The Terrible Emotional Impact of Covid-19 & Lockdown – Is This Irreparable?

The above is not the video I had planned to post. I had planned to post a very short video from the Anna Brees channel which I watched last night but which appears to have been removed by Anna, which is a pity. In that short video, Anna was expressing her own emotional response, very calmly, to the ongoing restrictions; very honestly, she revealed her sadness and sense of (almost) despair. She seemed close to tears at one point. It was very moving. I’m guessing that she may have removed it out of sense of duty, not to make the rest of us feel depressed, given that her video interviews – some of which we’ve featured on this blog – are always upbeat and informative. I wish she’d left the video online because it made me think more, not less of her. She is a person of integrity and I can’t see anyone thinking any less of her because of her honest appraisal of the impact of our “new normal” way of life on her emotional health. She speaks for more people than, I think, she probably realises. I say this because…
By coincidence, if there is such a thing, I had been in conversation earlier with a friend who told me that she was increasingly downhearted about the whole situation and sometimes came close to tears thinking about life as it is now. I was able to tell her that I feel exactly the same. It’s difficult to think and act as if everything is normal, when it’s not, and there is no end in sight. “Six months”, the Governments of the UK say – but who trusts them these days? Who trusts the mainstream media, especially the TV news channels? If you come across anyone who does, tell them I can get them a great discount on the Forth Road Bridge.
Feel free to post updates on the Coronavirus “crisis” on this thread, as usual, but also seek to give reasons why people become a bit downhearted. Is it because we wonder if this virus will ever go away? Will life ever return to normal? Or is it because we fear that the virus is being used as the excuse to change the way we are governed, to condition us to accept tyrannical “rule by decree” forever, wondering if this suffering will ever pass?
Happily, informed Catholics know that yes, it will pass, once the Pope and Bishops consecrate Russia to Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart in the manner prescribed in the Fatima apparitions. As the Church remains in crisis, with the worst ever pontiff in history at the helm, this does not look likely to happen in the very near future, so, naturally, in the meantime, we are all being tested in our personal response to the oppressive government measures which are taking away our individual freedoms.
IS the emotional turmoil caused by this public health “crisis”, the lockdown and continuing restrictions irreparable? If not, then, in your opinion, humanly speaking, how can it be repaired? More prayer, of course. Anything else?

How has this become the norm? Our bungling ministers are introducing and passing legislation left right and center, with no real scrutiny over the impact they might have. They are continuously moving the goalposts and damaging British livelihoods as they go.
Our legal challenge is the only way we can stop any new measures or circuit-breakers from going in place. This terrible pattern must be stopped.

I suppose it is the very real impact on family life that concerns me most. That and the sense of helplessness in the face of government dictat s which are rolled out with little if any opposition. As an older and probably vulnerable person, it distresses me to see the effect of these rules on young people who are having their educations and lives spoiled when they should be enjoying freedom. And the economy is being wrecked too so the future for our children and grandchildren will be difficult. Closer to home, I find myself in conflict with my husband who is much more conformist and gets cross when I rant about this “new normal”. Yesterday we met my brother and sister in law for lunch at a local restaurant. We had not seen them since Christmas. As soon as we turned up we were asked if we had downloaded the new tracing App. We hadn’t and nor did I intend to. The owner then proceeded to show us how to do it. I refused politely and ascertained that we were not breaking the law. In the end they just took our phone numbers and left it at that. I agree with you whispered the waitress! It didn’t ruin the meal of course but yet another sinister attempt to control us. My husband now wants us to put the wretched app on our phones. I don’t. Impasse.
What to do about these miserable feelings? Well a little rebellion here and there cheers me up a bit but there is a general underlying depression and I am not normally like this.

