As this thread is launched, Boris Johnson is holding a press conference to offer his exit strategy for coming out of lockdown. From the snippets appearing online already, this is going to be a very slow process. Politicians do not give up power easily. Nicola Sturgeon is to make her latest announcement tomorrow afternoon but she’s already told us that her focus will be on “data rather than dates” which, of course, means that she can keep moving the goalposts at will.
Will telling these people that lockdown is inhumane move them, at all? Will it touch them sufficiently to decide to end this misery once and for all?

Unfortunately I agree with You this time Ed especially now that The Power Hungry Sturgeon is or was under Scrutiny with the ,used to be my Buddy Alex Affair . After all can’t let a good Problem go to waste and Wee Nic has fairly juiced this one up . As to the Inhumanity of this Chinese Disease on the Video the Saying ” Those who think of Death not Life ” I actually think that was put in deliberately as that’s in a Marxist Communist Manifesto all Day long and we know especially the so called Scottish Governments Views. Just a We bit of Black Humour so to speak. On Saturday I received an Organ Donor Letter ( I suppose it went out to all Adults ) that we now have to opt out before they remove our Organs ,it doesn’t say if I will be Dead or Alive when or if this Happens. Anyway, enough of this levity… Here’s today’s interview with Peter Hitchens on the Mike Graham Show; they are discussing the alleged lifting of lockdown, with the emphasis on “alleged”. The observations about the population, a sizeable chunk of which won’t want the lockdown to end at all, are probably very close to the mark if not absolutely true. I have no trouble believing everything Peter says today. No trouble at all. See if you agree…

That barrage of boos echoing around Rod Laver Arena last night was the sound of propaganda meeting reality. Tennis Australia chair Jayne Hrdlicka supposed she would get a warm round of applause when she thanked the Victorian government during the Australian Open men’s trophy presentation.
Instead, the crowd hissed and jeered, prompting the corporate spiv to call them “a very opinionated crowd”.
Well, imagine a group of people who have endured a year of harsh lockdowns having an opinion about their jailers?
Hrdlicka, leading with her chin, told tennis fans: “There are many other people to thank that enabled this great night to take place. The top of that list is the Victorian government. Without you, we could not have done this.”
The Melbourne crowd, breathing fresh air again after only recently being released from yet another term of home imprisonment, was having none of it.
The stadium erupted in a cacophony of boos. Hrdlicka just stood there, barely able to disguise her disgust at the crowd’s impertinence. Behind her, the tournament sponsor’s representative could be seen covering his face with his hand. Victorians were booing Dictator Dan on live television. Did they not know this was being broadcast around the world? How are we to maintain fake news when real life is permitted to interrupt?
Where were the police? Wasn’t booing – along with almost everything else – against the chief health officer’s orders?
The #IStandWithDan mob immediately took to social media to denounce the crowd’s reaction as “embarrassing” and “disheartening”.
“The booing in the crowd was a global disgrace. With the world watching, privileged Australian Open crowd behaviour was disgusting,” wrote one.
Yes. Damn the middle class. You can’t take them anywhere.
This was a perfect example of why Dictator Dan had been right to lock them in their homes and to prevent their free assembly. See what happens when you trust the public with a little bit of freedom?
If there is to be another Australian Open, the government and their partners will need to ‘fortify’ the crowd.
Hrdlicka had one job last night: to honour Open winner Novak Djokovic and thank the army of volunteers who made the tournament possible.
But continuing the recent tradition of Australian sports administrators with a tin ear, she could not help herself but use the moment to genuflect before Chairman Dan.
But worse, right before Djokovic – a well-known anti-vaxxer – was about to be presented with his ninth Australian Open trophy, Hrdlicka decided to ignore the tennis and push the coronavirus vaccine. “With vaccinations on the way, rolling out in many countries around the world, it’s now a time for optimism and hope for the future,” she lectured.
Rather than cheer for the vaccine, the crowd booed and hissed.
Again, Hrdlicka looked stunned. Why would people boo the vaccine? Why would they not appreciate a tennis administrator’s free medical advice?
But, of course, it wasn’t a boorish mob booing a vaccine, it was a fed-up citizenry tired of having the thug State and its apologists turn every aspect of life into a political rally for scoring points against ideological opponents.
Tennis Australia and the Daniel Andrews got what they deserved last night.
Victorians, on the other hand, deserve a lot better — not least of which is to be being left alone to simply enjoy the tennis.

