Covid-19: Is the Pandemic Panic Dying?

Covid-19: Is the Pandemic Panic Dying?

Does the optimism in the above video, hopeful that the end of the pandemic restrictions is nigh, reflect what is happening in the UK?  Or is the fact that we are living under the persistent threat of more local lockdowns and fresh restrictions, an indication that, on this side of The Pond, at least, life as before, life under the “old normal” is not set to return any time soon – if ever?   See, in the short video clip below, the Scottish First Minister, just a few short days ago, setting out the latest limits to the freedom of Glaswegians – the majority of whom will humbly (or stupidly, depending on your point of view) comply, without question…  The USA is led by a President who wants to restore the “old normal” – the UK is led by those who appear to be committed to the “new” normal – tyrannical rule, “rule by decree”.  Is that a fair interpretation of current events?

Well, if we needed any more evidence that the Pandemic Panic is NOT drawing to a close in the UK, it’s got to be the appointment of “marshalls” to enforce social distancing, and this as further restrictions are being introduced in England (with Scotland, undoubtedly to follow).

I took time to read just the first few comments underneath the above linked article and noticed one person saying that the choice of the title “marshalls” is no coincidence – “predictive programming” he/she called it. I’ve never heard of it, but since we’re being persistently programmed, who am I to argue?

On BBC Radio 2 today, Jeremy Vine Show, the first topic for discussion was about the restrictions, and whether the cure was worse than the disease. His first guest was a doctor on our side of the argument and the other was following the government/media narrative. Then an assortment of people phoning in, the first text coming from a woman totally horrified that the question should even be asked. Yeah, real independent thinkers we have here in the UK. Great education system – NOT!

Anyway, if you want to listen (the whole show lasts for two hours but this is the first topic, and it’s interspersed with “music”, be warned) you can use the “listen again” facility for up to 29 days, or thereabouts.

Note: they’ve made it so you will seen to sign up for a BBC account, if you want to hear it – they didn’t used to do this. I had heard the first doctor speaking when I was driving so I wanted to hear the rest of that segment and signed up when I returned home. I’ve not yet heard all the callers who rang in but I was very pleased to hear the fist doctor pointing out what we keep pointing out here – that we don’t need the government controlling us. He also made the excellent point that if the NHS needs us to protect it, then maybe it’s time to look at the NHS again, because it’s the work of the NHS to protect US!

    Game, set and match!

Firstly, great to have your avatar back!

And that article over at RT is just fantastic. I haven’t laughed so much for ages. I’ve copied it to post here in case others don’t click on the link. Here’s some well needed hilarity – this writer makes the point I keep making in conversation (and I imagine I’ve made on the blog) that this is a very interesting virus, not only because it has caused every other illness to disappear altogether, but also because it can tell the difference between the various numbers and groupings apparently plucked out of thin air by the Government. Read on – this writer puts it much better than I ever could… Priceless.

Quoting the RT article… (but recommend you read it at source)…

“The latest crazy edict from Boris Johnson’s government is that only six people can meet up in private homes. There is no logic to this whatsoever, and it perfectly sums up their shambolic handling of the entire coronavirus crisis.

From September 14, it will be illegal for more than six people to gather in a variety of places, including private homes, in England. This ban also extends to restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs and even outdoor spaces, and applies across the board to all ages. However, the rule won’t apply in an array of other scenarios, for no other apparent reason than Matt Hancock says so.

The health secretary, who also seems to have appointed himself commissioner of the fun police, explained to the adoring inmates of Airstrip One that: “one of the pieces of feedback we had, including from the police, was that we needed the rules to be super simple so that everybody knows what they are, and now this will be rigorously enforced by the police. This is really simple. Gatherings are OK, they should be socially distanced of course, but groups only of up to six.”

They may be really simple, Mr Hancock, but far more striking than their simplicity is their earth-shattering stupidity. The new restrictions are being introduced in response to a steep rise in coronavirus cases. Not deaths, not hospitalisations, but cases. This rise in cases has, astonishingly, coincided with an increase in testing, but the fact that if you go looking for something you might find more of it doesn’t seem to have crossed the minds of the geniuses at the Department of Health.

Despite that little nugget of information passing them by, they have identified some situations where it is apparently fine for more than six people to congregate. These include schools and workplaces, ‘Covid-secure’ weddings, funerals and organised team sports.

Quite how Covid-19 is supposed to tell the difference between having seven or more people round for a few drinks just for the hell of it and having seven or more people round for a few drinks because it’s a wedding is not immediately clear. But I guess we’ll just have to take Matt’s word for it.