I’m not long home so I am making this flying visit to the blog, back later…
I just want to say that all of this is dividing families and make no mistake about it, this is no accident because, whether or not your husband yet realises it, this is not temporary. It’s not going to end in that we are being conditioned to accept this new form of governance – rule by decree – and, because the bulk of the population is being obedient, things will only get worse.
Speaking with my niece earlier today (you met her if you recall, when you were here for one of our conferences), she said things have palpably worsened now with the new rules in place today. The female bus driver was positively hostile to her, due to not wearing a mask and insisted that she get an exemption certificate for future use. She has been on buses throughout this whole situation without any such demand. Ditto in the supermarkets – everybody is now twice as officious. One man (customer) asked her why she wasn’t wearing a mask and when she asked if it was any of his business, he replied “yes”. I left her in no doubt that the next time some busybody asks that question, the reply has to be “It’s NONE of your business!” She had realised that, too late. I’m convinced it’s because she looks much younger than her age, which is why these idiot busybody types feel free to insult her and treat her so rudely.
Then she got into conversation with two elderly women who were so mixed up about the rules that they thought the 10pm curfew (on pubs and restaurants) applied to us all, we had to be off the streets by 10pm. Incredible stuff. People don’t know whether they’re coming or going.
You are so right about that underlying feeling of depression – we can only keep invoking Our Lady of Fatima – I’ve added that prayer to everything now, after Grace, Morning Offering etc. Any formal prayers, I add “Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us”. Signed Saint Patricia 😀

I think every family is going through divisions due to different opinions about it. That’s one of the worst things about it
The way we are being watched everywhere and having to go along with so many ridiculous rules, is just terribly depressing. I’m getting more and more fed up of the whole business. I now hate what the politicians are doing, every one of them. They are all enjoying making life difficult for us, I believe that because I know that none of the restrictions are necessary. No government can eradicate a virus – I’ve read that on here many times and it is just so true. Yet they keep talking as if they can do that. Even with a vaccine they can’t get rid of the virus, otherwise we wouldn’t have the flu every year. They really do think we’re all thick.
I have also experienced Elizabeth’s underlying depression, not so much over the USA version of the lockdown, which is nowhere as vicious as the UK, but from the well-financed (understatement of the year) efforts of the hate-America NWO leftists to create anarchy and overthrow the government. Their “social justice” brown shirts pop up everywhere, it seems, well-prepared with the tools of their violent trade: Molotov cocktails, bricks, costumes, etc. that are supplied in advance via trucks that come from …. ?
Also depressing is the apparent turtle’s pace at which the FBI and the Dept. of Justice are identifying the source of funds for these trained thugs. This activity has been going on since the Obama “administration.” You would think our government agents might have a well-developed list, by now, of who’s doing what to whom and who’s paying for it. I saw a headline yesterday that such a list does exist, but where is the action to shut this down?
Of some, rather limited consolation is to remind myself of the state of mind of the Apostles in-between the Passion and Death of Our Lord and His Resurrection. They were in hiding, probably very confused and afraid – a mental state which was shortly erased (though it took St. Thomas a bit longer to re-boot his hard drive…).
So when all seems lost is the point where victory will come. Meanwhile, keep praying for Our Lady to strengthen the voices of truth. I’ve been praying that daily as a Rosary intention for at least 2 months now, and judging from what’s developing all over the West, it’s working. Here’s that prayer again:
“For Our Lady of Fatima to bless, strengthen, amplify, increase and stir up the voices of truth across the Christian West, and to cast a cloud of darkness and confusion over the voices of lies, by the instruments of Our Lord’s Holy Passion and Death.”
I don’t know if “Keep Britain Free” is Catholic, but it would certainly help if they used that prayer as well.
Also, even better, the Holy Face prayers:

I need a bit more time to read you post in depth but something jumped out at me – your remarks about the agencies taking so long to find out who is funding the anarchists.
I noticed that because today I was told (and I’ve not had time to check it out, so it may not be true, not sure) that the Scottish independence referendum was funded by none other than the Kim Jong-un regime.
Not that I would be surprised. I’m beyond shocked at anything associated with the SNP now, but surprised, yes; I would be surprised if even the SNP would stoop so low as to accept money from such an evil regime.

