Scottish Government does not truly believe virus claims – response to Sturgeon letter
Those of us living in Scotland are receiving a letter from Nicola Sturgeon this week (I hope they publish the financial costs involved in sending out all the propaganda we’ve been sent about this virus). There is no copy of this latest letter on the Government website that I can find, although the following notice is posted:
Households will be sent information explaining how the Test and Protect system works and setting out what to do if someone develops coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms.
NHS Test and Protect is being delivered by NHS Scotland to reduce the risk of the virus spreading. People with symptoms are urged to get tested straight away, with positive cases then referred to contact tracers.
The advice is being issued as the country moves into phase 2 of the Scottish Government’s exit strategy routemap with more restrictions being lifted and the new message to ‘Stay safe. Protect others. Save lives’. End of extract.
Martin Blackshaw (aka Athanasius) has been busy on his keyboard, again challenging the powers-that-be on the matter of the ongoing lockdown – this time writing to Nicola Sturgeon. I plan to do the same myself, a little later and I urge everyone reading this who receives her letter, to do the same. It’s outrageous that we are being patronised in this way – clearly she, like the other politicians promoting this lockdown, works on the assumption that we’re all daft and don’t have any other source(s) of information. I’d like to prove her wrong.
Martin’s letter is incomplete at the time of this writing, but he has kindly granted permission to publish it anyway. Perhaps this reminder of some key facts, together with some new information, will encourage us all to let Nicola Sturgeon know that we’re not fools, we don’t believe the propaganda.
Martin writes…
I completed my letter to Nicola Sturgeon and sent it off today, copied to Jackson Carlaw and Richard Leonard on the opposition benches.
Here it is:
Dear First Minister,
A few days ago I received your general letter to the Scottish people in which you thank us for our “admirable” help in tackling the Covid-19 crisis. It is a letter that I believe will be historically recorded as one of the most condescending and untruthful letters ever written by a national leader.
The Scottish people, as you well know, had no choice in the matter of how Covid-19 was tackled. You simply assumed to yourself a totalitarian authority beyond your remit, as did Boris Johnson, and used it with police backing to suppress civil liberties and human rights. In effect, you imposed the Beijing method to treat the Chinese virus!
The people did not willingly co-operate in this appalling abuse of authority, they were coerced into compliance. If many resigned themselves to the power grab and its dire consequences it was only because government and the media terrified them into submission with propaganda to the effect that the plague was upon them. Fear is a great persuader, especially irrational fear induced psychologically by a government-sponsored ‘silent assassin’ narrative.
The ruse was finally exposed on June 7, however, when the Scottish Government in conjunction with Police Scotland permitted an anti-racism demonstration to take place on Glasgow Green. There were thousands of people present at that rally, very few of them wearing face masks and none of them observing social distancing rules.
This single event was proof positive that the Scottish Government had never truly believed Covid-19 to be a threat to the general public, a fact borne out by official statistics showing that less than 2500 people from a population of 5.5 million have died with the virus, though not necessarily of the virus.
This relatively small number equates to 0.04% of the Scottish population, of which around half were elderly people locked down in care homes while the remainder were largely people with compromised immune systems. In fine, these were tragic deaths of people who would have been at risk from any respiratory virus.
The same can be said of statistics south of the border; a relatively low percentage of deaths in terms of overall population conflated with deaths from all manner of other causes due to a general suspension of post mortem examinations and similarly questionable methods.
If 40% of empty NHS acute beds in the UK at the height of the “crisis” tells us anything it is that there was never a plague, just a virus which, as Sir Chris Whitty, Chief Medical Officer for England, declared from Downing Street on May 11, “is harmless for the majority”.
Both the Scottish and UK governments have terrorised the British public for three months now in the matter of this virus, using it to suppress democratic freedoms in an unprecedented manner and placing the economy in a serious downward spiral. It is a surreal turn of events that is Constitutionally radical and evidentially unjustifiable.
Furthermore, both governments have imposed the most disgraceful restrictions on religious worship while allowing massive anarchist gatherings and riots to take place in the public square to the great detriment of the established order. This tactic of simultaneous oppression of religion and toleration of public anarchy is classic Marxism.
Given that the same cultural Marxist subversion is being mirrored in the Democrat-led States of America right now, always with the approval of the left wing media, I think it not unreasonable to suspect that the free world is undergoing an orchestrated geopolitical assault on democracy with a view to replacing it with the “New Normal” of Socialist Totalitarianism.
Whatever the end game, official statistics and declarations conclusively prove that this Police State phenomenon has nothing whatever to do with a genuine health threat. Rather, it is our Western democratic culture that is under threat and the informed public are catching on.
Given the unprecedented nature of this bold assault on British freedom it is now evident that the UK desperately needs a new system of politics, one in which patriotic men and women recognise anew that they are elected to serving office and not to self-serving ruling power.
Until that happy day dawns, let me assure you that I will never abide by mandatory face masks on public transport, the 2m distancing rule or any other unscientific imposition on my freedom. Neither will I submit to surveillance methods such as track and trace or abusive legislation to force mandatory vaccination. This kind of government overreach belongs in Communist China and north Korea, not in free democratic Britain!
Comment:
Let’s all write to Nicola Sturgeon to tell her we are entirely fed up with this unnecessary lockdown; we want our freedom back. She is so keen to act independently of England, so instead of following in Boris’s footsteps, implementing the same easing of restrictions as he introduces in England a day or so after him, why not own up to the fact that there is no real threat at all to the population of Scotland and we ought to (not “may”) return to normal, ordinary, everyday life, with immediate effect.
