

We just have to listen to or read the words of Pope Francis to realise that his entire Pontificate is dedicated to worldly concerns such as the environment, social justice, immigration, etc. He rarely, if ever, speaks of the supernatural, of the need to save one’s immortal soul, and he undermines the Church’s moral teaching by making ambiguous comments that can easily be interpreted by evil people in this world as a green light to sin. Indeed, he has even suggested on more than one occasion that falling into mortal sin is no bad thing as it helps one become more penitent. Incredible stuff. This is the real chastisement of the Third Secret of Fatima, the loss of supernatural faith at the highest levels in the Church.

I agree that a blanket ban on attending Sunday Mass, and public gatherings is over the top. I think that the SSPX must be the only clergy in Ireland who will offer Mass before a congregation for the next few Sundays; most, if not all, dioceses will close their church doors to the faithful and require them to tune into Mass via radio or CCTV. The holy water fonts have all been emptied………. there is mass hysteria and hand sanitisers everywhere.

I can’t help thinking of Our Lord’s words regarding the hierarchy’s panic response to this relatively small virus “Those who try to save their life will lose it”. I know there is first a supernatural interpretation to this admonition of Our Lord, but there is also a temporal warning there as well. They are all so concerned about their lives in this world that they have forgotten about eternity.

The SSPX in Colorado is doing a bang-up business at their Masses, thanks to most dioceses having closed their parishes. How about that for a silver lining to this panic-stricken crisis: more people being exposed to Tradition, instead of to the corona virus!

On the subject of closing churches and discouraging the faithful from attending mass. It is noticeable that the head of the Polish church has exhorted the faithful to redouble their attendance at prayer and the sacraments.
In fairness to the Italian hierarchy, they reversed their ludicrous decision to close all churches.

One thing I find strange but possibly prophetic – in an evil way – is the following.
Years ago, near the beginning of the greatest example of mass hysteria which I have witnessed in my long and eventful life, the Queens consort Phil the Greek stated that in order to reverse catastrophic man made global warming, he wished to return as a virulent virus to reduce the world’s population to a “sustainable” level of about 100 million.

Anything worth saying is worth saying twice, that’s my motto!

I had no idea that “Phil the Greek” made that statement about the environment, but then nothing surprises me about that family now. I respect Her Majesty the Queen for her dedicated service to the country but her family are well off the rails. Prince Charles, who I actually quite like as a person and once respected for his level headed condmenation of modern ugly buildings, has since shown himself be an environmental nut along with the rest of them, using his high status to push fake climate change.

Truth is not one of the royals is a true Christian in possession of divine wisdom, and that, sadly, includes Her Majesty the Queen. She signed abortion and “Gay marriage” into law when her Christian conscience should have balked at such horrendous acts. So when it comes to preserving the earthly throne Vs. upholding the divine moral law, the earthly throne wins every time.

I have always instinctively been a Monarchist, but I now realise that it has to be a Catholic monarchy faithful to God and possessing the autocracy God intended for monarchs if the country is to benefit spiritually from it. Otherwise it becomes a self-indulgent tourist attraction and business tool for government.

    Madame Editor,

I noticed two pointers in the news this Sunday relative to the health of the Conciliar Church:

    1) Due to the coronavirus, it is proposed that holy water stoups will be emptied, the handshaking at the “sign of peace” will be replaced by a bow, and the wine will no longer be offered from a shared chalice (yes, the wine).

    2) Commenting on these proposals, Cardinal Vincent Nicholls (Leading Catholic in the UK) said that none of these three measures had any great importance and could be managed without.

And for the further amusement of Traditional Catholics, a topical joke in Musical hall Style:

    “I am going into self-isolation”.
    “You are going into self-isolation?”
“Yes, I am going to stand near the Militia Immaculatae Corner”.

    God bless us all.

Interestingly enough, Father Z pointed out years ago that the Novus Ordo holy water prayers do not include an exorcism, which probably means that holy water in mainstream parishes is just “good intention water” – and therefore, unlike real holy water, ineffective against pestilence.

Can I point Cardinal Nicholls is not the leading Catholic in the UK as there is no UK hierarchy.

Apparently the Cardinal has said that priests in England will not always be able to administer the Last Rites if, by doing so, it presents a risk to the priests health. Can you imagine Fr Damien refusing the Last Rites to a leper because it was a risk to him. And what about the priests who ministered to the dying during the Spanish Flu epidemic, or those who risked their lives on the battle fields of Europe to reach the dying?

This weekend I read the bulletin of my local parish on their Facebook site. The parish priest thanks those who have decided to switch from receiving Holy Communion on the tongue, to receiving in the hand. He writes:

For hygienic reasons, it is better to receive Holy Communion in the hand.

I commented, saying that this was incorrect advice. Hands are the primary way of transmitting the disease, hence the reason for the high profile public advice campaign on the importance of hand washing. The parish priest then posted a comment, which was written late at night and full of grammatical errors, saying that, once again, I was “entirely, completely, entirely wrong (sic) !” I cannot copy and paste his comment as it has now been deleted. Father went on to say that my “misguided theology” had led me to incorrect conclusions, but he would still be the on-call chaplain attending my bedside in hospital !

This is my reply to this Modernist priest:

Your uncharitable response, via Facebook, is an absolute disgrace. Shame on you!