Dear First Minister,
Sometimes I struggle to believe what is happening, that such vast numbers of people have bought into every detail of a scenario which has been built upon a bed of lies. I equally struggle to believe that anyone of good conscience, could continue to stand up in Parliament and implement policies which are not only unnecessary and unsubstantiated, but are known to be causing continuous destruction to people’s lives, wellbeing, and to this country as a whole.
There is no Pandemic right now. Yes, I said it, there is no Pandemic right now.
A story about a virus, the details of which have continually changed, has changed the very details of our society and how we interact, how we love and care for each other, even within our own families; how we go about every movement of our lives.
People who are not sick, being classed as dangerous and confined to their homes. People who are not sick being tested & those positive cases of healthy people being used to manipulate waves of fear and justify further government control.
The asymptomatic lie has been one of the biggest building blocks of the whole story. We are yet to see any hard evidence to support it, yet the theory continues to impact every part of our social interaction.
‘Cases’ are positive tests, but nobody is necessarily sick. Why is there no distinction made between cases and infections? The two are conflated but they are not the same. You don’t report whether someone is sick, because this invisible and clearly (in many cases) unharmful virus has work to do, the government has work to do in using it to literally change the whole of society.
When the government ran out of deaths to report, then they started reporting ‘cases’, because they couldn’t let the fear settle, nobody was to relax. You said in a recent briefing, words to the effect of “wherever you are, imagine Coronavirus is in the room with you” but this is a lie & it is psychological warfare and I believe that you know it. You want everyone to remain scared and on edge, so that people will do whatever you say, to ‘comply’, as you say.
But why should we believe what you say, when you stood up at the start of lockdown and told us this was all being implemented to protect the vulnerable, yet the most vulnerable were left to die?
While the government harped on and on about how lockdown was necessary to protect the vulnerable, the vulnerable were sentenced to death in care homes. While the elderly died, you stood up and continued to pretend that this was all being done for people’s health and to ‘protect the vulnerable’. People were not only left to die, but left to die alone, cut off from their family. This is one of the greatest offences against human dignity, to deny someone a loved one, at the hour of their death.
You have been hailed as a hero, surrounded by the applause of a nation taking your every instruction, but you have stood up and preached on a mountain of deception and dishonesty. The truth is, you are not to be trusted.
99.7%. This is the figure we are looking at in terms of surviving this virus. This is not the deadly virus you continue to claim it is.
Yet here we are, believing this is a genuine Pandemic. The Pandemic is the Politicians & the Media. Politicians and journalists desperately scraping the barrel for more that they can use to build hysteria and continue separating loved ones, separating friends, shutting the doors of our own homes, shutting down businesses, shutting our churches, muzzling us, distancing us, preparing us for a vaccine we do.not.need.
On the bright side, it does seem that more and more people are seeing the penny drop. More people are seeing that 2+2 does not equal 5. More and more people are seeing the inconsistent, non evidence based, contradictory rules and policies for what they are. More and more people are realising the disproportionate response is aimed more at control, than any effort to help anyone. More and more medical professionals are speaking up, even at the risk of their own career, because stifling the truth is too much to bear and the truth always breaks free in the end.
As the number of those questioning things increases, so do the chances of withstanding the destructive force that is at work in the name of ‘saving lives’.
If the government truly cared for our health they would care about health in all areas. In the UK, around 450 people die of cancer every single day. Is that reported in the daily briefings? We know that cancer has a 50% survival rate, a far more deadly statistic than Covid, and now we are going to see hundreds if not thousands more die of cancer in coming months and years because screenings were stopped during lockdown. This is not about our health.
This is about our freedom, about a societal upheaval and restructure, impacting the very nature of our lives as human beings and how we interact with each other.
Right before lockdown started in the UK, this situation was downgraded from being an emergency, yet it went ahead anyway so the government could try to pretend the lockdown ‘worked’. Meanwhile, Sweden set out a completely different plan and proved that it wasn’t lockdown which ‘worked’ at all.
2 + 2 does not equal 5. There is no Pandemic right now.
The fact of the matter is, given the reality of the situation and not the illusion you have created – You have no right or authority to divide families, friends, church communities. You have no right or authority to say who can and cannot enter someone’s private property. You have no right or authority to ruin people’s livelihoods and educations. You have no right or authority to destroy the economy. You have no right or authority to stop a person worshipping God in the place of worship they attend. You have no right and authority to psychologically torment a nation, with Propaganda and unsubstantiated statements.
Please, for once in 2020, stand up and tell the truth and leave this nation to return to the normality that it can and should have.

People need to know the facts and they need to know that the government is not giving us the facts. I can never remember numbers and statistics, so I think this letter is so good that if I can do it, I’ll spread it around the people I know. Spot on, as ever. The “experts” even told us right at the start, that for most people – even elderly in good enough health – who become infected, the virus will be harmless. Most will recover, and that has turned out to be true.
This letter is fantastic. I plan to print it off and hand it out to people I meet. Every day, I tell at least one person about this blog, even if I don’t leave the house. I tell the post man, or if I’m on the phone on a business call. I was talking to a lady from the Philippines who was helping me with my instant ink printer. I tell everyone and anyone. I ask them to put it on Facebook. I met two strangers in the Asda queue today, and gave the the link. I told two older women in my local village who seemed interested, I also told an American when in the phone to someone from Virginia. We need to pass it on to as many as we can to alert people. Our Lady of Fatima, Pray for us. Hopefully we can lead people to the Faith through people looking around the website and blog.