Brilliant! I’ve been watching Dan Whatsisname via Sky News Australia, specifically Alan Jones (though he seems to have disappeared recently) and he, Dan, really does take the Covid biscuit.

ED I only watched half the Video and I of course agree with P.Hitchens but on a more positive note as was on that banned Video I posted on another link Billy Gates has a great idea .Of course its not something that we didn’t see coming . The longer this goes on the more obvious it is that our political leaders are criminals who need to be exposed and called to account for their actions. It is very evident now after nearly a year that these methods have nothing to do with health and everything to do with a Communist restructuring of our lives. Apart from a very small few exceptions, the entire political class is in on this along with the media and the police. I am now in no doubt that our freedom and way of life is being taken away by these evil conspirators.
The problem is I go to a shop like Morrisons and everyone is wearing a mask. The entire nation is full of lazy people who no longer educate themselves, they really are just sheep. I’m told now that the latest fad is the wearing of two masks! I mean, how crazy does it have to get before people with any kind of IQ start asking serious questions?
The only explanation I have for the mass blindness and compliance is that most people are now without the grace of God, they simply can’t see the evil that has taken control of them and their lives. They are all so convinced that this life is the only life that they’ll do anything, submit to anything, rather than face what for them is the end of existence. Such is the pagan society in which we live, and now it has its very own brutal dictators in the corridors of power. Human beings never learn!

I couldn’t agree more but I’m afraid – after a brief trip to the local supermarket (only took three hours today instead of the usual 4!) – I can see, very clearly, that Peter Hitchens is absolutely correct in his assessment; more people will want to remain in this nightmare than will want to come out of it, if and when there is any indication that we WILL be coming out…
In the car driving home, I listened to the Jeremy Vine Show and he was just coming to the end of a segment which had featured people’s reaction to the news that the lockdown in England is to ease. The question seems to have been addressed to those who were fearful because the three callers who rang in while I was listening were all fearful at one level or another. They spoke about their fear of “re-socialising” and wondering if they could do that. One woman has been at home with her children all the time and isn’t sure she will cope with “adult conversation”. Another, a man who has been working from home, said he had been doing well working from home and is now nervous because he doesn’t do so well in face-to-face situations.
I thought “give up. Just give up. They have the fervour and zeal of converts to a new religion. Covid is the new religion, now beloved by most of the population of the UK.”
Oh, and the only person to whom I spoke IN the supermarket was a fully paid-up believer – I usually avoid speaking on the subject to any masked person but she caught me talking to myself at the repeated “we’re here to keep you safe” drivel coming over the tannoy. I felt I had to satisfy her curiosity so I explained that – apart from the irritation I feel at having to spend half of my life listening to and talking about health issues – the virus hype doesn’t match the facts… this is a virus which is mild in most people who get it, etc.” Sorry I spoke, as she seemed to know everybody in Scotland who has ever died “from” or “with” it – not sure which!
They don’t connect the dots. They are not thinking whether losing a couple of years (at least) out of our lives is worth minimising the risk of getting a virus from which most people recover. And, it seems, the answer to that might well be “yes, I do” from the Covid-believers.
The best bit of all is that the majority of elderly who have been polled (to the best of my knowledge, last time I heard the subject addressed) DON’T want to be locked up away from friends and family – they want to enjoy what is left of their lives.
Truly, you could not make this stuff up.

It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if those 3 people who called in while you were listening were government plants. After all, they have them on social media and “fact checker” sites (which should be called “fact chucker” sites), why not on call in talk shows?