That’s more or less what I’m planning to write – not going to waste an afternoon or a bunch of words on her. Just a few lines to get the message across that not the entire Scottish population is as gullible as it may seem right now. People are beginning to express dissent from the “new normal” so let Catholic Truth readers, lurkers and bloggers get there first! You know it makes sense!

N O T I C E . . .
This is off-topic (but not totally, as you will shortly see…)
My niece wants me to thank everyone who has prayed for her son, my Great-Nephew, Anthony, who had his major back operation postponed due to the Covid-19 crisis.
He has just learned, today, that his operation is now scheduled for 16 July, Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and he is to go into hospital for pre-op care on 13 July (one of the anniversaries of the Fatima apparitions). This is wonderful news and we are all delighted.
Anthony has always worn a brown scapular and my niece had placed Anthony’s intention in the care of some Carmelite Sisters, friends of the family. The Mother Superior had telephoned very recently (last week) to enquire about progress and promised to continue praying for Anthony to have his operation asap, so the family is delighted about this news, attributing it, in no small part, to all the prayers of friends, including the Carmelite nuns and Catholic Truth bloggers.
One little cause for concern is that Anthony is to have a Covid-19 test when he goes into hospital and if he tests positive, the operation will not take place, so my niece asks you all to continue to pray for him.
Thank you all very sincerely – your prayerful support is truly much appreciated.
Editor,
That’s fabulous news about Anthony’s operation – thank God ! I will continue to pray for him to be negative in the Covid test but I think with the date of his op, he’ll be fine with that ! Having the prayers of Carmelite nuns is wonderful – the choice of operation date is no coincidence, IMHO !
About Sturgeon’s letter – there was no need for it. We’re told this stuff all the time, why spend money writing to every household in the country. It must be costing us a packet, this whole debacle, never mind the economic disaster around the corner, with jobs lost and businesses closing.
Another great letter from Athanasius – I’m afraid if I wrote and said what I think of her and her letter, I’d end up in a cell (and I don’t mean a Carmelite one, LOL!)
Josephine,
“Carmelite cell – NOT” Brilliant !
Editor,
I’m delighted at that news for Anthony – what a marvellous Feast to have his operation on – that’s really great news. Ave Maria!
Thank you, Laura – if we all continue to remember him in prayer, he’ll be fine.
Editor,
What a great sign from God that Anthony’s operation is to happen on such a wonderful Feast of Our Lady, especially since he’s always worn the Brown Scapular! That is all fantastic news. We should keep praying that he comes through it safely. God bless him!
Lily,
Thank you – I really should have included in my original post about Anthony, that his Consultant says he is expected to make a full recovery. Anthony that is, not the Consultant 😀
Editor,
I will keep Anthony in my prayers too for the success of his operation. That it is planned to happen on the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is remarkable. May she keep him under her protection.
Theresa Rose,
Thank you so much.
My niece will be delighted when she gets around to reading these congratulatory comments, with promises of continuing prayer for her lovely son, my beloved Great-Nephew. Who lives a double-life as an angel 😀
I’m absolutely delighted to hear Anthony’s news. He will remain in my prayers.
Therese,
Thank you !
Editor,
I have just seen this – what fantastic news for Anthony and his family. I am very pleased for them all.
I will continue to keep Anthony and his family in my prayers.
Really good news which made my day 🙂
Gabriel Syme,
Thank you !
Editor
This is great, and dare I say providential, news. I will be very happy to continue praying for Anthony, that all goes ahead as planned.
Thank you, Athanasius.
Theresa Rose,
Thank you so much.
My niece will be delighted when she gets around to reading these congratulatory comments, with promises of continuing prayer for her lovely son, my beloved Great-Nephew. Who lives a double-life as an angel 😀
The hypocrisy of these leftists never ceases to amaze me – and what is more amazing is that they keep getting away with it, since they control all the major avenues of communication and can conveniently ignore their own hypocrisy as if it didn’t exist.
Another great letter from Martin – I especially enjoyed the little jab from Tradition, addressing Sturgeon as “Miss.” Oh my, just think of how many “-isms” and “-ists” that tramples upon!
PS: If the organizers of that fake “anti-racism” protest on Glasgow Green are known, perhaps letters to Miss Sturgeon should insist that said organizers be arrested and fined for violating lockdown rules, esp. “Stay safe. Protect others. Save lives.”
RCA Victor,
You touched on something with that mention of “Miss” – I know people who are conflicted about it when having to write their name on forms etc. It’s handy if you don’t want to reveal that you’re single, for whatever reason, broadcasting the fact that you probably live alone, for example. Then you can use “Ms” but I haven’t thought of it beyond that. I hope it’s not betraying Catholic Tradition or I’ll need to tell my single friends not to do that any more, LOL!
As well as the anti-racism protesters at Glasgow Green there was a mob trying to deface statues in George Square but from what I could gather, the pics on TV of the police chasing people, they were chasing another group who were defending the statues. I’m not 100% sure of my facts here, but we do know that there have been no arrests of any of the BLM protesters. They seem to have a free pass everywhere, they can protest and deface all they like, without anything happening to them, no arrests, no cautions even. It’s all disgraceful.
Martin’s letter is excellent again. I just wonder whether he will get any kind of meaningful reply or just a typical fob-off acknowledgement. The main thing is, she’ll have read it, and that’s the point.