Of course God can repair and will, but this will take the consecration of Russia, as we are seeing communism overtaking the UK and the world using the Covid 1984 as the excuse for global totalitarianism. Kate Shemirani talks about the current tyranny in the UK. She asks all to read the Public Health Act 1984 which has been updated but which gives the UK Government the right to come into our homes, remove us and our children and then have our home destroyed. We can then be sent to a re-education place, where pets are also destroyed. She advises us to watch Boris Johnson’s speech at the UN last year where he speaks of a “Fast Army” response team who can come into our Schools for our Children. She is also great on pro-life. Do people know that even to get in an ambulance in the UK, you will be tested! She also warns us to stock up on food and most important know their plans and choose your side and ACT.
We have to resist and Act now before it is too late!

I’ve now watched the video but the protest to which she invites us all took place a month ago, on 29 August.
Secondly – and I’ve pointed this out on YouTube – it’s a pity she recommended the King James Bible because even Protestant scholars admit that it is full of errors.
I did, however, (and do) thank her for all her hard work in fighting this tyranny.

I then clicked on the link to their report on the London protest and – what a difference! They show photos of the massive crowd, and name and quote speakers. Unlike the black-out on details over here. It’s astounding. I posted a comment to that effect on that site and then scrolled down to read some of the other comments – this quote from George Orwell’s novel (now turned reality), 1984…

They don’t quote the doctors/professors who spoke – just David Icke who had a nervous breakdown some years ago when he was interviewed saying some crazy things. He’s not been allowed to live that down.
The media just cannot be trusted in the UK. They lie as often and as easily as some of us eat chocolate…

It sucks but they have always been able to do that . Always clarify with the police if they are giving a directive, if they say yes (which they rarely do ) obey it and complain later the more people that do this the more chance we have of getting them to be more careful about their directives.“
The commenter makes a good point here, but that given it still doesn’t excuse the seemingly power hungry behaviour of the police unless they’re under orders to do so.
IMHO COVID has brought out the worse in the police.

This extract, though, is dynamite – and at one time, as Hitchens points out, it would have be enough to bring down any government…
Look and you will see that some wear [the face masks] with a sort of pride. But most look baffled and captive, as if they are peering out through a slot in a wall behind which they have found themselves trapped. And the constant sight — on streets, in stations, in shops and on TV — of thousands of others, likewise suppressed, maintains the fear, alarm and panic which the government must now preserve for the foreseeable future.

Those who think this is scaremongering need to read an astonishing document still far too little known to the general public. It is a paper submitted to the government’s own SAGE committee on 22 March 2020, and it has the heading “Persuasion”. The key segment reads:
Perceived threat: A substantial number of people still do not feel sufficiently personally threatened; it could be that they are reassured by the low death rate in their demographic group, although levels of concern may be rising. Having a good understanding of the risk has been found to be positively associated with adoption of Covid-19 social distancing measures in Hong Kong. The perceived level of personal threat needs to be increased among those who are complacent [my emphasis], using hard-hitting emotional messaging. To be effective this must also empower people by making clear the actions they can take to reduce the threat.
There is not a lot to add to that – it’s astounding! I mean, it’s exactly what I / most of us here already know, but it’s astounding to see it written in a government document – they’re deliberately keeping us in fear.
Alan Jones, Sky News Australia, reports that Sanjeev Sabhlok, an economist resigned from his post in Victoria’s Department of Finance within the past week. His reason, ‘To be free to speak out against the State’s management of Covid 19’.
Covid 19 was never a pandemic to begin with and cannot be compared to the “Spanish Flu” of
1918/1919.

Although I think the writer has settled on an unfortunate word, “casedemic.” As he himself shows, there are very few actual cases. A better term would be “test-demic.”

I agree – I’m a great fan of repetition. It all began in my childhood when I was a tad disobedient and my mother would ask me if she had to repeat herself again, and again, and again, to which I replied “yes, yes, and yes”…