What you describe is precisely the psychological side effect of these lockdowns that a lot of people are suffering from, i.e., a form of anxiety at the thought of having to be adult again and to be sociable again with other grownups. This is what the nanny state has been working towards for decades – a population despoiled of independence and maturity which is utterly dependent on the government to support it and run its affairs. In other words, people who once trusted in God and His providence for their welfare have switched their allegiance to the Communist government and are wholly subservient to its Commandments.
It really is a chastisement from God for an apostasy that has been long underway. Nobody wants to know God anymore, they just want this life and its pleasures. For decades the churches have been emptying and closing down as people more and more abandoned religion and the hope of eternal life for earthly enjoyment. It was all holidays and parties and new houses or whatever else took up their empty lives – pleasure, pleasure and more pleasure, which the atheistic governments encouraged.
Well, now it has all been taken away from them and they don’t seem to be aware that they have been turned into slaves under totalitarian rule, robbed of all freedom and quite probably their future income. The holidays are at an end, the parties are at an end, all the frills of their materialist existence is at an end. Having denied God and their Christian duty, they are now denied even basic human rights by their new Masters. Yes, I believe that God has permitted this as a punishment for large scale infidelity, perhaps to bring at least some souls back to the realisation that a world without His love and laws is a hell on earth.
As regards what you say about the elderly, I agree that many elderly people do want to see an end to this and have their families around them again. However, I’ve had a couple of experiences with older people that leads me to believe that at least some of them are the worst of all government disciples when it comes to following the new Communist diktats.
I was in Morrisons the other day, for example, walking up and down the aisles look for various things, when I became aware of the presence of an old creep following me around. I could sense his hostility even from a distance and I knew instinctively that he was looking for trouble. So I put him to the test by moving around a little, up one aisle, down the other, back up the other – giving the old cretin some much needed exercise – until at length I decided the time was right to shake him off once and for all. Sure enough, the minute I stopped long enough for him to hobble close enough for conversation, he started asking (sarcastically) why I didn’t have a mask on – what was wrong with me, etc.
It took me all my time not to laugh at him standing there, his face so thoroughly covered up that only his eyes were visible between his big black mask and his woolly tea cosy hat with pompom. I could tell though that he was of an age which is generally representative of one foot in the grave and the other on a banana skin, yet here he was, a godless old coffin dodger, who, instead of encouraging younger people to trust in God and fix their attention on eternal life, instead petrified that someone is going to rob him of his last few months or years in this valley of tears. It was quite pathetic and I will not repeat here my response to him. Suffice it to say he didn’t follow me afterwards!
I think of all the people who have complied with these inhumane rules of the government, elderly pagans are the ones I have the least respect for. Instead of imparting encouragement and wisdom to the younger generation, advising them that the present virus is child’s play in comparison with what they have seen in their long lives, they stumble around wagging fingers at anyone without a mask, almost crying in terror at what might come upon them. It really drives me nuts!
My mother is 83 and absolutely opposed to masks, social distancing and lockdowns. She represents wisdom in old age and that bravery of people who have lived a hard life and trust in God. They would need to tie her down to inject a vaccine or apply a mask and even then she’d put up a good fight. It shows that even among the elderly there’s a vast difference in wisdom and bravery between those who love and serve God and those who have lived only for themselves.
I agree entirely with every single thing you say, especially in the first 3 paragraphs.
But also I feel certain, the nanny-furloughing is all part of a cruel plan to trick the sheeple deeper and deeper into the trap, lulling them into a false sense of security, until its too late to escape , the trap can be sprung and then the financial rug pulled from under them.

That, in a nutshell, is the theme of the allegory in the middle of Pinocchio, about a place called Pleasure Island, or “The Land of Toys.”
I’ve posted about this before, but in this story, street urchins like Pinocchio and Lampwick are lured to this island by promises of unlimited freedom, enjoyment and lack of rules. After indulging themselves disgracefully and tearing up the place, they suddenly begin to transform into donkeys: first ears, then a tail, then the rest. When the transformation is complete – they become unthinking beasts – they are rounded up and taken to the mines for a life of slavery.
Such is the fate of those who forget God and His Law. The lemmings who follow the “experts” off the cliff in obedience to the scam-demic have become unthinking beasts, and are now slaves of the state, their very DNA reprogrammed.
I don’t know anything about the author of this tale, Carlo Collodi, but his warning, and his insight in what has been done to us is very impressive.