Lily,
That IS the main thing – that Nicola Sturgeon will have read Martin’s letter – and any others which she receives. That is the most important thing.
She needs to know that there are informed people out here, that we are not all conformists and that we are aware of the way we are being led into a police state. She needs to get the message that some of us won’t be going down without a fightback.
If any police show up at my door about this comment being violent in nature, threatening violence, I’ll just say it was a typo, I meant to write “backpack” 😀
Editor,
If “backpack” doesn’t work, try “feedback.”
RCA Victor,
Love it ! Yes, if “backpack” doesn’t work, I’ll definitely try “feedback”!
Just seen some news items at the end of a very busy day, and laughed heartily at the latest nonsense from these brain-dead vandals posing as protesters – they want to set up a Black House in an “Autonomous Zone” (BHAZ) in the vicinity of the White House.
It had to come. Just think about it. Had to come. These people are totally crackers.
And, not to rub it in, but isn’t it true that Scots workers contributed to building the White House? Just sayin’ 😀
Editor,
You learn something new every day around here!
https://blog.historicenvironment.scot/2019/01/scots-built-white-house-2/
RCA Victor / Editor,
That’s brilliant! I don’t think many Scots will know that (or we’d be getting it for breakfast, dinner and tea, like Rabbie Burns poems, LOL!)
It is a really beautiful building – now we know why 😀
You sure do! Or, as our English cousins would say, “One certainly does!”
Lily,
That’s interesting, I never thought of that about wanting to disguise the fact that one is single. However, the use of “Ms.” was, I think, the very first demand of the feminists back in the late 60s (?). Whatever year it was, it was when Editor was around 39….
The fact that the only people being arrested were the ones defending the statues is further proof that your government is in bed with the Marxist domestic terrorists. A classic demonstration of the only two choices contrived by Freemasonry: the slow road to tyranny (socialism) or the fast road (revolution). They’re all in the same camp.
RCA Victor,
Yes, it can be useful to be able to use “Ms” although when it first came on the scene I refused to use it as my contribution to the fightback against feminism. For the reason Lily gives – and others – it can be useful not to reveal one’s marital status.
For Nicola Sturgeon, of course, her title should be “Mrs” so, although Sturgeon is not her married name, that’s how I will address her when I pen my short epistle tomorrow. And if she doesn’t like it, well, that’ll make my day 😀
RCA Victor,
What I’d really like to send her (without breaking the law 😀 ) is the link to Dennis Prager’s video “Until it’s safe means never”. In fact, I just might well include it in the letter I’m planning to pen tomorrow. It’ll be short, and anything but sweet.
I agree about the cost of sending us all the paperwork we’ve been getting about this virus. It’s constantly on the news, so there’s no need for it at all. It’ll be for the purpose of making it look like the politicians are working away, when they are just parroting out the same thing all the time, whether at TV press briefings, website pages or by letters. It must cost a fortune. There are always two other people with the First Minister at these briefings, and a person doing sign language for the deaf. It’s turning out to be a very expensive virus. I think we can look forward to substantial tax increases soon.
The headline is spot on – I don’t think for a second that the Government believes its own propaganda. If Nicola Sturgeon actually believed that social distancing was key to stopping the spread of the virus, the police would have been out in force making arrests on Glasgow Green instead of out in force in support of the protesters. The only protesters chased by the police were the ones who were labelled “right wing” because they were trying to defend statues from being vandalized.
The Marxist thread has helped me, and I’m sure others, to see more clearly that it is because we have a left-wing government in Scotland that we’re in this position – and I think Boris’s government is also basically left, as well, because it is showing all the signs of cultural Marxism that we talked about on the Marxist thread.
Laura,
Regarding the financial cost of all of this propaganda – you are absolutely right. We need to be told that, asap. I’ve no doubt at all that it is, as you suggest “a very expensive virus”.
Laura
Don`t be conned by the so-called protectors of the statues. They were, supposedly, protecting the statue of Robert Peel, the founder of the police force in London, and then finished up fighting with the Glasgow police.
If the football had been still on, they would have been engaged in their usual sing-songs of being up to their knees in fenian blood.
Frankier,
I didn’t see anyone at George Square “fighting” with the police, they were running up a side street being chased by police on horseback. I didn’t see anything like that at all in the pictures from Glasgow Green. I also didn’t see any sign of the crowd being against any particular football team, including the one supported by mostly lapsed Catholic. Why on earth would you think that, let alone say that?
The point is, and you don’t make any mention of it although it’s the topic, that none of the crowds, either at George Square or Glasgow Green were “social distancing” – they were crowded together and the police were not bothered about that at all, there was no attempt to get people to separate away from one another. The whole virus lockdown thing is a con.
Well, folks, seems it’s been as quiet here as it has been busy in the Catholic Truth office… Several hours devoted to working on the July newsletter which should have been finished days ago, and some time spent preparing an epistle to send to Nicola Sturgeon – it’ll be in tomorrow’s post, God and Royal Mail willing. Martin’s letter is not yet finished – it’ll be a substantial missive, as you can guess judging from the draft version which serves as the introduction to this thread. so read my effort as a deliberate ploy to make his letter shine ! Mine is more of a means of letting of steam 😀 Not to mention a means to encourage others to put a few words in the post. Doesn’t have to be a work of WordArt – just make the point that we are not about to lie down and let the Government tell us what to do, how to live what’s left of our lives…
MY LETTER TO NICOLA STURGEON…
Rt Hon Nicola Sturgeon MSP
First Minister of Scotland
St Andrew’s House,
Regent Road,
Edinburgh,
EH1 3DG
24 June, 2020.
Dear Mrs Sturgeon,
I write following receipt of your letter to every household, dated June, 2020.