First of all, Communion in the hand has never been mandated by the Church. It was introduced by disobedient bishops after the Second Vatican Council. The Holy See tried to stop it but the errant bishops ignored this. Finally, the Holy See issued an indult. Communion on the tongue remains the ordinary means for receiving Our Lord.

Secondly, your accusation of “misguided theology” is an interesting one. I cling to the theology of St Thomas Aquinas who taught that “out of reverence for this
Sacrament, nothing touches it but what is consecrated.” Thus, he said the sacred vessels of the altar are consecrated for this holy purpose, but also,
the priest’s hands are consecrated for touching this Sacrament. St. Thomas said that it is therefore not lawful for anyone else to touch it, except to save it from desecration.

    (Summa, III, Q. 82. Art. 3)

Therefore, it is YOUR sacrilegious practices that are “misguided”

As for your comment regarding saliva, the transmission of Coronavirus and receiving Holy Communion on the tongue – it is perfectly acceptable and possible, for the priest to ask the communicant to extend the tongue further, thus avoiding the transference of saliva.

The Archdiocese of Edmonton in Canada has consulted experts in public health and was advised “that there is no greater risk of infection in receiving the host on the tongue than there is in receiving in the hand. Communicants are free to receive either way.”

The archdiocese of Portland, headed by Archbishop Alexander Sample, consulted two doctors on the question of the manner of receiving Holy Communion. They “agreed that done properly the reception of Holy Communion on the tongue or in the hand pose a more or less equal risk.”

“The risk of touching the tongue and passing the saliva on to others is obviously a danger however the chance of touching someone’s hand is equally probable and one’s hands have a greater exposure to germs,” the archdiocese’s statement pointed out.

San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileon emphasises that germs can be spread “just as easily by hand-to-hand contact as by hand-to-mouth contact.”

It would seem that your assertions are scientifically wrong, out of step with numerous bishops and smacking of prejudice due to your Modernist beliefs.

You will no doubt be aware that hands are an important means of transferring the virus. Therefore, a more prudent decision would be for the priest alone to distribute Holy Communion. Lest you further accuse me of “misguided theology”, let me remind you that, once again, your weekly (perhaps daily) use of Extraordinary Ministers is an act of disobedience. I refer you to Redemptionis Sacramentum:

“Only out of true necessity is there to be recourse to the assistance of extraordinary ministers in the celebration of the Liturgy. Such recourse is not intended for the sake of a fuller participation of the laity but rather, by its very nature, is supplementary and provisional.”

“Indeed, the extraordinary minister of Holy Communion may administer Communion only when the Priest and Deacon are lacking, when the Priest is prevented by weakness or advanced age or some other genuine reason, or when the number of faithful coming to Communion is so great that the very celebration of Mass would be unduly prolonged.[259] This, however, is to be understood in such a way that a brief prolongation, considering the circumstances and culture of the place, is not at all a sufficient reason.”

I think it’s quite clear that it is YOU who has misguided theology and liturgical practices!

Finally, you will not be the “on-call chaplain” who comes to celebrate “the Sacrament of the Sick” at my bedside. I will receive the Sacrament of Extreme Unction from a Traditional priest who believes in the Real Presence, as defined at the Council of Trent.

This was posted on the parish Facebook site, but has since been deleted, along with the priest’s incoherent, late night rant. However, I have sent it to the priest via email and copied in his bishop, Bishop John Keenan.

Thank you Petrus – and so will many other priests, because I’m reliably informed that, while they hate it, many, if not most, priests DO read the Catholic Truth, newsletter and blog. In fact, one priest in Scotland, named in the current (March) newsletter emailed to say that “many people” had told him about the article… And I happen to know from a former parishioner that it sure won’t be any member of his congregation telling him, because he has so made his mark on them, that they’re “on [modernist] message” and think he’s the best thing since that proverbial sliced bread.

So, let’s hope that your parish priest reconsiders his position – condemned by the Church, as you have demonstrated – following his visit(s) here. By deleting your comment, he is now (if not previously) deliberately misleading his congregation, which is very serious indeed. It’s a grave sin to resist the known truth: “You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you” (Acts 7:51).

If there are malign forces at work deliberately producing viruses and goodness knows what else to attack us all, so be it. God is allowing this pandemic, as He allows every other evil, and, in due course, all will be revealed.

In the meantime, we follow the advice of St Ignatius (I think!) which is to pray as though everything depends on God, and work as though everything depends on us.

I agree with Editor that conspiracy theory websites of the nature of Millenium Report are better not viewed.

We will probably never know how this corona virus started ,but what we know about recent wars have been instigated by USA and the west Iraq and weapons of mass destruction.
Vietnam war and gulf of Tonkin false flag that is why I am keeping an open mind.

You’re right to say we don’t know how Corona virus started but we know that it originated in China, the same city (Wuhan) as Saars came from. I don’t think Donald Trump is the type of President to get involved in anything evil, so I rule America out of any conspiracy right now.

Ultimately, though, we just trust in God and wait and see how things pan out.

Margaret USA tried to post the following comment, but didn’t work, so I’ve copied it from her email to post here…

    Margaret USA writes…

I was sneezing Thursday night and stayed home from work Friday just to be safe.