What we’re seeing now in U.S. politics is exaclty the situation we’ve had here in the UK for decades, i.e., two apparently pole-opposite political parties – one left-leaning, the other right-leaning, being directed by the same hidden sinister forces of Communism and Freemasonry, and dominating national politics.
Both sides, while appearing to be ideological opponents, are in fact cultural Marixst entities differentiated only by their alternative approaches to fiscal policy, etc. On the religious/moral level, they can both be seen as belonging to China, and before that to Russia.
President Trump has brought their hypocrisy right out into the open, whereas before it was hidden. He has forced the so-called RINOs, who are actually Communist infiltrators or generally bought people, to show their true allegiance, which is to hidden evil puppet masters. We haven’t seen that exposure yet in the UK – a majority still thinking that the Conservative Party is made up of God-fearing politicians with a love of country, when in reality it was the Tories who took us into the Communist EU and who today are driving the lockdowns and selling our assets to China.
So in a way the American people are fortunate, Trump has exposed people like Mitch McConnell as up to his eyeballs with CCP money through his wife’s family business. That’s good news because it will either force the true Republican politicians to side with Trump going forward and expel these corrupt lefties, or Trump will found a new political party and attract all the true Republicans to join him.
I just hope that something happens in the UK to finally open the eyes of Conservatives that the Tory Party is more Red even than Labour.

I rather think our Church leaders will be falling over themselves in gratitude to Comrade Sturgeon for throwing them an Easter crumb of comfort.
The one thing to come out of this tragedy has been the realisation that preistly zeal in Scotland is almost non existent. Lord forbid that we are ever faced with another persecution like that of the 16th century, requiring priests to risk their very lives to provide Mass and the Sacraments, for I fear the present crop of ordained would tear their cassocks (or Ku Klux-like vestments) off very quickly and run for the safety of the hills. They are not the breed of martyr priests the Church was once so proud of. Today they have abandoned the faithful to the mercy of totalitarian Communist government and called it “obeying the law”. Well, they’ll see what Our Lord has to say about their trampling His laws for men’s laws when they each stand before Him on the terrbile day of their judgment!

Florida stopped all mandated mask wearing, “social distancing”, opened everything last September (all nurseries scholls further education, pubs, cafes etc.) and nothing happened. Is it not a wee bit of a surprise that this great news is not on BBC or SKY News?

I think there may have been one exception to that but, for the most part, she waits for his announcement, tweaks it slightly, and then announces, more or less, the same thing. Crackers.
I detect a sarcastic note in your second paragraph, and I make no secret of the fact that I am completely shocked at your evident lack of respect for the dedicated journalists at the BBC and Sky News who bring us fake news with a fidelity and regularity matched only by ITN, Channel 4, and Channel 5. They wouldn’t report on Florida etc out of their deep concern to help the Government keep us busy with the grave task of protecting the NHS, staying home and – above all else – saving lives. Especially the lives of the least productive group in society, those whom they are keen to see enjoy a great quality of life and if that can’t be assured, they will bring back an Assisted Dying / Euthanasia Bill to Parliament asap and thereafter, all will be well. They won’t need to worry about “protecting” (imprisoning) the elderly next time there’s a new virus ‘cos there won’t BE any elderly…

Dear Editor,
A little video and song I did called 2019, primarily to lament I believe the last year of freedom as we knew it, and the terrible tragedy that the minds of grandchildren now aged 2,3,4, will have those memories erased, and the nightmarish existence of the past year will be the future for them. So instead of BC, AD, it’ll be BC, AC. I posted on Facebook, but the gravity of the situation doesn’t seem to register. The idea was to tug at the consciousness of parents and grandparents, and try to awaken in them a sense of dread, but they just see it as a sentimental and sad song, which it is, but they don’t grasp the deeper meaning. Maybe I’m over dramatic, and I’m praying I’m wrong, and I’m fully aware of Our Lady’s final triumph, but I sense a period of great trial awaits us.

Thank you, CB, for sharing that lovely song/poem – and just keeping remembering that final triumph, which, of course, does not belittle the suffering of parents and grandparents thinking of the year(s) being stolen from their children. It’s truly shocking. Oh, and, for the record, you are certainly not being over-dramatic. Indeed, I don’t think it’s possible to be over-dramatic about this scandalous situation. None of us will ever get this past year back again. I can’t believe how willingly people are just handing over their freedom – and being grateful for the privilege!