Although I have expressed my opposition to the lockdown strongly on social media (while that freedom is still available to us), and to my local MP, I have refrained from writing to you in the hope that this scandalous infringement of our civil and religious liberties would come to an end soon enough. Clearly, that is not going to happen.
Your letter continues the totalitarian practice of neuro-linguistic programming which has played a major part in keeping the population under control; indeed, your letter opens in this way, exhorting us, yet again, to “protect the NHS / save lives”. And this despite the stories of medical and nursing staff with so little to do that we’re exhorted to return to using Accident & Emergency departments. As the saying goes, you could not make this stuff up.
You then continue with the predictable theme that we need to continue the lockdown efforts, because “Covid-19 has not gone away.” But viruses don’t go away. We normally learn to live with them. This is the first time in history, to the best of my knowledge, that we’ve all been placed under virtual house arrest, with politicians gradually permitting us, bit by bit, (or “slowly” as you say in your letter) the restoration of some of our personal liberty. This is preparing the groundwork for us to gradually accept that this lockdown is to continue indefinitely. For which read permanently. It’s outrageous!
To cite another sentiment in your letter, the majority of the population may believe that your, or any, Government cares for them, their “loved ones”, and their “community” – I don’t. Nor do I feel any sense of obligation to a “spirit of solidarity and care” for others which differs from the way I already treat people in everyday interaction. I don’t need to be taught morality by a Government where teaching children to experiment with pornography is not only permitted, but promoted. See your Education Minister, caught on video, doing exactly that… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujePAmm5uK4
This letter is not to debate statistics or scientific advice – beyond noting that the very concept of “the science” is suspect. Scientists do not usually agree or accept the majority opinion at any given time, as if it’s infallible. There are, in fact, medics and scientists who oppose the lockdown but their voice is suppressed. Only in America are publicly dissenting voices heard in the area of medicine, science and among the media commentators. The signs of totalitarianism are much clearer here, where Peter Hitchens (in England) is almost alone is expressing disquiet about the way our civil liberties have been curtailed. His voice is limited to YouTube for the most part. There has not been a single dissenting voice in Scottish public life, to the best of my knowledge. This speaks volumes about our impoverished education system, where the young are not taught to be authentic critical thinkers; they are raised, instead, on sterile cultural Marxism, where you challenge the prevailing group-think at your peril.
I am an adult. I am perfectly capable of assessing the risk to my own health and to the health of others, in any public health crisis. It is not for the Government to make decisions for me. I decide when I go out, where I go, and with whom I meet to share time. That’s being pro-choice. Remember that inviolable “right”?
Not every Scot is blind to the implications of the way your Government is controlling us by assuming allegedly temporary powers, while at the same time warning us that things will not be returning to normal. Some of us know a little bit about history, not to mention the spread of Communism and totalitarian rule – of which your Government has already been indicted by the Supreme Court in London where your disgraceful Named Person Scheme was described as being more in tune with totalitarian than democratic governance: “The first thing that a totalitarian regime tries to do is to get at the children, to distance them from the subversive, varied influences of their families, and indoctrinate them in their rulers’ view of the world. Within limits, families must be left to bring up their children in their own way.” [Paragraph 73 of the Judgement]. You may reflect on this fact when you view the video above, where every effort was made to silence the parents in the audience who were rightly shocked at John Swinney’s promotion of pornography in schools.
Totalitarian government does not initially happen through physical coercion (that comes later) but through conditioning the population to accept being controlled and their freedoms removed. Some of us, however, will not be complying.
In short… We’re Aware. We’ll Fight Back. Be assured.
Yours sincerely,
Signed, Thoroughly fed up, Need my hair cut, Gies-a-break!
A wonderful letter, Editor. It is good for my soul to read such independence and clarity of thought. Otherwise, I am concerned in the direction of travel in Scotland under the SNP. There is, as you say, almost no dissent from a largely docile population (Sturgeon does well – “we’re so lucky to have her”; Sturgeon messes up – “ach, we all make mistakes, she’s only human, at least she’s no English”). We seem a much smaller, more divided country over the last 10 years.
Worrying times for Scotland. More power to you and yours.
Thank you William – it’s been a while since you were here, so your kind comment id doubly welcome!
I’ve noticed how naïve people are about Nicola Sturgeon. It will be interesting to watch the rest of her career…
I’ve also noticed the anti-English sentiment that has come with SNP rule – it’s that one area of “racism” that is allowed up here and it disgusts me.
Editor,
The fearless spirit of counter-revolution permeates your outstanding letter. I hope you will send copies to your MPs!
Editor
It’s a superb letter, all the better for cutting out the medical stuff and coming to the point. My letter will be sent hopefully tomorrow. I hope others will also write.
Athanasius,
High praise coming from the St Paul of the Blog ! Thank you, kind Sir!
Like you, I sincerely hope that others write. If only because it might bring forward to date for the re-opening of hairdressers. Remember, it won’t be a case of “O good, I can get to the hairdresser’s now” it’ll be a case of joining yet more queues.
The whole thing is a total disgrace.
Editor
I’m not sure St. Paul would agree with you but I did have a singular thought when you I read his name in conjunction with your hairdresser problem. If you could find a hairdresser who was prepared to work clandestinely, then maybe a few of us could lower you down the city walls in a basket by night to meet the appointment!