My county, Montgomery County, has been hit the hardest. Gov. Wolf has declared a state of emergency for at least the next 2 weeks.

    Channel 6 (WPVI) has updates:

Second, our health food store has been busier than ever. I talked to one of my co-workers yesterday and she said they were busy even before the store opened!

Third, our Ukrainian Greek Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia has dispensed the faithful from attending Liturgy for the duration but churches are still open 🙏:

I didn’t go to church either this weekend and today was the Sunday of the Veneration of the Holy Cross (one of my favourite Sundays). I’m feeling better so I’ll go to work tomorrow.

Fourth, Michael Matt posted this on The Remnant website:

With an epidemic going on, the mayor of St. Paul, Minnesota had the audacity to declare 10 March Abortion Provider’s Day 😠😡😫!!!

Michael Matt really nailed it. If anything deserves chastisement, it’s abortion.

Most of all, my Aunt Margaret died yesterday, Saturday 14/3/2020 (Queen’s English style ☺). She would have been 97 in April. Tuesday is the private viewing & funeral – family only due to the health crisis here in Pennsylvania. I can’t attend it because it’s in upstate PA and I’d have to take off from work & book a hotel (neither is feasible right now).

Please ask the CT family to pray for her soul and the USA!!!

O Mary, conceived without sin, Health of the Sick and Patroness of the United States of America, pray for us who have recourse to thee!

Watching Good Morning Britain this morning, I was taken aback to see/hear Piers Morgan pushing for lockdown in the UK, grilling one of the Government’s medical people on why Boris Johnson is only suggesting that we all take social distancing steps, instead of invoking legal repercussions for not doing so. I expected him to be quoting the huge number of flu deaths against the relatively tiny number of Coronavirus deaths, and challenging the Government on the very idea of restricting our movements, encouraging panic buying in the shops etc. What a let-down he’s turned out. He, sitting in his TV studio surrounded by other people at no distance at all, wants the rest of us to be forced to stay at home indefinitely. What on EARTH are these people thinking, if “thinking” is the word…

Is it because they want us to stay home watching TV all day?

What kind of madness would make someone press for draconian Government action to suppress the freedom of movement of its citizens? I’ve long since learned that it’s pointless to write to these people – messages are ignored, polite fob-off acknowledgments automatically issued, and so I’m not wasting any more time on any of them.

I just will not comply. I will be out there for my Vitamin D walk (!) and any necessary shopping (plus a visit to the local post office to send the extra newsletters to the reader who contacted me yesterday, because he wants to spread it around – the newsletter, not the virus!)

And I am confident that if the powers-that-be, whether the Thought-Police or the “Walk Police” come to get me, you lot will bail me out… I think 😀

Piers Morgan’s response is typical of the worldling who has all his eggs in his earthly basket and is terrified that anything robs him of it. You’d think it was Bubonic Plague the way their reacting, but this is where we see the utter absence of God and wisdom in modern society. They all want to hide away form something they obviously can’t hide from, the virus is now in our communities and it will spread regardless. Can’t lock the gate after the horse has bolted!

Today at my place of work, all people with underlying health issues, i.e heart disease, emphysema, asthma, diabetes etc were sent home. The University where I work has switched to online lecturing, but remains open for individual study for now, but I think it will close soon. I blame social media for causing the hysteria and panic. Where was the panic with the Swine Flu pandemic? I don’t recall churches, schools, universities etc closing or whole countries being locked down. The Swine Flu killed 457 people in the UK, whereas this has killed 69. Swine Flu infected hundreds of millions and killed hundreds of thousands. Spanish flu killed 200,000 in the UK, Hong Kong Flu 80,000, Asian Flu 33,000 and Swine Flu 457. Whilst I am stocking up in case I have to quarantine, I am not buying the hysteria. As Ed would say, people need to gerragrip.

A reader has emailed the following short reflection which she would like posted on this blog:

Our Lady Of Fatima, and the Corona virus.

we approach the Passion of Jesus in a couple of weeks, it seems the whole world must now image the Passion of Our Saviour and walk their own particular Via Dolorosa. As of now, the weight of the Cross each of us individually or collectively will have to carry is unknown. As we follow the advice of the Civil Authority and keep contact to a minimum, one is mindful of a similar outbreak in the not too distant past, the Spanish Flu of 1918.

The year before at the Cova da Iria, Fatima, Portugal, Our Lady appeared to three little Shepherd children, Francisco, Jacinta, and Lucy, and told them that on the 13th of each month from May to October she would come with messages for the world. She promised a great miracle for the world in October. Francisco and Jacinta succumbed to the flue that was raging as Our Lady predicted. Lucy was to remain in the world to make Our Lady’s messages known.

In 1929 in Tuy, Spain in the province of Pontevedra, Our Lady appeared again to Sister Lucy. Our Lady said to her. “The moment has come in which God asks the Holy Father to make, in union with all the bishops of the world, the consecration of Russia to My Immaculate Heart, promising to save it by this means. So numerous are the souls which the justice of God condemns for sins committed against Me, that I come to ask for reparation. Sacrifice yourself for this intention and pray.”

