Feast of St Michael the Archangel – Defender of the Church & the Faithful, Defend Us in the Battle!

Comment:

The crisis in the Church and the world is deepening. Thus, we find ourselves living in a Communist type dictatorship where our political masters rule by decree. We are kept nervously awaiting the latest change of restrictions on our freedom, so it might be worthwhile adding the powerful St Michael prayer to our daily routine. The short version below is prayed at the end of low Masses – it is spoken by the priest because it is an exorcism, but as lay people we may say it ourselves outside of Mass. It is certainly important to seek this great saint’s powerful intercession for us all at this time. And despite the unhappy situation in which we find ourselves, let’s do our best to enjoy a very Happy Feast Day!

As with all Feast Day threads, feel free to discuss relevant issues, share favourite prayers and hymns, and jokes of the “good clean fun” variety are very welcome.  Happy Feast!

Holy Michael, Archangel, defend us in the day of battle;
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil;
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
And do thou, O Price of the Heavenly Host,
By the power of God,
Cast down into Hell,
Satan, and all wicked spirits,
Who wander through the world,
For the ruin of souls. Amen.

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us!  Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us!

    I suggest that we remember Archbishop Vigano in prayer today. He is almost alone among churchmen in publicly defending the Faith, which includes publicly criticising/rebuking the clergy who have bowed to the authority of the State over Christ and His Church. Shame on them all.

      Editor,

      I agree, this is a good day to remember Archbishop Vigano on. He is a real fighter for the faith.

    That’s a really lovely video about angels, I learned a lot. I don’t think most people realise that belief in angels is a truth of the faith, as the video says.

    I agree we should pray for Archbishop Vigano. I suppose since he had to go into hiding after his published testimony, we can’t be too surprised that the rest of the clergy are going along to get along. We need to pray for another Pius X to put things right in the Church from the top down.

    Happy Feast everyone!

      Lily,

      I loved the video as well – very simply put and very clear.

      I also agree we should pray for Archbishop Vigano – and for Father Dunn, his letter published on another thread today, on this feast of the great Archangel, defender of the Church and the faithful!

      Happy Feast to all at CT. Father Dunn’s letter made it for me!

        Josephine, me too. I’ve just commented on the “letter thread”. It’s brilliant.

    Happy Feast of St Michael, Archangel everyone. May he aid both Archbishop Vigano and Father Dunn.

    Not for the first time has St Michael, Archangel appeared to men, and, miracles have happened as shown in this link.

      Theresa Rose,

      That’s an interesting link although I didn’t read everything on it, but there are some stories of miracles I’ve never head before.

      Helen,

      I’m thinking you mean today is your son’s birthday, not that you’ve had a newborn son today I can’t see you blogging if that was the case LOL!

    Sept. 6 is the Feast of the Miracle of St. Michael and Nov. 8 is the Feast of St. Michael and All the Angels on the Byzantine and Ukrainian Greek Catholic calendars.

    He makes spirits his angels, and flaming fire His ministers.

    Prokimenon, Tone 4, Feast of St. Michael.