Deal !
A reader has emailed this video – I’ve only had time to listen to opening sentences but I think it is likely to be a very important video. Interestingly, the young man is saying there is now more of a pushback… RCA Victor, note: just a fighback, not a backpack, not a feedback 😀
But there’s always quite a bit of warning found therein, from what I’ve heard so far…
That Carl Vernon video is showing that although it looks like the lockdown is easing, it’s not, really. They’re putting all sorts of restrictions in place – even to having to book to use the toilet in certain facilities! It’s a disgrace. So, places are opening up but we have to register to book to enter? How is that giving us our freedoms back?
It’s getting scarier and scarier. This nightmare is not going to end anytime soon. As Carl Vernon says, it’s what they can get away with, they’d do. If people don’t rise up now, things can only get worse. We are going to be “monitored” as Vernon says, from now on.
Dear Editor,
A bit late to the game, but worth waiting for your great letter. I had a bit of golf and house painting to catch up with!
It is very good news about Anthony we keep him in our prayers.
Also of course Athanasius’ final work of art will be welcomed. I am not too sure that the lady in question will she even read any of them. The usual procedure is some “jobsworth” will send a proforma reply. It is like trying to get past the gatekeeping receptionist at the doctors.
As far as her title is concerned I am guided in this (as in all matters) by the luckiest woman in Scotland aka by wife of 52 years. She insists on being addressed as Missus.
Now someone said that there is no alternative voice in Scotland. I agree not in politics where the degree of stupidity is mind boggling.
It is exactly the same in the two real problems the world faces. That is the obesity/diabetes scandal of governments forcing people to eat “healthy”. That is a diet full of carbohydrates/sugar instead of a real healthy diet of high protein low carbs.
Then the daddy of them all – global warming. The idea that puny man can control the world’s temperature by manipulating plant food Carbon Dioxide, is an affront not only to science but to the controller of weather – God. So can any one point me to a politician apart from President Trump who stands up for science and religion? Certainly not that great politician in the Vatican.
Now as regards all the above there is one articulate qualified Scottish doctor called Dr Malcolm Kendrick who is an advocate of a real healthy diet, is against statins and vaccinations and has written a wonderful article on the Wuhan Flu house arrest nonsense. I highly recommend anyone with the time, reads his piece at Dr Malcolm Kendrick.com. It is so good that not one UK fake media outfit would publish it, so he had to go to RT the Russian state media to do so.
On the subject of Scottish ‘leaders’ I wonder what is the fascination with fish? We went from a Salmon to a Sturgeon – who next – a Hake or maybe a Red Herring?
Finally both you and Martin’s letters are so good it got me wondering if there is a patron Saint of bloggers.
I nominate 3 – Saint Patricia, Saint Athanasius, and Saint Martin
Let’s have a vote.
That vote’s rigged! Two (males) Vs one (female) + the male(s) are cheating = one person. Not fair ! Still. I vote for Saint Martin (for one thing, the original St Martin was a black man and I don’t want BLM after me accusing me of racism if I vote for Athanasius ! 😀 It’s the way I tell ’em…)
For the record, I signed my letter “Miss” by the way – in the old fashioned style where one writes one name and then (in parenthesis) adds one’s marital status. Example below…
Paige Turner (Miss)
Eileen Dover (Mrs)
Dear Editor,
Ps I see that the calender of saints is blank for today and tomorrow.
If you were to use your undoubted influence with Scottish bishops and the Vatican, you could fast track Martin’s Canonization by midnight.
Saint Martin de Paisley has a nice ring to it.
I am sorry RCAVictor will have to find a Yankee saint. May I suggest Saint Donald of Trump Towers?
Patrick,
Whaddya mean the calendar of saints is blank today? According to my careful prosthesis, today (it’s still June 25 on this side of the pond) is the Feast Day of St. William, Abbot and Confessor. Not to mention St. Lucy, among a host of others.
And tomorrow we have St. John and St. Paul, martyrs, etc.
Are you using the Spirit of Vatican II/P2 Masonic Lodge calendar? I hear it’s good to wrap fish with.
And for a patron saint of bloggers, what about St. Francis de Sales? Unfortunately, that leaves Editor out of the running, but she can’t run anyway, she’s locked down in her flat….furiously pedaling her exercise bike, eating chocolates and watching Columbo re-runs…
Editor
St.Martin de Porres happens to be my beloved Patron Saint, so they can never accuse me of racism! Anyway, I’ll vote St. Patricia because I need St. Dymphna. I’ll let y’all read up on who she’s Patron of!!
Athanasius,
Another outstanding letter from you – how I’d love to be a fly on that wall !
I’ve copied it into the introduction, replacing the extract from your first draft.
Thanks again – it’s a first class letter, even if you sent it second class mail – and that’s not a jibe about mean Scotsmen! 😀
Editor
Many thanks for updating the thread introduction letter. Not so sure I would want to be a fly on the wall when Ms. Sturgeon gets that letter, she’d probably swat me with it!
Gabriel Syme
I laughed at your suggestion that these mask-wearing people would hop on one leg and bark like a dog if the government told them it would help in keeping Covid-19 at bay. There’s actually more truth in that then I suspect you intended.