It would be too long a post to relate the whole Fatima story. Anyone who wishes can read it at

Suffice to say Our Lady’s Peace Plan consists of three simple but powerful requests, first prayer, particularly the Rosary which she requested at all her apparitions, devotion to the Brown Scapular, which she held out at the final vision on the 13 October, 1917, where she performed the great Miracle of the Sun, witnessed by over 70, 000 people, and published in the papers at that time. The second request calls for us to make reparation, for sins committed against Our Lady and Her Son. The third is consecration publicly of Russia by the Pope and all the world’s bishops. This has yet to be done according to Fatima scholars.

Speaking to Sister Lucy, Our Lord confirmed that it is His intention that this great public act shall glorify His Blessed Mother’s Immaculate Heart throughout the world, and usher in a great period of peace.

As scientists are frantically working around the clock seeking a vaccine for the Corona virus, doctors, nurses, and hospitals overrun, the world facing a shut down, it seems Our Lady has provided a vaccine, if the Pope and the bishops avail of it. A simple five minute public consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

As Masses are suspended one is reminded of what Padre Pio said, ” It is easier for the world to survive without the sun than [without] the Mass”.

From Our Lady. “In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph, The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she will be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world”.

Pray the Rosary every day as Our Lady requested, and that the Pope and bishops will do as She requested, and this contagion will be banished. “Hope springs eternal in the heart that loves God”. Alexander Pope, I think.

I was shocked to read about the pro-abortion worker at Planned Parenthood in the USA who deliberately coughed on some prolifers taking part in the 40 days for life prayer vigil outside a clinic

This was reported on the BBC news this morning as the police to be given power to arrest people and isolate them – this before the Commons on Thursday (Feast of St Joseph) – so, since the police are unlikely to know, on sight, who should be in quarantine, this hints at a wholesale lockdown, aided and abetted by the useful idiots who don’t realise that – as one commentator said on TV yesterday – things will never be the same again, after this. That’s a very safe bet.

Incredible to think that for the first time since the Council the only Masses in Scotland will be Traditional Latin Masses, offered by the Society of St Pius X, in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

This action of the Scottish bishops demonstrates their absence of trust in God. Had they been ordered by the government to stop public Masses then we could say they were obeying the lawful authority, but to take this action on their own when a simple dispensation from obligation for the elderly and the sick would suffice tells its own story.

The Universal Church has experienced killer plagues and pestilence throughout her history and never once stopped the Mass. These Modernist bishops have stopped it because of a Flu virus. It tells me the supernatural for them comes in a distant second to worldliness.

I am reminded here of the prophecy of Daniel concerning the last times and the “cessation of the Sacrifice”. That’s more frightening than Coronavirus.

I see Trump is being called racist because he calls the Coronavirus the Chinese virus (as a result of China trying to make out it was caused by Americans) but nobody said it was racist to say Spanish flu, and also there have been lots of abuse of Chinese people in the UK, without anybody calling it the Chinese virus, just because everyone knows it originated in China. DUH!

      March 19, 2020 at 10:10 am

The particular section you highlighted in that video strengthens the suspicion that Coronavirus was deliberately released on the world by the Chinese Communist regime to crash the world’s markets, especially America’s, and destroy Western economies. That would have the twin effect of eradicating America as the only opponent strong enough to suppress Chinese globalist ambitions and allow them to emerge from this catastrophe as the dominant power in the world.

It beggars belief that while Trump has the Communist regime in China presently in retreat, the UK government is welcoming the same brutal totalitarian regime into Britain, allowing it access to the 5G network of all things and allowing it to buy out British Steel. It’s national suicide!

If I were you, I would read too much into conspiracies as a) they can’t be proven. It is only conjecture. I will allow the governments of affected countries to launch investigations and release what they find. And b) they leave to anxiety, hysteria and panic. I am focused on preventing myself and my family from getting this disease.

I have in the meantime been fascinated to learn that the citizens of Beijing have been able to see the blue sky instead of a red haze, and swans and fish are returning to the canals of Venice. Carbon Monoxide emissions have fallen 60% and Carbon Dioxide levels have fallen sharply. I saw BBC news today and it showed NASA images showing the pollution has gone from orange and red in China to light and dark blue, with a similar effect in Europe. There is no way we can go back to old ways of polluting the atmosphere and mass deforestation in the Amazon and elsewhere. We were given the Earth to act as stewards, not to ruin it. Who are we to destroy the Amazon through cattle farming, industrialisation and mining? It does not belong to Brazil or Jair Bolsonaro. It was their before the map of South America was drawn up and it was there before the indigenous peoples. If the Amazon goes, humanity is finished. The world will become a toxic wasteland, as the Amazon absorbs most of the carbon in the world, and we will have lost a wonderful example of the world’s biodiversity with countless species of plants, animals and birds extinct.

I am very surprised that you believe all that fake news about blue skies in China and swans returning to the canals of Veince, etc. That’s the environmentalist propaganda which is false and so much of this world. As for conspiracy theories, it is very easy to demonstrate that the mass hysterical reaction of Western governments, under pressure from a Left leaning media, are crashing their own economies and paving the way for China to emerge at the end as the world’s global economic superpower, and all over a Flu virus with a relatively low mortality rate in comparison with past pandemics such as Spanish Flu and Asian Flu. Indeed, 650,000 around the world die each year from Seasonal Flu, 80,000 alone in the UK in the last 5 years, and they haven’t tried futilely to lock down the world.