It is also good to know that the virus apparently doesn’t spread when you are doing things the government approves of, like going to work or school, but does spread if you just want to enjoy yourself. I didn’t know that viruses were capable of telling the difference between a diversity training seminar and a dinner party, or a geography lesson and a barbecue, but you learn something new every day…

These new laws regarding socialising will be enforced through a £100 fine if people fail to comply, doubling on each offence up to a maximum of £3,200. This means that people could be given a criminal record for hanging around with more than six people in a park. This is complete insanity, and completely arbitrary. Why have they settled on six people as a limit? Has Matt Hancock been binge-watching ‘Friends’ on Netflix during lockdown? Is he making sure we’re spared an S Club 7 reunion? Does he just not have many mates?

It is staggering that we Brits are continuing to put up with this nonsensical idiocy from our government, but what alternative do we have? Captain Hindsight Keir Starmer won’t dare suggest that the government is overreaching itself with these totalitarian measures, lest he be accused of wanting to kill pensioners.

The devolved administrations in Wales and Scotland seem to be having a competition to be even more ridiculous than the absolute shower in Westminster, and the MSM continue to breathlessly report every case of coronavirus without ever providing the context of how ill any of the people who have it are.

For all the protestations of Hancock and Boris Johnson that they are making “tough” decisions, it seems to have passed them by that they are actually just making “bad” decisions.

Quite how they can look at themselves in the mirror when they are criminalising socialising is frankly extraordinary, but the fact they are also reportedly considering a national 10pm curfew is proof that things could get worse before they get better.

In fact, at this stage, it appears that they simply like telling people what to do. The more worrying thing is that we, the people, are continuing to let them. Ends

Totally hilarious. Just one thing – I am not so sure that they didn’t realise that more testing would mean more cases being discovered; personally, I think it’s more likely that they increased the testing precisely because they wanted to find more cases and thus give themselves an excuse to keep tightening the screws. I know it’s commonplace enough – always has been – to express cynicism about politicians. I’ve always been sceptical myself but after this, I will never, never, never trust any politician again – EVER.

I hope you all enjoyed the RT article – thanks to Crofterlady for posting the link. Priceless. The article, I mean, not Crofterlady 😀

Thank you Wendy, I have now visited the link, and urge others to sign their petition. I have also emailed privately, using the email address given in the above link. I’ll post my email under this video…

I write with reference to the document Consultation: changes to Human Medicine Regulations to support the rollout of Covid-19 vaccines.

I am outraged at the very idea that hitherto safeguards against possibly dangerous vaccines are to be removed, recognising this as but one more indicator of the ridiculous hysteria surrounding this exaggerated (to say the least) public health crisis.

I write, too, to insist that there be no attempt to impose mandatory vaccinations – I will certainly not comply. I already refuse the annual flu jab and I’ve no intention of accepting this rushed through vaccine against what is, in fact, a harmless virus for most of those who become infected – including the elderly, according to Sir Chris Whitty, who said that the great majority, over 90%, survive it. (Coronavirus: Elderly people ‘not a goner’ and great majority will recover from disease, UK medical chief says, The Independent, 5/3/20).

More and more of us are waking up to the reality of the sinister nature of the Government’s handling of this virus. What were once considered conspiracy theories are now taking place in our communities, as we have become a police state in all but name.

Please do not continue with the rolling out of any Covid-19 vaccine. Allow us to live our lives as normally because in that way the virus will continue to affect very few people, certainly no more than the usual bouts of annual flu. The measures being imposed across the UK have been totally ridiculous but now, with this latest unnecessarily urgent pursuit of a vaccine, these measures are now on a different level, moving from ridiculous to dangerous. (Signed…)

However, I then received the following automatic email… These governments know how to keep the public at bay…

This inbox is not currently being monitored.

If you wish to respond to the consultation on changes to Human Medicine Regulations to support the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines, please use this survey:

The consultation document and draft regulations are available here:

This inbox will only be monitored once the consultation has closed on Friday 18th September. It is for those who missed the closing date of the consultation, but still wish to make comments. Ends.

So, I will take a look at their consultation form later. I urge others to do so as well time and energy permitting. I think we’re all close to suffering Covid-Fatigue and that without having been infected with the virus! You have to laugh… beats crying!

I personally think the story with regard to the bad side effect linked to the Oxford vaccine and the suspension of it’s trial, was to show the public how safety in the vaccine is the governments main concern. They have resumed testing the vaccine again.