I watched an elderly doorman the other day at a Boots pharmacy. He was all carried away with his own importance, opening the doors to let two people in at a time. He was wearing a perspex visor over his face, one of those things that has an elastic headband like the riot guards the police use. Of course it was open on every side so was useless as a virus protector. Couldn’t help myself when I walked past him, I asked if he had been doing some welding. He was less than amused and I was howling!
Athanasius,
I don’t see what your First Minister could possibly have to say to this excellent letter. If she is true to her leftist beliefs (applied to everyone but herself), then she will probably refer to you as a racist or some type of extremist, a potential enemy of the state to be shunned by everyone cowering in fear of the Virus from Outer Space.
(I’m still having trouble picturing you Scots as a land of supine couch potatoes, docilely obeying every last bit of lying rubbish that emanates from your leaders.)
As for a “free and democratic Britain,” I get the impression that went the way of the 33 LP recording when the iron curtain of political correctness fell, esp. regarding Muslims and the Rainbow Crowd. Didn’t we have a thread last year about Britain becoming a police state? I there were any skeptics then, I hope they have awakened and smelled the coffee.
RCAVictor
You’re quite right, I will be referred to as an extremist and a racist, it’s the Socialist way of silencing the truth and all who attempt to speak it.
As for the fiery Scots, I’m afraid that for the past few decades this cultural identifier has vanished to a large extent thanks to the nanny State, fast food, smart phones and drugs. Scotland is now a country of couch potatoes. Half the population is uneducated and the other half is uninformed, neither side cares much about anything other than their own selfish gain and all submit to the Marxist government and its fake news outlets.
There are a lot of exceptions in between of course but these are outnumbered by the drones. Once upon a time the Scottish people would have told Nicola Sturgeon where to shove her totalitarianism, but not now, not since the country turned away completely from God.
Like many countries today, Scotland has lost its Christian soul. It started with the Churchmen themselves spreading false ecumenism and inter-religion that chipped away at supernatural truth and ended up inevtitably at humanism. The land was then fertile for a Luciferian takeover in the form of atheistic materialism (Communism). Hence the reason why Scotland is now governed by the SNP which, until a decade ago, was considered a dangerous Marxist fringe party. The old Scotland that I knew is no more, I’m afraid. The fighting spirit still exists but it has been harnessed by evil puppet masters to serve evil purposes.
Here’s an extract from Pius XII’s Anni Sacri of March 12, 1950. It can be read in full at the Rorati Caeli website here: https://rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2020/06/pius-xii-disturbances-riots-and-revolts.html#more
“That which seems to Us not only the greatest evil but the root of all evil is this: often the lie is substituted for the truth, and is then used as an instrument of dispute. On the part of not a few religion is passed by as a thing of no importance, and elsewhere absolutely prohibited in family and social life as a remnant of ancient superstitions; public and private atheism is exalted in such a way that God and His law are being abolished, and morals no longer have any foundation.
The Press also too often vulgarly reviles religious feeling, while it does not hesitate to spread the most shameful obscenities, agitating and with incalculable harm leading into vice tender childhood and betrayed youth.
By means of false promises a people is deceived and provoked to hatred, rivalry and rebellion, especially when the hereditary faith, the only relief in this earthly exile, is successfully torn from its heart. Disturbances, riots and revolts are organized and fomented in continuing series, which prepare for the ruin of the economy and cause irreparable harm to the common good.
We must above all deplore with overwhelming sadness that in not a few nations the rights of God, Church and human nature itself are outraged and trampled upon…”
Pope Pius XII predicted in 1950 what is now transpiring in Scotland and in every country of the world right now. Such is the wisdom and foresight of the pre-Vatican II popes.
Athanasius,
That is truly an extraordinary assessment. I wonder if it could be said that Scotland’s woes originated with John Knox, who despised the Blessed Virgin Mary, broke away from the true faith, and established his own “church.” Similarly, I’ve heard it preached that the errors of Russia actually began with their schism.
It remains to be seen how much of the American fighting spirit is left, in the face of the destruction being wrought by the fake social justice warriors/mercenaries. It scares me to ponder how many Americans don’t really care much about the revolution swirling about them, thinking only of their next latte from Starbucks. President Trump has that fighting spirit, as do many of his supporters, but there is too much silence overall.
And then there is the destruction wrought by the fake pandemic, an invisible violence and revolution – which, it seems to me, set the stage for the visible one. On my bad days, I’m afraid America, like the old South, is “Gone With the Wind.” On my better days, I’m storming Heaven for help…
RCAVictor
Insofar as the Protestant Revolution gave rise to the French Revolution, which eventually gave rise to the Russian Revolution, there is a definite link back to Protestantism as the instigator of, and vehicle for, the ultimate Revolution, today’s global anti-God, counter-cultural Revolution. Once the break with the Catholic religion, the true vine, has taken place, even if a semblance of religion remains for a while, the death and rot of the broken branch is certain.
As I said in my letter to Scotland’s Bishops, the Catholic Church is the moral compass for the world. When that compass goes haywire, as it did post-Vatican II, then large portions of the global population lose their way and turn from a heaven-bound direction to head for Hell. When the hierarchy refuses to acknowledge the disaster, insisiting instead that the new direction is the correct one, then there’s not a lot of hope that any particular world leader, no matter how well intentioned, can stop the inevitable apocalyptic outcome.
The world is now so utterly saturated in atheistic Socialism and selfishness that only a divine intervention can restore the established Christian order. We are abandoned by the Pope and the Catholic hierarchy, who teach worldliness and naturalism now. It is as Our Lady foretold at Quito regarding these times of Communist/Masonic assault, “those who should speak out will remain silent”.