The virus is here in our communities and we can’t hide from it. The prudent way ahead is to taeget all major health services on the most vulnerable groups, over 75s and those with serious health conditions. Deaths among healthy adults and children equate to less than 1% of cases. Indeed, the overall mortality rate as things stand is 22 dead for every 1 million of the population. Does that sound like a killer pandemic to you, or is the mass hysteria being generated everywhere geopolitical in nature? I know what I believe in light of Fatima.

There is no need to debate with Athanasius and Petrus, or anyone else for that matter, about whether these photos are photo-shopped or otherwise. All you have to do is to read the second article you posted, from the “classicfm” website, to learn that the real reason the water is clearer and the waterfowl have returned is not because we bad-guy humans have stopped polluting the water, but because, in the words of a spox for Hizzoner the Mayor of Venice:

““The water now looks clearer because there is less traffic on the canals, allowing the sediment to stay at the bottom,” a spokesperson for the Venice mayoral office told CNN.” He continued: “It’s because there is less boat traffic that usually brings sediment to the top of the water’s surface.”

Cleaner water? No, just less churned up.

Oops! There goes the globalist/Marxist/Satanist/neo-pagan/neo-barbarian/death-to-Western-Civilization-and-the Catholic-Church narrative! You know, that narrative that is more than implied in the first article you posted, which dutifully quotes the “Space Academy” as follows:

“After a week of lockdown… The canals in Venice are all clear and full of fishes. Kinda gives you the idea what will happen to Earth without Humans!”

“An Earth without humans”…now, who in their right mind would want that? As it turns out, those same globalist oligarchs whom I have accurately labeled above. Those same oligarchs who drill “sustainability,” euthanasia, socialized medicine, toxin-laden vaccines, homosexuality, transgenderism, abortion and contraception into our heads (all these being the slow road to population control = disguised genocide).

As for the third link you supplied, the one to “The Hill,” I think the most pressing question is, why do you, a traditional Catholic, appear to have succumbed to the neo-paganism of the so-called environmental movement, which is nothing more than earth-worship and a re-appearance of the screwball theories of Jean-Jacques Rousseau? Not to mention the fiction of Rudyard Kipling (remember “Jungle Book”?). The Hill linked website is just a re-hash of the buzz words and agenda of the New World Order – i.e. the United Nations. Have a look at the headings:

        Diversity + Inclusion
        Climate Change
        Smart Cities

(In fact, Obama would have been delighted with this website.)

As for your membership in the RSPB, I note their website includes sections on “sustainability” and “climate change and nature” (“We are in a climate and nature emergency.”) While it is one thing to enjoy bird-watching (my own mother was an avid bird-watcher), it is another thing to subscribe to an agenda which is completely anti-Christian.

Which brings me to your final statement: “Any return to nature is something to be rejoiced at.” In reality, the world has never left nature, and in fact is incapable of doing so in a material sense. In a spiritual sense, only God’s grace can perfect nature. Without that, man can do nothing, and he especially cannot “save the planet.”

So do you believe the aerial footage of the drop in pollution is fake and computer generated?

        March 19, 2020 at 5:42 pm
      • Athanasius

I believe that God Created the world and that He sustains it, therefore I have no need to go looking elsewhere for comfort in that department. I never have and never will believe the myth of climate change, polluted earth, etc., pushed by the worldly as their Gospel. You cannot trust a thing you read or see now, especially when it comes to photographs which are so easy to manipulate with modern technology.

As for the footage of pollution levels dropping, when you consider that no one burns fossil fuels anymore and all business are made to run “clean and green”, it’s amazing they still get away with that old chestnut. Oh well, as long as people subscribe to the agenda I suppose we’re never going to see sanity return, by which I mean trusting in God and transferring our thoughts and concerns from nature to supernature, time to eternity.

I couldn’t agree more. I could easily knock up an image of a canary in the tree outside my house to attempt to prove the planet is getting warmer, or show a polar bear climbing a tree in Kelvingrove Park! It counts for nothing. No, I don’t believe for a minute that those mankie canals of Venice have suddenly become fresh water lagoons. Garbage.

It’s quite interesting that Venice has entered the discussion because the last time I was there I noticed a huge upsurge in Chinese tourists. It’s interesting because the Coronavirus began in the north of Italy where Venice is situated. Anyway, I agree that it would take a little more than a few days of lowered pollution to turn the canals of Venice into inhabitable santuaries for wildlife. I wouldn’t go so far as to call them “mankie” but they’re certainly pretty clatty.

On another note, here’s an interesting video I picked up from the Remnant. This might be one for Archbishop Tartaglia to watch!

I was just reading an article on Lifesitenews by Roberto de Mattei who quoted St Bernardine of Siena who said that God not only punishes by war, famine and plague, but also by subtraction. The removal of Mass and now baptisms and marriages in parts of France is part of the chastisement. God has removed His grace because of our sins. The only thing that will save us now is prayer, penance and fasting.

That’s why I don’t post Pat Condell’s videos – he’s one of those (many) people who don’t know how to NOT mince his words without using profanities. There’s any number of phrases he could have used to make the same point effectively without the “squirm” factor.