One cannot be at the same time a friend of the world and a true disciple of Our Lord Jesus Christ. In this regard I think it fair to observe what side the majority of Catholic Churchmen have chosen by their silence.
We are living through the global apostasy announced in the Third Secret of Fatima, a loss of faith at the highest levels in the Church down through the ranks of bishops and priests and out into the entire world. Naturally (no pun intended), Satan is taking full advantage of this silent betrayal to rebuild his pre-Christian empire, complete with restoration of the Pantheon, the temple of all the gods, by ecumenism and inter-religious dialogue, in which one burns a superficial grain of incence here and there to the deity of choice. Like the Tower of Babel though, Satan’s new build will come crashing down.
Our hope is in the words of Our Lord that the Gates of Hell will not prevail and in Our Lady’s promise that in the end her Immaculate Heart will triumph. I believe this is closer than we know and I think it will be preceded by a sudden divine punishment of global proportions. I cannot imagine how anything less will bring an errant world and an errant Catholic clergy back to straight way, which is the Supernatural way not the Socialist way.
Athanasius,
That’s a great summary. I came across an aphorism a few years ago, though I don’t remember where, about how the decay of the True Faith progressed:
First they separated the Church from Christ.
Then they separated Christ from God,
Then they pronounced God to be dead.
(or something like that)
Have you ever come across any information about the “ages of the Church”? I’ve seen a very few references to it, but not in detail. The gist of it is, if I remember correctly, that we are near the end of the Fifth Age of the Church, an age of decay and persecution.
Excellence! Thank you.
That’s another fantastic letter from Martin and he is so right to highlight the difference between what Sturgeon and Co say and the reality on the ground, in terms of what they permit.
The two things are clearly at loggerheads and are laughing at one another. During this time of lockdown and social distancing, I don’t think Glasgow City Center has ever seen so many large scale demonstrations and marches. What a joke.
I believe all the politicians waffle about caution and ‘gradual easing’ of lockdown is just a dog and pony show, to avoid having to say “we badly over-reacted to this and ultimately have infringed freedoms and damaged the economy for no reason”.
I was at Tesco this evening and was snickering to myself to see that, as usual, only a small minority of people were wearing face masks. I thought them quite gullible. I thought to myself that if Sturgeon came on then air waves tomorrow and announced that, in addition to face masks, hopping on one leg and barking like a dog offered further protection – those same people would do it. They absolutely would, no doubt.
Further evidence is seen with the SNP U-turn on schools, due to parent anger about that oaf John Swinney’s “blended learning” plan. Clearly retaining votes is more important than the credibility of virus hoax.
Some people seem keen to attribute any death to the virus. I saw a tweet earlier, someone saying their cousin had died from kidney failure – so we had all better wear face masks. Go figure!?
What a world we live in!
Gabriel Syme,
I don’t think the Government is worrying about how to admit over-reacting etc. Far from it. If you study the “easing” of restrictions, what the Government is actually doing is imposing a whole new set of rules. Restaurants will open but you’ll have to register ahead to enter… including to use the facilities. That is what their game is.
Keep tweaking the rules so they won’t notice that we are still controlling them.
So, I don’t think we’re getting out of this at all – not for a long time yet. Check out the Carl Vernon video on the English court case thread – clear as crystal.
Editor,
I’m getting more and more pessimistic in my old age: I don’t think we’re getting out of this until we have a Pope who performs the Consecration of Russia as requested. 1929 + 100…..
I think we need to adapt a song to cheer ourselves up (or maybe just to cheer me up!), like an old standard with new lyrics to fit. How about That’s Amore, Dean Martin’s old classic?
Now where is our blog lyricist Patrick Healy when we need him….probably out on the golf course….looking for a patron saint….
Dear Editor,
These Americanos are hard to please.
Yes I had a hard time on the golf course this morning – the rough is up to my oxters (Scots/irish for armpits) and I lost my swing. Yes I prayed to St Anthony the patron Saint of lost objects – my swing.
So this a rushed first draft of a song loosely based on the great late Deano the grape lover.
Do Not Obey
When they say genuflect
To the New Satan sect
Do not obey
When they say wear a mask
As if you’re in a cask
Do not obey.
We know that the flu began
In a lab in Wuhan- it’s a plot
Sent by the CCP
To infect you and me – it’s a plot
Then our own Marxists here
Tried to make us adhere
To their dystopian plan –
Wipe God out of the shot.
When they say genuflect
To the New Satan sect
Do not obey
When they say wear a mask
As if you’re in a cask
Do not obey.
Church bells don’t ring
Ding-a-ling-a-ling they are in mourning
Church leaders in tune
With the commune
Tippy-tippy-tay like a gay Mafiosa
-they’re shortening.
RCAVictor,
That is the best I can do at such short notice and as I am an Irish ballad singer am not a great fan of tin pan alley, but loved old Dino.
Dear Editor,
Who would be a world renowned top twenty song writer when his spell prompter writes rubbish?
The last word in the above smash hit should read ‘suborning’ not ‘shortening’
Mind you the great Burl Ives had a hit with “Mammas little Baby loved shortening bread…… ” so maybe the computer is trying to tell me something.
BTW we will go halfies on the royalties – OK?
Patrick,
As my old piano teacher was wont to say, “Splendid!” And I’m glad St. Anthony found your swing for you, because as they used to say on Tin Pan Alley:
“It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing.”