Condell, like others, seems to be under the illusion that it is because of his fearless use of obscene language that he gets his point across but that’s not the case at all. The truth has its own power, and for me, that method of delivery literally switches me off. On this occasion, it came at the end but I’ve closed down Pat Condell’s videos in the past because I feel I’ve really got nothing to learn from a man who can’t communicate in plain English.

I understand that you didn’t “clock” this and it’s only a short video with the expletive at the end, so can’t be helped. Just be aware, though, that this is typical of Mr Condell.

      • Athanasius

This is the first video I’ve seen with Pat Condell so I had no idea he has a history of using expletives. Personally speaking it doesn’t offend me because I hear it every day in conversation. I am aware, however, that some people do take offence at bad language and so I’ll be more careful in future. That I’m immune to it after years of daily exposure isn’t necessarily a good thing for me! It’s a pity about the language he uses because he seems otherwise a genuinely honest man. Still, we can’t post videos with expletives. Feel free to remove the video if you think it’s the right thing to do.

      • Laura

I know exactly what you mean about being immune to bad language due to hearing so much of it at work, but one of the reasons I love this blog is the way all efforts are made to keep it charitable and “clean” – sins against purity are sure to include the use of filthy language. That word did come like a bucket of cold water at the end of a very good talk. It would put me off searching for him on YouTube. There’s enough good videos without that sort of language.

        March 20, 2020 at 8:37 pm
      • Athanasius

Yes, I agree that the use of that word did ruin an otherwise excellent video. There’s no need for that kind of language, it discredits the speaker and hampers the message he’s trying to get across.

      • editor

I’m sure lots of people think I’m very prudish – the odd expletive is not the end of the world and I’m no saint when, for example, another driver annoys me on the road; I (loudly) employ my very own “language” at times like those, believe me.

So, it’s not about me, or anyone else “taking offence at bad language” – this is the point I used to make when I emailed or rang TV companies to complain about blasphemous content: it’s not me they’re offending, it’s God.

So, since this is published as a Catholic blog, we can hardly lecture the rest of the world about virtue and then deliberately broadcast vice, in one form or another. That’s why I try to keep a lid on impure talk, jokes, language etc – not because it necessarily offends me but because we do not want to offend Our Lord and in the so doing, cause scandal. I’m actually not easily offended at all. Not laughing at my jokes would put you in the doghouse, but cheek and bad language? No problem 😀

Thank you for your willingness to have the video deleted but since it’s a one-off and a very short talk with but one expletive near the end – and since readers can see that none of us approves – let’s leave it.

You will, however, report for detention after school tomorrow. 😀

I’ve been trying to quell the fears of various people in my (ever dwindling) circle of friends, who think that this crisis is all about controlling us. Hearing about military on the streets etc, is stoking those fears. I’ve been saying “no way”, they’re only there to help the police/NHS blah, blah. Keep calm and carry on… I’ve got the T shirt… Albeit that I know there are useful idiots in the Governments of the world who do the bidding of higher powers, so to speak, without realising the implications. But we’re out of the EU now 😀

Having just read the following headline on msn, I’m beginning to wonder if the “controlling” agenda is really NOT to be so readily dismissed: Coronavirus UK: Man, 26, arrested for ‘failing to self-isolate’ and may be jailed

That, and the commentator on BBC news a couple of days ago who said, very solemnly, that life will never be the same again… Does she know something that WE don’t know?

Nicola Sturgeon, the Sturgeon Genreal herself, to put a play on words, made the same declaration as the BBC journalist, saying that things will never be the same again. Maybe they know that Chine will emerge the dominant global power at the end of this and that we will all henceforth be under the Chinese Communist iron fist. That should please the SNP and BBC since both are Communist.

I completely agree. Nicola Sturgeon is a socialist, for sure. Her attempt to railroad through the Named Person Scheme proved that beyond doubt. So it was a laugh to hear her say that “our children” are our greatest treasure, or something like that, talking about closing the schools. BTW already on the street where I live there are children off school causing bother. One was on the roof of a car till he was shouted down. This is going to be a carry on while it lasts.

        March 20, 2020 at 8:22 pm

Yes, “children are our treasure” but she doesn’t want any of her own and is quite content with abortion legislation. Just doesn’t come across as genuine, does it?

Well said. When I met with my MSP some time ago, regarding the Named Person Scheme, and he stressed the Government’s concern for abused children, I told him that I would never be convinced that any government which permitted and even encouraged the murder of unborn babies cared a toss about the abuse of children who were now born. No reply…

The headline is misleading because it wasn’t in the UK but the Isle of Mann, which has it’s own government and laws. Although the man originated from the UK he was essentially a migrant who had just entered the island.

What is misleading is the mass hysteria being generated everywhere by governments and the media over what is, for most of us, essentially a passing Flu virus. What is further misleading is the message going out that governments have the right to deprive non-criminal citizens of their liberty. Once the people accept that one we really will be living in a police state.

The Bishops of England and Wales have ordered the suspension of public Masses and sacraments apart from emergencies. My local parish has said that confessions will be heard by appointment only, bearing in mind social distancing. At least a dispensation has been granted so I can confess secure in the knowledge that not attending Sunday Mass will place me in a state of mortal sin.

Here’s the Mail on Sunday columnist, Peter Hitchens on the UK response to the Coronavirus – is he a conspiracy theorist – or simply the voice of sanity?

    March 24, 2020 at 11:34 pm
  • Athanasius

That was a very interesting video. Peter Hitchins is absolutely correct of course in that this mass hysteria is crashing all Western economies for no good reason. It is a complete over reaction to a virus that has a very low mortality rate in real terms, yet they’re portraying it as the Black Death and removing our civil liberties under near-Marshall law. There is definitely something else going on here, a bigger geopolitical end of some sort that we obviously don’t know about. I stick to my original view that it’s designed to bring Trump down and restore the New World Order agenda that Trump has been disrupting. Whatever the reason, whether by accident or design, the consequences of this global panic are going to be dire on the global economy.

I was just reading an interesting article on Fox News about Japan and how low its infection and death rates are during this Covid 19 outbreak. Japan took just simple measures when the virus arrived on its shores, refusing to shut down the country, and it seems thus far that they have only experienced around 1150 cases of infection and 44 deaths. Germany has a similar picture. On the other hand, the countries that are locking down are the ones that continue to see a multiplication in cases and deaths. Clearly locking down countries is not the answer to this virus, which is overstated anyway and driven by the Marxist media to cause universal panic.

Interesting times with so many idiots leading our nations!

    March 25, 2020 at 12:47 am
  • Athanasius

I forgot to mention that Peter Hitchins made a very good point about this virus, he suggested that it might in fact have been in our communities as far back as December. The reason this is interesting is that he and I both know a lot of people who had Covid 19-like symptoms back then. I had them and my brother had them, along with others I know. We all said at the time that it was a virus more potent than any we have suffered from before.

So has this virus actually been circulating for months in the UK? I think it has and it makes this present national shutdown even more ridiculous.

I wonder if anyone of you saw the London doctor yesterday? She was completely exhausted and very distressed and talking of the number of deaths she had dealt with while being unable to give comfort to the bereaved. Now that is not just like any normal every day winter flu experience. This is a very serious situation and I think the government is doing its best to preserve life. A 2000 ward hospital in an industrial site? Never seen or imagined that before after more than thirty years of being a nurse. Please just stop with all the conspiracy theories. Please.

    March 25, 2020 at 12:21 pm
    • Athanasius

Ever heard of propaganda? Well, the lady doctor you saw yesterday on TV was selected for propaganda purposes. She has doubtless witnessed a number of Covid-related deaths in the particular hospital she works in, but then she witnesses death every day in her job. It could be that her hospital deals more with elderly and vulnerable patients than the average hospital, who knows, but I assure you the overall mortality rate with this Flu virus is relatively small. Check the official stats for all countries and you’ll see just how small, on a par in fact with deaths related to average seasonal Flu.

Did you know that in 2014/15, 28,000 people died in England alone of seasonal Flu, 17,000 this years as well, I believe. So far Covid hasn’t matched that number, so why the mass hysteria? Like 80% of people with Covid 19, I am now recovering well from a mild Flu. Of the 20% cases where the illness is a little more serious only 5% become critical. Does this tally with that doctor’s emotional outburst?

We need to be careful how we react to this virus, keeping a level head and not allowing ourselves to be deceived by propaganda. Our civil liberties are presently under threat as a result of this while at the same time governments everywhere are destroying their own economies. The U.S. alone is taking the correct approach.

Incidentally, the countries most affected by the spread of this virus are those that have imposed national lockdown, strangely enough. Japan, Taiwan, Germany, South Korea, the U.S., etc., are weathering the storm quite well by not locking down. As for Italy, the country held up as an example of how bad it could get without lockdown, it has the second highest number of elderly people in the world after Japan. The stats are also false since they register mostly infections and deaths in particular regions rather than the entire country, making the death rate appear higher than it is in terms of population. So we need to be careful. The lockdown of nations is insanity.

By the way, I had the very same symptoms associated with Covid 19 back in December, as did many people I know. We are now wondering just how long this virus has been circulating in our communities.

Let me conclude by saying that I care every bit as much for people’s health and wellbeing as anyone, nobody wants to hear of deaths of any kind. This virus, however, is generally one that poses risk mostly to the elderly and those with underlying health issues. It is this category of people the government should be targeting for premium health care while it lets the rest of us just grin and bear it. If that was to happen then this vulnerable group would be better protected, the NHS would better cope and the economy wouldn’t collpase. As things stand now, the infection rate isn’t slowing down, deaths in the vulnerable group are incresing and the economy is going down the tubes. We need wise leaders at this time, not totalitarian cowards.

I’ve no time for conspiracy theories. Heard about a man today who lives near me, and thinks there are two Donald Trumps! As if one isn’t bad enough! I’m joking everyone.

However, I do think there’s more to this outbreak than we’re being told. I’m not sure what it is, but there was too much concern, and government action, way back when there were hardly any cases and no deaths. Something is not right. I don’t know what, but I do agree that the government is doing what it can to help us through it.

I just remember the report about the Queen telling Princess Diana’s (RIP) butler, after her death, that “There are dark forces at work in this country, of which we know nothing.”

Wendy posted a plea to us all (on the General Discussion thread – naughty!) to email Boris Johnson about the fact that abortion clinics are being allowed to remain open. I’ve emailed him as follows, copy to Matt Hancock…

    Dear Mr Johnson,

With sincere thanks for your leadership at this time, may I draw your attention to the dangerous anomaly whereby abortion clinics are being permitted to remain open, while other businesses are being encouraged, if not mandated, to close their doors.