I love Dino as well, but not his best buddy Sinatra, whose singing was usually slightly out of tune, and no vibrato to speak of, even when he tried to force it. As for the rest of the Rat Pack, speaking off Satan, I recently discovered that Sammy Davis, Jr. was a Satan-worshiper. Hollywood is full of them – which would explain a few things.
RCAVictor
Speaking of that era, or slightly earlier, I watched a couple of great Youtube videos of Fats Waller tonight. What a talent.
Athanasius,
He sure was – they called him the “King of Stride Piano.” (Left hand jumping back and forth between a low bass note or octave, and a chord in the middle register. I dreaded having to play songs with that kind of accompaniment – my left hand would invariably miss the low notes!
This is a very interesting video:

Have a (hollow) laugh, folks.
An Obituary in the London Times
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years.
No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
– Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
– Why the early bird gets the worm;
– Life isn’t always fair;
– And maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realise that a steaming cup of coffee was hot . She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death,
-by his parents, Truth and Trust,
-by his wife, Discretion,
-by his daughter, Responsibility,
-and by his son, Reason.
He is survived by his 5 stepchildren;
– I Know My Rights
– I Want It Now
– Someone Else Is To Blame
– I’m A Victim
– Pay me for Doing Nothing
Not many attended his funeral because so few realised he was gone.
If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.
Crofterlady
That’s the only obituary I have ever read with a big grin on my face. Of course “Common Sense” is another term for Divine Wisdom, so we can well understand its demise in a world turned from its Creator and Saviour.
https://www.ukcolumn.org/article/the-hydroxychloroquine-scandal
Crofterlady,
I’ve seen quite a few YouTube videos saying how it is a disgrace that this drug is not being used – this is all about pushing the Gates vaccine. I am horrified.
Dear Editor,
Lily, you are half right, anything President Trump advocates is instantaneously condemned by those with TDS – Trump Derangement Syndrome. The main stream fake media.
Patrick Healy
President Trump has been caught in a deviously clever Marxist pincer movement. On the one hand he has been forced by the Covid-19 scamdemic to destroy the US economy he had built up, and on the other he has been relatively paralysed in dealing with the anarchist riots due to media and State governor hostility towards him. As a result things are not looking good for his re-election prospects. Read Tucker Carlson here:
https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/tucker-carlson-trump-could-well-lose-the-election-he-must-defend-americas-institutions
But surely God is in control and He can do as he pleases?
Dear editor,
Thank you Athanasius. Yes a saw the Tucker spiel earlier. He is usually spot on but recently has been getting a bit of stick from bloggers on The Conservative Tree House where i get my morning cup of wisdom from,
Yes I agree that the last hope for Judeo Christianity is between a rock and a hard place, but i trust the American people to do the right thing in November. If the satanist win – we really are in big trouble.
Athanasius,
I saw that on YouTube a short while ago, so I’ve used it to launch a fresh thread. It’s very powerful – a wake-up call – so looking forward to the comments on the new thread.
There is a major incident in Glasgow, all over the TV news, I’ve just been watching Sky.

Here is an interview of a man who, I believe, is Father Linus Clovis’ brother, talking about the scam-demic:
RCA Victor,
Father Clovis is from a large, very actively pro-life family in London so I look forward to listening to that over the weekend.
Here is the email I have just received from the Catholic Parliamentary Office – and my very cheeky reply. I can barely contain my anger at these idiots' obedience to an enemy State:
From: Catholic Parliamentary Office
Sent: 29 June 2020 17:44
To: Catholic Truth
Subject: Write to your MSP regarding the resumption of communal worship
Ask your MSP to challenge the Scottish Government’s decision not to resume communal worship any earlier than 23 July
________________________________________
The Scottish Government’s decision not to allow places of worship to open for communal worship until 23 July at the earliest, while allowing pubs, restaurants and cinemas to reopen on 15 July is both disappointing and perplexing.
The Catholic Church has responded positively to government requests from the very beginning of lockdown and submitted detailed protocols for infection control and staged reopening to the Scottish Government several weeks ago, without any objection from the government.
The church has continued to engage with government and the reopening of churches for personal prayer since Monday (22 June) has allowed time to assess the procedures in place to assure public safety. With these considerations in mind, further delays to communal worship appear unjustified.
We have, over the last few days, continued to make representations to government. With no decision forthcoming we urge you to write to your MSPs, if you have not already done so, and ask them to challenge the Scottish Government on this matter. Here are some points you might want to raise in your email:
• It makes no sense to allow pubs, restaurants and cinemas to reopen but not allow communal worship.
• Many places of worship, including Catholic churches, have taken exceptional measures to make them safe for the public.
• Communal worship is important for many people, especially during this difficult time. It brings a sense of hope and keeps people connected, especially the most vulnerable and isolated.
Please click the link below, enter your postcode and you will be given contact details for your MSPs (remember you have one constituency MSP and several (normally seven) regional MSPs).

MY REPLY
Well maybe now you will get the message that the State is the enemy of the Catholic Church. And even now you’re asking the laity to do the work. I’ll be looking for a very strong statement on the Bishops’ website. Read the letter to the Bishops of Scotland from a Scots layman, upbraiding them for their cowardice throughout this entire debacle. He’s included the facts about this “crisis” – you can read it on our blog if you wish because I’m not inclined to provide the link. Whether or not pubs etc are allowed to reopen is irrelevant. You just don’t get it do you? God is NOT on an equal footing with pubs and restaurants or anything else. The churches should never, but never, have been closed.