In abortion clinics there are staff (and women awaiting the abortion) in close proximity; waiting rooms are busy places, and, generally, it seems contradictory to class these clinics as “essential” places of work when their very motto is “women’s choice / pro-choice”. The majority of the population of the UK has had to sacrifice making personal choices of all kinds at this time. Surely, these women must do the same. Given that there are fears about the loss of life among the elderly population as a result of the virus, it may be that saving the lives of these babies, albeit if the mothers choose to have them adopted, may prove to be the proverbial “blessing in disguise” – beyond the truth that a new life, an innocent baby, is always a blessing.

Without getting into the immorality of abortion, where babies are deliberately put to death, I would urge you to take those innocent unborn children into the “embrace” which you offered in Parliament today, closing down these clinics, if only to keep them in line with other business premises.

I am copying the Health Secretary into this email, with thanks for his efforts, too, at this time.

    Kind regards.

In common with most commentators on here I am not naïve enough to believe anything the MSM says. Now that ‘they’ have shut our golf courses down, I have returned to my other inexpert pastime – writing doggerel verse.

This piece covers many of the points raised above by our esteemed contributors.

    Insidious Dr Flu Manchu
    He’s the Yellow Peril incarnate,
    More deadly than ‘evil’ Co2
    The worlds end to effectuate;
They tried cooling then warming fake science
Both which failed to return the stone age,
    The religious cult lacked compliance
So they went to the lab in a rage.

This new virus not any old flu
It was Crowned as the King of the bunch,
So deadly it made lab techs eschew
    ‘Till the day it was taken to lunch;
Its live carrier sold as a food
Trying to augment the wages of sin,
    Many Demoncrats glad to collude
To dine out on a live pangolin.

This could be their last throw of the dice
To oust the last bastion of freedom,
    Mephistopheles pays a good price
    To abolish jus DE vinum;
He stands tall – a crusader of old
With his finger stuck fast in the dam,
Against ferocious wolves at the fold
In the New world – an old Notre Dame,

Who are the ones to gain from this strife
This war for the New World Order,
Is it John Doe who worked all his life
    Or the ones who came over the border;
No – it is the same scum of the earth
    Soros, Bloomberg and Rocker fella,
Who don’t give a thought to megadeath
They’ll find their reward in the cellar.

I have taken an interest in this 5G technology. Can anyone enlighten me on how dangerous it is and What are peoples views on the idea that it may be sinister and link to this corona virus and lockdown?

I’m interested in the 5G technology as well and am very wary of it. But I think the UK government has put safeguards in place to make sure we are not being spied on when using our phones etc. Some MPs have opposed it and I think the alarm will soon be raised if the Chinese overstep the mark, so I think we’ll be OK. That’s not to say I don’t think it is a very dangerous and stupid thing to do, to let a dictatorship, a Communist dictatorship, have such influence in the UK. I do think it’s dangerous and very stupid. I’m just hopeful that the opposition MPs will keep a very close eye on it.

I watched Donald Trump’s live press conference on the virus late last night (our time) and noted this exchange… I am paraphrasing but without in any way changing or exaggerating what was said.

Journalist: question about wearing face masks. Should people do this?

President: hands over to medical expert.

Medical expert: there is no evidence that wearing a face mask makes any difference. Top medical experts say that the opposite can be the case if they are not properly fitted, and also it tends to make people touch their face more often, which is contrary to the advice to avoid touching our face. So, there is no recommendation to wear one, it’s purely voluntary.

President returns to the podium, thanks the medical expert, repeats what the expert said about it being voluntary, and says he, the President, doesn’t think he’ll wear one (or wont’ wear one – not sure of his exact words.)

BBC News this morning includes in its lead announcements the [fake] news that President Trump is refusing to follow the advice of his medical experts, by refusing to wear a face mask. That’s when I switched off. After all, if they are lying about one thing, how can I be sure that they’re not lying about everything else?

They definitely lie about Trump. As I’ve said before, folks, if you want to know what President Trump says about anything, get it straight from his own lips – watch his live broadcasts. But if you can’t, simply do not believe anything you see reported on the mainstream news outlets in the UK. They lie… blatantly.

The World Health Organisation said weeks ago that face masks were of no use, unless worn properly, fitted properly, by people around infected people, such as doctors and nurses.

I think today they are beginning to bend to pressure to say maybe they should be worn but I take this as more evidence of the panic among the people which makes the experts feel they have to keep going along with the latest demand. Face masks make people think they’re doing something effective. It’s ridiculous.

This is from The Guardian newspaper, reported on msn

“The problem with Hancock’s plan is that testing alone won’t break the chain of community transmission. To stop the spread of a virus, tests must be linked to community surveillance and contact tracing. This ensures that people who have the virus, and people they have come into contact with, can be identified quickly and quarantined at home to prevent the virus spreading. The government’s tests will measure how many people have had the virus, and will show whether health workers are immune – but without community surveillance, tests alone won’t prevent its spread.”

After watching the China surveillance at work, I find this very frightening. I think we are being prepared to become a permanent police state. Sorry if I sound like a conspiracy theorist, I’m not, but unless someone is brainless, they have to see the danger in what is going on here.
